What a wonderful time we had sitting for Kathleen's cats Zabava, Anushka & Pippin. It was only our fourth sit and our first overseas. The fact that this coincided with planned train strike action in England and France made the logistics a little tricky and we were grateful for Kate's help in locating the latest French information and allowing us to arrive a day earlier than originally planned. The whole family were at home for the first two nights of our stay; it was such a joy to meet them all. Kate & Eric very generously gave of their time to walk us into the Old Town pointing out the landmarks and we took that walk along the river every day. We could not have wished for better guidance on caring for the house and cats. Kathleen has written a really comprehensive guide and also walked us through the daily routine. There is quite a bit involved in caring for Zabava, Anushka & Pippin but they are certainly worth it. Although of the same breed, they each have their own preferences and having Kate explain that to us was very helpful. The cats are so attractive with their furry coats, fascinating markings and mesmerising eyes. Finding them gathered outside our bedroom door each morning brought a smile to our faces. We were initially a little nervous about letting the cats out but soon relaxed into this. Eric has made the garden very secure and Kate has trained the cats to respond to calls and treats. We also found that we soon learnt each cat's hedge hiding spot so we could reassure ourselves that they were all still in the garden even if they were not in full view. The house is extremely comfortable and we really enjoyed preparing meals with fresh ingredients from the market and relaxing in the lounge reading books recommended by the family. Thank you to Kathleen, her family and cat clan for affording us a wonderful opportunity and ensuring we had a lovely time.
Stunning house and gardens and a lovely welcome from Tim and Annabel. Juno is a young, very energetic spaniel, extremely cheeky and playful. She enjoyed her walks even though we couldn't let her off the lead. She is an absolute foodie so don't leave things in the kitchen or they will disappear! Would definitely return if invited.
