João and Basil are very friendly and chill cats. João was cool with us the minute we walked in the door. Basil took about two hours, but then she was curiosity friendly. By the time we left, they were both spending lots of time with us. João liked to lay next to the couch right by our feet, looking for pets. And Basil enjoyed following us around in the morning having conversations and sitting next to our chairs during breakfast. And both loved to play with their toys. João is self sufficient. He comes and goes as he pleases. Most of the time, however, he was inside with us. He does bring "presents" , though only once while we were there Isabel's apartment is nice. It's tastefully decorated and was spotless. It's great that she has an automated litter box. In two weeks, we only had to change it twice.. Isabel has a video projector which made watching films quite nice! And she has a good kitchen with some nice touches for an apartment. For the most part, it was a quiet stay. Occasionally in the evening, we heard the downstairs neighbors television. But most of the day, it was quiet, outside of the occasional noises of being in the city. Finally, a great convenience is that Trader Joe's is a one block walk and there are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops that we could walk to as well.
Looking after Stella and Cooper was an absolute delight. Stella is the most beautiful and well mannered doggy we've ever spent time with. Very quiet and easy going, she loves being in our company and going for walks around this stunning neighbourhood. Cooper is happy to be cuddled and given time on the lawn to smell the fresh air. Otherwise, he's resting in his bed or on the lounge. He needs his insulin injection after each meal which becomes routine once you've done it a few times. Getting to know Kim and feeling so welcome in her beautiful home is such an incredible privilege. She really makes you feel at home, and in fact it feels like we've been friends for years. Kim is truly a wonderful person. We're really looking forward to the next opportunity to stay with Stella and Cooper.
We loved looking after Hugo in London! He is an absolute ball of energy but so cute and friendly. Hugo loved walking to the park and chasing the ball around and we had no issues with him on or off the lead. Georgia and Nick are such nice people and were very accommodating, allowing us to arrive early and leave late so we could work from their house and gave us all the information we needed for an enjoyable stay. The house is very well equipped and located on a quiet street only a short walk from the Elizabeth line which makes getting into central London very easy. We would gladly come back to look after Hugo again and recommend this sit to anyone :)
Leysa and Andrew were very welcoming and although the hand-over was a bit rushed I was made to feel extremely comfortable in the Pool House. Pemba and Whistle were joined by Fig for part of the sit - all very different characters but great company. Pemba had a very gentle nature whereas Whistle was more feisty and had a few issues at feeding time! She was quite protective of her property and very good at alerting me to any visitors or passing birds... nevertheless a lovely dog. Fig belonged to Leysa's sister and looked like a mini version of Whistle - all were a joy to be with. My son stayed for a couple of nights and we went to see the Marriage of Figaro at Glyndebourne which was quite close by and we had some beautiful walks around the estate.
Great sit, 110% recommend, chill dog, communicative pet parent and great spot!! Amos was an attentive lovable chill sweetie - he followed me around the apartment, snuggled up to me on the couch and bed, and mostly lazed around and sometimes napped during the day while I worked. He’s a big guy but amazingly is mostly incredibly well behaved on walks - he’ll wait patiently as you put on his harness and won’t drag you down the stairs to head out. He’ll only pull for squirrels, cats, and other dogs so keep a grip on the leash for sudden pulls but will mostly respond to a stern no. I loved hanging out with him, he's incredibly lovable, and pet behavior overall was great. The pet parents - Harry and Alicia - were also amazing. They were open to doing a walkthrough before the sit, shared a detailed four page guide rewhich was incredibly helpful, and were responsive to all questions. Their home is comfortable, clean, and welcoming and in a great area - just a few minutes from Lake Merritt, right next to a Whole Foods, and right next to a bus stop! The listing is accurate. I'd be happy to do this sit again and would recommend it with no hesitations to anyone.
