This was our first THS Sit - and we loved everything about the gentle loving animals, the glorious location, and Birgit our hostess: so much so that we were begging to return before we’d even left, and are Sitting again next week :-)

Wolke (meaning “Cloud”) is the nicest natured dog I have ever met. She loves all people, and by day two, was recognising the sound of our hire-car and running to wait inside the gated-safe yard to greet us as we unlocked. She is a darling.

Mickey and Tommy are knee and neck cats who both love fuss. By night two they came and slept each side of me in bed. Birgit warned us the Puske (their sister), was missing her owner who was away at University. But she came in our bedroom window nightly and loved gentle fuss. She was Queen of the Rug; the boys all deferred to her - through respect. She hasn’t a bad bone in her body.

The budgies are beautiful - but need a cover over their cage to hint it’s time to stop singing and go to sleep!

Birgit was well organised; sent a very detailed “Pet/Home Bible” well in advance, and spent a lot of time sharing little important details as she took me on Wolke’s morning walk. She responded quickly to whatsapp messages, and loved the photos and updates we sent. She and her husband Jorg were also very generous and organised for us to stay at their wonderful little hotel in the South of Gran Canaria after the Sit till our flight home. We chatted lots, have stayed in regular contact, and I like to think we are now good friends and will remain so.

The North of Gran Canaria is green, lush, and full of interesting architecture, friendly welcoming Spanish, amazing mountain views, and the best food in the world. We recommend “pata” (special roast pork) at the Mexican on the high street. And try the “menu del dia” off the old man at the rustic cafe on the roundabout as you drive out of the town and up to Birgit’s. For about 20e two of us had bread, Alioli, wine, water, and home made three course meals. So good we are there four times in a week!

If you want to explore the city of Las Palmas you can do so by bus. But to get the most from the location you need to book a hire car from the airport and each day explore another mountain-side little whitewashed village; local market, or any of the beaches.... all different, all good.

To be honest we’d prefer to keep this Sit for ourselves..... we’d return anytime! But if you get the chance to go, do. It was great. Thank you Birgit, Jorg, and your furry-family :-)

Alexandra
We had a wonderful time caring for Maisy! A sweet cat and playful when he got comfortable with us. Alexandra and Kevin keep a lovely home in a beautiful Brooklyn neighborhood where we were very happy for a week :)

Tracy
Tracy and Lloyd have a beautiful, comfortable home. Felix and Oscar were a delight to look after. Their home is in beautiful Buckinghamshire and there are some great walks on their doorstep. There are also plenty of eateries within a short distance of their home.

Tracy and Lloyd are very accommodating and have a very informative information pack, which was extremely useful.

We would not hesitate to recommend this sit to anyone, should they get the opportunity to do so.

Rachel
Rachel and her family were such joys to meet and Lola and Mary were both fantastic pets. Their neighborhood is wonderful, Boulder is a fantastic city, and if they ever need another pet sitter we'd be back there in a flash.

We're lucky to have met such nice people and animals.

Helen
Helen and Finbarr gave us such a warm welcome. After kindly collecting us from the airport and giving us a tour of delightful Dingle, we were introduced to their wonderful dogs and treated to a delicious meal and thoughtful gift.
They were so generous in lending us their car and bikes for the duration of the pet sit.
Helen’s communication before and during the petsit was fantastic, including a comprehensive pet sitter manual which they went through with us during the hand-over. They also made sure we felt part of the local community by introducing us us to the sea swimming group and supplying us with details of local attractions and events.

Helen’s and Finbarr’s beautiful, comfortable and peaceful home is set in a stunning sea-view situation with some of the most spectacular sunsets we’ve ever seen. They have extensive land with fruit and veg plots which they invited us to pick from during our stay. Not least fresh eggs every day from their free range hens.

We are Ireland lovers and the Dingle peninsula has among the most unspoiled breathtaking scenery we’ve ever experienced. With long empty beaches, amazing hikes, lush green landscapes, great pubs with live folk music and of course world class beers!

Saving the best until last……Miss Ellie, Bobby and little Walter. Going for long walks with Bobby and Miss Ellie along their magnificent local beach was such a joy and the highlight of our day - with older (yet healthy) Walter the chihuahua, usually preferring to stay at home and ‘guard’ the property :)
The dogs are very affectionate and playful. We had loads of fun playing fetch the ball on the beach, and with Walter, fetch the Teddy at home. At first sweet Walter seems aloof, but after a few days, became playful, sat on our laps and came to us for strokes. All three enjoyed the fun daily routine of running up the hill with us to the top of their land in the evenings to play, enjoy the amazing view and sunsets. Followed by us all snuggling up together in front of the cozy wood burner before bed. We really miss them!

Thank you again for everything! We hope to get the chance to pet sit for you again.
