What a great start to my first experience of Trusted House / Pet Sitters! Tonya was a great sitter and our little cat, Daisy was so relaxed when we arrived home after 10 / 11 nights away on holiday. After being in boarding – who are always very good, Daisy is normally restless and a bit clingy when brought home but this time it was like we’d not been away! Tonya dropped us the odd photo. and update and on arrival home, the house was as good as left it and we had a wee gift of some lovely filter coffee from her. Highly recommended. :o)
This was by far the most perfect sit I’ve ever had in the past decade. Here’s the breakdown: Location: it simply can’t be beat in NYC. You’re near the water, have access to all the restaurants, entertainment and bars you could ever want. McCarren park is literally across the street, with other parks with East River access just a few blocks away. Literal perfection. Apt: so much character! It’s your quintessential NYC railroad apt and Michelle has done an excellent job decorating it and making it homey. It felt like I was in my old NYC apt! The bed is comfy, the kitchen crazy spacious and literally has everything you need. Margot: she is sweet, sensitive and so well behaved. So long as she’s near you or has eyes on you, she’s happy. Shes great on the leash (except if she spots a squirrel, then she’s on the hunt lol) and people will stop to pet her bc she’s so darn cute. She’s an excellent snuggler and burrows her little booty into you to get as close as possible. I already miss her. Michelle: she is just a wonderful human. Ever meet someone and just know they have a good heart? That’s Michelle. She was so generous and kind, great communicator and she was a text away despite the time zone difference. She’s a dream and has set the bar high for pet parents. Obviously I’m a fan. If you get a chance to sit for Michelle, run, don’t walk!
Jamie and Jeffie are warm, friendly, generous and very welcoming. Everything was organised expertly for our benefit. The dog care was individually written which made feeding, exercise and routine a breeze.. A spotless home with every comfort and well considered extras. The location is amazing with panoramic vistas from the sofa. Sky TV and Alexa kept us entertained when we could be drawn away from walking/ playing with the dogs. Fetlar, Jura and Sid are a joy to care for with different levels of energy. (Sid enjoyed a wee carry occasionally. ) Lovable, well behaved and complete cuddle bugs. We loved being with them and truly hope to see them all again.
I just loved these 3 little Special Needs Senior kitties! All are so sweet and affectionate and really enjoy being brushed, pet and having playtime. Each cat has specific dietary requirements so need to eat separately, and two required reoffering of meals in order for them to eat enough and ingest all of their medication. There were 4-6 medications to administer, as well as daily ear cleaning (medication related) for Tigger who also requires weekly subcutaneous fluids at the vet clinic. The cats know their routines and do quite well with it all. Cheryl and Norm are very friendly and welcoming. They left detailed instructions and communicated well with me throughout the month-long catsit. Their beautiful home is located in a safe neighborhood, backing onto a forest, so watching the birds come into the feeders was wonderful.
It was a pleasure to sit for Belle and Phoebe. Great communication from Phoebe and very straightforward instructions/information and communication during sit. Belle was a charming companion - very friendly and affectionate. The flat is in a great location close to parks and a wonderful green grocers. Good travel links DLR, tube and buses. A woodburner, loads of great books and a small private garden. It was my first time in East London and I really enjoyed it. I would definitely sit for Phoebe and Belle again. Thank you.
Great location and lovely hosts with tons of adorable pets
Beth and Stephen were lovely hosts, leaving detailed instructions in their welcome guide, explaining how everything in their house worked. The house in Bowie is large and comfortably beautiful. Sitters get the guest room which is conveniently downstairs with a bathroom right across the hall. The sofa bed is much more comfortable than I expected. Beth left clean linens and they have a towel warmer. . .my idea of heaven on earth. I really appreciated finding a hair dryer in the guest bathroom, since I left mine at home. It was easy to get to and from their house. It would have been an easy drive or train ride into Washington DC, but I was already committed to spending my days driving around the country-sides, looking for my next small town to call home. I found many cute quaint small towns not far from the cities. Each evening I came home to three lovable cats. It gave me something to look forward to each evening. The cats, Shelby, Scraps, and Puzzles, are exactly as Beth described in the Welcome Book. Caring for them was an honor. This was my first Trusted House-sitters’ Assignment, and one I hope to do again.
