Rick and Carol were marvelous hosts! Their welcome guide was detailed and well written, making it easy to mimic their routines and keep the pets in their comfort zone. Rick collected us from the train, and took us to the airport on our departure. Carol gave us a lovely meal on our arrival, and we enjoyed some great conversations together, sharing stories of our past experiences and travels. The pets were a dream to care for. Chico and Pepe love their walks in the neighborhood, and Pepe was a trooper when he accompanied us on longer hikes in the nearby Mission Trails park. Both dogs were super affectionate, although Chico was content to get some peace and quiet on his own from time to time. Kilroy loves people and was all over us from Day 1. Buca was a little more shy initially, but also enjoyed a little attention after a few days, and even came to sit on my lap when we were watching TV one evening. The house was lovely, with a comfortable guest bedroom and private bathroom for our use. We were also able to make use of their wonderful “spool” several times despite unusually wet and cool weather. We met several of their neighbors on our walks, who were very welcoming, all be it at an acceptable social distance! Our sit was complicated by the emergence of the Coronavirus pandemic. This curtailed our planned exploration of the area, with the exception of hiking in the local park. Hearing of the empty shelves back in San Diego on the news, Rick and Carol generously messaged us that we should help ourselves to any provisions that we needed from their freezers. They also kept us well informed of the evolving picture in Chile, and of all the resulting changes to their travel plans. Although they were gracious enough to say that we could stay with them after they had to book early flights home, we decided it was prudent to shorten our trip too, and managed to get a flight later on the day of their return. We were sorry to have to leave the “kids” and would not hesitate to recommend this housesit. Rick and Carol were the perfect hosts!
Tracy and Peter’s home, located in a quiet suburb of Santa Fe with easy access to major highways. The enclosed backyard is a perfect spot for enjoying the garden or even the use of their BBQ. They have two cats, both about three-years-old (neutered males). They play and scamper together. One cat can walk about the neighborhood on a leash while the second cat scampers alongside. Upon arrangement arrival, a day early allows a thorough walkthrough with hints on the appliances and facilities and care tips for the two-brothers. I enjoyed the open frankness with insights Tracy and Peter provided. The toys and attention, they love their wards and appreciate the attention Trusted Housesitters ensure. You’ll enjoy the stay, Santa Fe, and the brothers, Cato & Ninja!
I had the most wonderful time with Rudi and the cats. Rudi is such a well-behaved dog, he makes caring for him fun and easy. The apartment is lovely and in a fantastic location. You are only steps away from anything you could need. I had great communication with Laura and hope to sit for her again soon!
Mary and Brendan are lovely thoughtful hosts. The cats were adorable and easy to look after in this beautiful house. Around the village there are great walks to do from 2h to 5h, hot baths, and everything else a mountain station offers. I had a fabulously pleasant stay, thank you !
Our sit at Julie and Tom's was most enjoyable. We arrived at their home a day prior to their departure. In addition to their warm reception, we also were introduced to Scooby who is the most adorable mini Golden Doodle. We were provided a walk thru of the home along with a binder that included all pertinent sit information. A golf cart tour of the island followed. That gave us a good lay of the land for any outdoor adventures that we wished to pursue. The house is extremely comfortable. Some of the features that were high on our list were all of the walking and biking routes right outside the front door. In addition, the outside covered patio offered us an attractive view of a tidal marsh and birds. Of course, a key addition to our daily walking regimen was Scooby. Every day we went to the nearby beach, which allowed unleashed dogs up until 10 a.m. On the beach, he has unlimited energy and loves to chase his tennis balls and play with other dogs. We also took him on walks thru the tree canopied streets in the quiet neighborhood. Shopping is available nearby at a fully stocked chain grocery store. There is also a huge choice of restaurants to choose from. It all made for a great sit in a beachside location. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the sit, and one that we would love to do again. We definitely recommend it to others. Thank you again for the opportunity Julie and Tom
What a great sit! Lexi and Toby were such fun to spend time with for 3+ weeks. Toby is a Cocker Spaniel and the older of the two. He is very sweet mostly snuggling up to Lori when we watched TV. Lexi is a Yorkie - still a puppy but extremely smart. She is very passionate about playing ball as much as possible. Both respond well to instructions. Sharon and Ross are fantastic hosts. This was their first time using Trusted House Sitters but they seemed like veterans to it. Ross put together a great information document with details about the house and dogs. They also remained available for a few questions while they were away. We arrived a few days before they left for their trip. They gave us a wonderful walk through of all of the details of the house and the dogs. They treated us to a few meals in their home as well as dinner and an introductory drive around Kentville. They are excellent examples of Nova Scotian hospitality. Sharon and Ross' home is amazing. It was newly built this year with modern energy efficient features including smart toilets. We were always very comfortable. While our sit was in summer, I am certain the house would be just as comfortable in the middle of winter. Many other features of the house are wonderful...beautiful well laid out kitchen with everything you could need, comfortable leather reclining couches for watching TV, amazing master suite with adjustable split king bed and large shower, relatively private hot tub outside and grill / pizza oven outside. We really enjoyed visiting nearby sites in Nova Scotia during our stay. Toby and Lexi did well being at home for 5 to 6 hours while we explored. Peggy's Cove, Mahones Bay and Lunenburg all are must see sites...we broke them up over a couple days. Closer to the house are some good sites to see the tides of Bay of Fundy...Halls Harbour, Scots Bay and Blomidon Provincial Park. Sharon and Ross also connected us with neighbors happy to check in on Toby and Lexi if we wanted to be gone for longer. That allowed us to do a fantastic whale watching tour much further southwest along the Bay of Fundy beyond Digby. Lori and I wholeheartedly recommend this sit to others. We'd love to come back sometime ourselves.
