We had a lovely time on this sit. The house is spacious and in a beautiful, peaceful location. We were working remotely as well as having a few days off to see a bit more of the local area and we found the experience to be very calm and relaxing. Kat left clear instructions on the animal's routine which requires close attention but once you've gotten to grips with it is really no trouble. And the reward of being able to care for a gorgeous gaggle of animals is enough in itself. Everyone from the boys (Logan and Max), the cats and even the sheep showed us lots of affection - they really are a special group of animals which we grew very close to. The use of Kat's car was also super helpful and much appreciated! Kat was also very generous in ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable sit and helping us with onwards travel arrangements once the sit had ended. Overall we had a lovely time and would 100% recommend sitting for Kat and looking after this amazing set of animals. We would be happy to return at any time - thanks Kat!
Terry provided a wonderful, clean space with everything needed to have a great getaway. The kitchen was well-stocked, the neighborhood felt very safe, and the scenery was stunning. Maddie was the perfect companion-- extremely friendly, kind, and loving. She is a smart dog who is so happy to be loved and played with. I would be honored to come back and enjoy Terry's home again and spend more time with Maddie!
This was a lovely homesit with the affectionate Zeno. He's a very sweet dog. Loves his tummy rubs. Diana is great, communication was easy and I felt very at home in their space. The location is convenient with shops, cafes, the train all close by. Plus its great walking along the river pathways and getting to know Kew including Kew gardens.
Sitting at Hampton Court for Rachel was great. All communication was clear and easy. I enjoyed the cats company. Jasper is a dear and kept me company when I was home. And Millie walks a little more on the wild side but loves strokes and fuss when she's around. The house and garden are a delight - very comfortable, close to the station and food shops. I enjoyed the open air pool in Hampton, Bushy Park and walks along the river. Travel into central London was easy and I saw my girls several times. I would be delighted to sit for Rachel again.
This was the first time we had visited Costa Rica and it definitely did not disappoint. The dogs were great fun throughout the sit. They were far better than us dealing with the heat. Our routine was to get up early (6am), take them down to the beach or up to the river and let them run for a hour. Come home, feed them, then lie in the shade for the rest of the day. Just before dusk, when it was getting cooler we had a game of ball but even that was sometimes cut short because of the heat. They were far more sensible than us, finding the coolest place in the house, the bathroom floor and sleeping there. Lovely dogs but it definitely takes two people to take them all out together. Beware of the street dogs around the village. They can be very fierce towards them. Valentina is a lovely woman who communicates well. She left us lots of information about the house, neighbourhood and showed us the grocery shops. She also loaned us her car to get around. Her house is a typical tropical home. Basic but everything was there you needed - comfie bed, nice huge shower, two ring hot plate, refrigerator and lots of storage for clothes. We lived outside and was really only in the house at night to sleep. The area is not really touristy but has some fantastic local restaurants. There are two grocery stores and a building down on the beach where the fishermen sell their catch, the freshest fish you will ever eat. The large town is about 40 minutes away, on dirt track roads mostly so it’s a rough ride. We loved it as we were seeing the real Costa Rica. Unfortunately we had a family emergency back in Scotland and had to leave the sit early. Valentina was great and arranged a friend to look after the dogs till the new sitter came. Thank you for being so understanding and I hope you enjoyed your visit back home. I would recommend this sit to anyone who is independent and doesn’t need every luxury round the corner. It’s a real chance to “live like the locals”. Thank you Valentina for giving us this opportunity.
What a great experience this was! I had a great time hanging out with Janet's fur babies. "Queen" Anais was very independent and was gone most nights. When she did get home, she would take long power naps above my head and that was my cuddle time with her. Maileigh was shy at first but quickly warmed up to me. She's so cute and little and often followed me around the house until I picked her up. Janet was an amazing host! She was so hospitable and opened up her home to me. The house was walking distance to the cute shops and restaurants and only 10 minutes away from the ocean. I walked the trail alongside it everyday and definitely got my ocean fix. I got really attached to her fur babies and was very sad when I said goodbye to them. Looking forward to coming back soon! Wilma P.S. This review is long over-due. Holly has been caring for our 4 animals (2 cats and 2 dogs) for quite a while now, and she has been absolutely stellar! She is very communicative and very compassionate in the care of our animals. Pricing is fair. Two of our animals have medical issues and one of our dogs in particular has some mobility issues. Holly is always attentive and ensures our pup gets to play without pushing herself too far (she would play fetch all day if she could). When Holly cares for your animals, you can tell she really treats them like family. I would recommend her 100%. Thank you Holly for all you do for our family! PS: She takes some pretty great photos!

We left our pet rabbit with Holly for a week. I knew right away that she was in good hands. Holly carefully went over all the instructions with us before we said good bye and made sure our little bunny had a comfortable set up. Then, amazingly, we got wonderful photos and updates throughout the week. Everyone was having a good time together. We were so grateful to have found Holly to share their home and attention with our little friend. Holly is really special.

Holly provided care for our two cats for a week. I could tell by the cute pictures she sent each day that the cats were very comfortable with her. She even took care of an ant evasion we had, putting out ant traps we had to keep the pests away from the cat food! She always replied promptly to texts we sent while away. I will definitely use her services again.
Holly has taken care of my kitty a couple times now and has done such a good job. She checks on my girl reliably and sends me photo updates everyday so I feel reassured that everything is ok back home. Holly has been incredible with our 1+ yo dog, Maggie. Maggie is full of energy and love and needs a lot of attention and play. Holly expertly guides Maggie through her days and always sends us lots of great photos to put our minds at ease. She has been very flexible to meet Maggie’s needs and our busy schedule. Betsy and Amelia with Bowser’s Best Buddy are a cut above the rest. I see how much genuine love and care they show my pup, while offering positive and consistent training. My dog Otis attends their day program and has truly blossomed, from an excitable 1 year old adolescent to a well rounded, friendly, obedient member of their pack. Betsy has offered such valuable recommendations on how I could continue the training approach at home to keep advancing his knowledge. I found Betsy as I looked for a day program that wasn’t a larger scale “daycare” space. Betsy did a careful screening to make sure Otis would fit well with the other dogs and slowly folded Otis into the mix. Now that Otis is a “regular,” it gives me peace of mind that any newcomers to the program will be similarly vetted and introduced. A year into attending the day program, Otis is thriving and I am so grateful for the Bowser’s team (Finn, the elder pup, included!)

My wife and I frequently have to leave town on short notice for work. Betsy has ALWAYS come through for us. She is reliable and always respectful of our home. "No" or "I can't" doesn't seem to be in her vocabulary. Help over the holidays?! A foot of snow has the city locked down?! Out of treats?! No problem. Betsy just handles it. She is truly a professional and we wouldn't trust our furry kids with anyone else. I don't really know what other places charge for the same services but I don't care to find out. Betsy definitely doesn't charge as much as she should.

Ginger watched our dog Ellie, which is no small feat. Ellie is an extremely active cattle dog who demands activity. Ginger was up to the task and they fell in love with each other. Ginger is so caring and kind with animals it is really a beautiful sight to see. She really connects with all animals. All I can say is WOW - Ginger was amazing with my 2 cats when I had to go out of town. I am new to Portland and was nervous about finding someone to have come watch my cats for me in my home while I took my first trip out of town. I now have no qualms about future trips because I know my cats will be in great hands with Ginger and her team every time. She brought over toys and played with them and sent pictures/videos every day which was so great. I would 1000% recommend Ginger to anyone needing to find someone to trust their fur babies with!
Ginger has been taking care of my two cats for over two years and she is great! I have an 18 year old cat with early kidney disease and an 8 year old who is frightened of everything after being rescued by firefighters when my condo building had a fire in 2017. Ginger is patient with him and eventually gets him to come out from under my bed covers. My older cat just loves her and climbs all over her. During my last two week trip she came twice a day as it’s important for my older cat to eat regularly. She updated me with photos and videos, easing my anxiety at leaving them for so long. I totally recommend Ginger.

My dog Molly is 15. In her senior years she is slow and has some special needs. Joyce and Angela go out of their way to make sure she is cared for and every need is met. She loves being there. She evens plays and bonds with the other dogs. When I pull up to their home, Molly can't wait to get to their front door. It is such a blessing knowing she is in such good, caring and loving hands while I'm away.
I stumbled upon Jet Set Pet Sitters when I was in need of both daytime care and boarding while we were in the process of moving. Joyce and Angela are beyond FANTASTIC! They love the dogs as if they were their own. After trying a more traditional boarding facility last summer, I was nervous to leave our pup again. My dog has been visiting Maggie on and off for many years. Maggie is always quick to respond when I check her availability and provides wonderful care for my dog. The environment is like home, there are cozy places for the dogs to be inside, a safe backyard with shade and sun for play, and lots of attention. It's a home away from home for my dog when I travel.

I’ve boarded my pup (Clementine) with Maggie several times now, always for fairly long stretches. I used to be so nervous about leaving her for longer than a few days, but I have absolutely no anxiety about her while she’s in Maggie’s care. When I had a family emergency arise requiring an extension of Clem’s boarding dates, Maggie’s incredible understanding and flexibility alleviated so much stress for me and my family. And even when there hasn’t been an emergency, it’s so nice to be able to leave for vacation and only have to think about your dog when you miss her rather than worrying constantly. Maggie’s home is SO beautiful, as well as very clean and inviting to pets. I would actually kill for her backyard, which has so much space for dogs to run and play. Clem always has the time of her life and I feel good knowing the attention of the person watching her isn’t diverted by a million other dogs; the few she takes on at a time are enough for stimulation without being overwhelming. The near daily photo/video updates are so nice and my family always gets a laugh out of them, too. I love and trust this place so much that I’ve now recommended Maggie/Unleashed to every Portland area dog owner I know. Absolutely worth every penny every single time, I hope I never have to take my dog anywhere else. I honestly cannot day enough good things.
We boarded our dog for 9 days and were very happy with the TLC she got here. Photos and video was posted daily on Facebook so we could see how she was doing. The owner's home is dog-friendly but also immaculately clean. There's a huge fenced backyard for frolicking as well as an indoor play area for rainy days. We wouldn't hesitate to leave our big girl here again.
This is such a lovely idea, hosting a few dogs in your home. Our experience with this business was less than ideal, though. The owner asked us to bring our dog (a 12 year old male miniature schnauzer) over to meet her dogs, because she needs to know our dog will get along with her dogs. So far, so good. Our dog, while far from perfect, loves other dogs. He loves other dogs so much that at TWO of his past doggie daycares, they used him as the test dog to see if other dogs would fit in. He has gone all the way up through advanced obedience classes, has learned circus tricks, and has competed in agility. He even used to work as a therapy dog, visiting long term care homes. He has never been aggressive towards anyone, much less another dog. He is more likely to play himself to death with them. After he met the owner’s dogs (which my husband thought had gone just fine), she let me know she was uncertain if he and her older male lab got along. She wanted our dog to stay for a night at her house while we were still in town to find out if they were compatible. This seemed like a lot of effort, but, okay, I can understand being cautious. We took him to her place (at the cost of $50) and left him there for a night. The next day, my husband picked him up and she did not say a word to him about what had gone on. We assumed that meant we were good to go. We had already made reservations with her for our upcoming vacation, WELL in advance of the time we would be out of town. With less than a week before we were due to leave town, the owner contacted me to let me know that she had another male dog staying with her and she would need us to bring our dog back to her house again to see if our dog got along with this other dog. Seriously? What was she going to do if they did not get along? It seemed glaringly unprofessional to tell someone with less than a week notice that you are not sure if our dog (a much beloved family member) would be acceptable to stay with her when the rest of the family is about to leave on vacation. Talk about stress inducing. The owner’s continued suspicion that our dog will be aggressive towards other dogs was unfounded and, frankly, offensive. We have found other, better options for boarding our little guy. I guess if you have a female dog or a young pup, this might be a good choice for you. The yard she has for dogs to run in is wonderful, and they have lovely little beds to sleep in all around the house. If you have a male dog, especially an older male dog, be forewarned you might want to look elsewhere.
Maggie loves dogs more than anyone I know. She will always take wonderful care of yours.

I can’t say enough good things about Petlandia!! Wendy and Nate are so patient with my nervous pup, Roo. They are amazing about checking in; both throughout the day while he’s at daycare and weekly just to bring up occasional behavioral/health concerns. They both obviously care so much about each individual pup, and tailor their care for each dog’s needs! The Petlandia set up is so fun, and highly enriching for an adventurous pup. We only use their daycare services, but they also offer boarding/daily walks which I’m sure we will look into for future needs too! Grace and Roo 🩵 Petlandia!
We were so nervous about leaving our puppy, other dog, and two bunnies for a week over the thanksgiving holiday. We had Bailey come house/pet sit for us, and could not have been happier! Not once did we feel uneasy about our babies being well taken care of. Bailey was extremely communicative, sent us updates and pics daily, and made us feel completely at ease about not being there. I have used Wendy’s services for both daycare and overnight care and I cannot say enough great things about her! I have a bit of an anxious pup who doesn’t really like playing with other dogs and has separation anxiety. Wendy has done so much to go out of her way to make my dog feel comfortable and cared for. It's not easy to leave your dog when you know she is anxious but Wendy makes it so much easier with frequent texts and photos and by being so gentle and accommodating!
"Wendy and her team took such great care of our pup, both for walks and for boarding. He was an older gentleman who didn't always want to get going, and Wendy and her team let him set the pace. I highly recommend without any hesitation." That was my review from over a year ago, one dog ago. Now we have Oakley, a much younger and more energetic head strong girl who is so very well cared for by Wendy and Bailey. They have so much patience and insight into dog behavior. They use positive skills to coach our little one even when she doesn't want to be coached. Consummate professionals, they leave the dog and home in excellent condition with clear communication and frequent photos to let us know how our sweet one is doing when we can't be home with her.
Petlandia Pet Care is legit just the best. I’ve been working with them for 8-ish years and they’ve consistently been professional, communicative, and helpful. Additionally, words truly limit me in expressing my appreciation for their flexibility now, and especially during the pandemic, as my work schedule was unpredictable and changed constantly. When I adopted my Abbey girl, she was super beat up and had clearly experienced some trauma. Now my sweet girl is an arthritic senior pup, who continues to enjoy her unconditional love and pets and walks and treats with the folks from Petlandia. Thank you for all that you’ve done and continue to do for our pibbs!
We love Wendy and Petlandia Pet Care! I am so happy we found Wendy to take care of our pups when we are out of town. Wendy clearly loves dogs and she always takes such good care of our two pups. She is very responsive to messages and is flexible with scheduling. She sends us pictures and keeps us updated on how our pups are doing when they stay with her. Our dog was anxious the first time we dropped her off, and Wendy spent extra time with her and helped her feel comfortable. Our dogs love to stay with Wendy and we have peace of mind when we travel that our pups are being well cared for.
Petlandia is awesome! Wendy is awesome! I did daycare at Petlandia with 2 Shetland Sheepdogs and a Shih tzu. One of my shelties was very shy and scared of new things and people. Wendy worked with Tori and formed a bond with her very quickly. My Shih tzu loved the whole area to explore and play with other pups! She always had the best time. Hunter my older sheltie found his comfy spot and napped. My pups had a week stay with Wendy at Petlandia. I trust and love Wendy like no other dog care person!
Petlandia is wonderful! I have a pit bull/ heeler mix who often has issues with new people. Wendy took the time to get to know her and she is now officially on my dog's best friend list. I feel so much better leaving for work each day knowing that Wendy will be there to work with my dog. She is professional and a true animal lover. I highly recommend her and Petlandia. Your pet will be in amazing hands!
I have been a client of Petlandia Pet Care for many years and can’t say enough good things about their dog-walking service. They are reliable, and respectful. The communication is excellent and most importantly, my dogs love them and go bananas when they come over. I feel absolutely safe having them come into my home when I am not there and I rely on them to take good care of my dogs. Highly recommended.
Best pet sitter in the Portland metro area bar none. Diane has a passion for pets, and unlike some pet sitters she cares for special needs pets as well. My kitty is insulin dependent, and anytime we are leaving town we can trust to Diane to take care of him and make sure he gets all his medicine and insulin. I don't trust many people with my pets, but I trust Diane with mine. She has a passion for pets, and her kennel free boarding for dogs is top-notch. Any time I have to leave town, I can rest easy knowing our pets are well cared for.

I love the free day opportunity. It is understandable sense my dog has been training through severe separation anxiety for a couple months after his previous owners kenneled him until he was 5 months. He's a quick study and the man that lead him into his dog daycare was the 1st my dog has ever gone with without pulling and the man saw that he was better the next day. Phew! I recommend this place. Check out the savings on the buying options. The price is right. Also feels like a good and happy neighborhood dog daycare. My dog came back tired and ready to eat. They have great prices on meals but I just feed him so he has a routine.
My beloved, healthy mini schnauzer DIED in their care from horrific injuries. Your dog is not safe with them. I trusted them with my sweet little pup and he never came back home.
I called to speak with someone about boarding my dog and they were so rude! I said, "Happy Friday! How are you?" To which they scoffed and replied, "What do you need?" I said I was thinking of boarding my dog, but not when they spoke to me like that. The person laughed and said, "That's fine." And hung up. if this is how they treat the humans, I worry how they treat the animals. No thanks.
This place is awesome!!! My dogs love coming here, and they are always so tired when I pick them up, which is great because a lot of the time during the work week, I do not have time to play with them. Cheaper than any other place in the PDX area as they have package deals for weeks/months. More days you buy, cheaper it is overall. Pickup/drop off process is quick and efficient. The sweet lady that works here is a hoot and always making me laugh. Thank you, Safe Journey!
I just gotta say, I absolutely love this place! The staff and environment are incredibly friendly and welcoming. my two rotties always have such a good time there. I know my boys can be difficult at times, but they are very patient with them and they always come home happy and healthy wiggle butts! <3
Been coming here for since my dog was a puppy and she loves it! When I drop her off she gets so excited and runs straight to the door to wait for Julia or Craig to come get her! We love Safe Journey and are so grateful for your services!
I have nothing negative to say about them. Only thing is that i wish they were closer to Troutdale. I absolutely love bringing my dog here. He always comes home very very tired. You can tell that the staff here is very knowledgeable about what they're doing as well. I drop him off before work or a trip and i leave with a peace of mind. i appreciate how they try to accommodate my schedule as well. I also love how they don't kennel their dogs. My dog has terrible separation anxiety and a kennel would not be a good time for him. I really appreciate this business, and the staff that can make it all happen. I will be recommending them to anyone who needs a great doggy day care.
This place holds one of the worst experiences I have ever had. This happened 1 year ago. I took my sweet old pup there for a few day care trials in anticipation of a potential 10 day stay. He seemed to liked it so I went ahead and book his long stay. Conin was at Safe Journey a total of 5 days and he died. They emailed me while I was abroad to tell me my dog had not eaten in 3 days and that he was in poor health. 3 days! I immediately had a family friend go pick him up and 24 hours later he was dead. Not only this has been dramatic and absolutely devastating, but I also had to deal with the complete and utter lack of responsibility Safe Journey decided to take regarding this after I arrived back in the US. I received long emails from them with just excuses. I strongly believed that my dog was left in isolation, not fed and not cared for at all. He was so dehydrated when my friend picked him up, that even after 24 in intensive care they could not revive him. This place is extremely dodgy, they thrive themself as specialized in "difficult dogs", and so i trusted these people with my 15 year old mutt. He was a healthy old pup, and within 5 days he became ill and died. They took no responsibility, they did not offer to reimburse me for the days he did not spend in there, there was zero care, only a bunch of excuses. The recent number of horrible review have encouraged me to speak up. At the time, I reported them to the better business bureau. I strongly encourage you to do the same if you had a poor experience there. Below is a photo of Conin on August 24th (the day I dropped him off) and the photo of him 6 days after. Bless him.
We love Safe Journey so much! Craig and the team care so much about our pup and make sure he’s having a good time- whether he feels like relaxing alone or playing with others. It’s such a life saver to have a neighborhood hang out spot we can drop in any day or time. The rates are fantastic as well. Thanks Safe Journey team!
My dogs love this place! Kennels can be anxiety inducing, especially for resuce dogs. At Safe Journey, they get to socialize freely, making it more natural for all the dogs. In addition to our dogs being happy, they have very flexible availability and fair pricing, a must for last-minute travelers like myself.
