I'd like to begin by saying that our cat was well taken care of by Ashley and Menat. When we returned home, she seemed healthy and happy and for us that was very important. In addition to that, our home was very clean and tidy. However, we do have a housekeeper who came to do light cleaning during the entirety of Ashely and Menat's stay and who thoroughly cleaned after their departure. Unfortunately, however, we discovered AFTER we returned that Ashley and Menat invited a complete stranger to stay alone overnight in our home without our knowledge or permission and against the very specific guidelines we outlined in our home guide. Their reasoning was that they had not realised they would have to make a visa run - leaving the country and then immediately returning as their tourist visa ran out midway through their stay despite being informed this might be the case and something they should look into. They told us they were concerned in case there would be delays and our cat would have no care. Whilst we appreciate their concern and placing priority on our cat's care they made the poor decision to not contact us to inform us of any of this or the the decision they consequently made which was to leave our house key for an individual they themselves had only met locally weeks (or possibly even days) prior. This was, and to be honest continues to be, a major safety concern for us. Not only do we not know who this individual is but we also do not know how well she may or may not have cared for our cat, our home and belongings. She had our keys and was alone in our home overnight. As pet parents we know that the well being of our pet is paramount but we are also leaving our home and our personal belongings in the care of individuals who we do not know beyond their zeewoi profile and several video calls. This already puts the pet parent in a relatively vulnerable position. As we've had pet sitters in the past that worked out great, and our pre-stay video calls with Ashley and Menat were positive, we trusted that this arrangement would be the same and are so disappointed that that was not the case. In addition to their decision to allow someone else into our home, Ashely and Menat chose very complex and unusual last minute travel itineraries that continued to change up until the day of their arrival for the pet sitting period. Fortunately, because we have a housekeeper, we were able to accommodate these changes but for pet parents who do not have the luxury of having an additional person to step in and help at the last minute, that type of disorganisation would be very stressful. So it is with great disappointment that we have to leave a less than positive review for Ashley and Menat. We have used zeewoi in the past and it has been very successful. Again, Ashley and Menat seem to have taken great care of our cat, for which we are grateful, but they breached our home safety agreements and acted irresponsibly .
