Roodle, Vassi & Adrian were absolutely amazing. I had the best time caring for Roodle, he was the best companion to have & we had so much fun together. Roodle was so well behaved and such a pleasure to care for. It was also a pleasure meeting and becoming friends with Vassi & Adrian. Their home was lovely and they were so kind to me. I can’t wait to visit again soon and care for Roodle again in the future.

Cats were great. The house was full of cat hair, I sat down and was covered in hair and when I got home I had to use roller to try to get hair off my pants and shirt. I only wore the same outfit in the house since I didn't want to get my other clothes full of hair. A few dirty dishes in sink and dish drainer full to the top with clean, not put away dishes. Stove top was dirty. Never been to a place like that.

I wasn't given the gate code or building number so had to walk around trying to figure out where he lived, then called and waited an hour in my car for him to contact me. Luckily he did respond after that hour (he just got off flight). Very frustrating wasting about an hour and one half trying to get in. He needs to tell sitter all things that are needed to get into his place. Building number, gate code.

I felt bad about his house since I always leave the house spotless, but I sure as heck wasn't going to clean his house for him. I did vacuum every day and sweep. Made me wary of sitting for bachelors.

He did respond when I wrote him, but he needs to be proactive. Loved the kitties - sweet and beautiful.

Hate to write a negative review, but just feel I should be truthful so another pet sitter doesn't walk in to that.

This was a nice sit and I enjoyed it

The apartment:
This is a 2.5 bedroom apartment in Richmond, located on the 3rd floor (no elevator). It has a double bed, plus a sofa bed in the living room. It includes all the amenities you'll need to stay and be comfortable.

The location is great. It's a quiet street, a 15-minute walk away from pretty much everywhere (train + tube station, Richmond's central area and river front, Richmond Park, and Kew Gardens). Note that walking is your only option if you don't have a car. There aren't really any buses connecting to these areas.

If you're heading to the central area, make sure to check out Danieli on the Green for their excellent Italian style hot chocolate. Drink it on one of the benches by the river front for a perfect experience :)

Note that though the apartment is clean, it is a bit cluttered, as it's full of various things and items. That also means you can find pretty much whatever you need to make yourself comfortable.

It's also worth mentioning that you can hear airplanes flying overheard in all hours of the day (they stop at around 19:00-20:00). Also, if you're sensitive to the cold like me, note that the bed is located right below a window, which means it's colder than the rest of the apartment.

The cat:
Miauma is a small and old cat. She Does Not Like you, and you need to be okay with that.

Most of the time, you won't see or hear her at all, as she likes to hide and keep to herself. When you do see her, at first, she might hiss at you and be aggressive. I've dealt with that by giving her lots and lots of space, avoiding eye contact, and walking v e r y s l o w l y with no sharp movements when she's around. If you do that, then after 2-3 days she'll get used to you and simply ignore you instead.

Sometimes she will come to you for cuddles. Put your hand out and don't move, she will rub herself as she likes. Remove your hand after a few seconds, as she might feel threatened, then hiss and attack you again.

Also note that most of the time, when it looks like she wants cuddles, she's actually telling you to clean her litter. So if she comes to you, check if this is the case, or if maybe she wants some wet food.

Otherwise, caring for her is very easy. Keep her food bowl full, change her water every day, give her wet food when she wants it (she might not), and clean her litter, which she uses every 2 days or so.

Cat parents:
I was mostly in touch with Olga, who was very nice, met me at the train station, and explained everything I needed to know when I arrived. Note that she only responds to texts maybe once or twice a day, so in case of something urgent, you might want to call instead (I didn't need to).

Overall, this was a nice sit which I would be happy to do again.

Carolyn
This sit is exactly why I love THS. Carolyn was the consummate hostess, providing all the information I needed to care for her sweet and beautiful cat Daphne and stay comfortably in her home. Carolyn's home is clean and cozy and, even during a hot week, stayed comfortably cool using minimal a/c. The Oakmont Village community is a real treasure - people were friendly and welcoming and I felt like I was staying at a luxury resort - with golf, pickleball, a wonderful outdoor saline lap pool (one of three pools), bridge games, nearby lakes, mountains, and wineries, and more. It was a perfect vacation close to home and I hope Carolyn will travel again so that I may return. Thank you, Carolyn, for all your warm and generous hospitality, clear instructions, and for sharing your home!

I really enjoyed my time in Earlsfield at Ellen & George’s beautiful home! They had everything you need to be comfortable and it was super close to shops, transport & parks.
Ellen was a lovely host & excellent communicator, we met up prior to the sit to go through everything and she was always available throughout the sit.
Mollie & Monty were a gorgeous pair to spend time with, they gave me no trouble at all & lots of wonderful company :) highly recommend this home!
Thanks so so much for having me xx

Nancy
I couldn’t recommend this sit more! Nancy has a lovely home and everything you could need for comfortable stay.

You can tell that Roxy has been really well trained, she’s great off leash at the local park, loves food and back scratches. When it comes to Igor he is a very low maintenance kitty and keeps himself to himself.

Nancy made sure that I was fully prepared for the sit with a tour of the house/Roxy walk before leaving, left a thorough welcome guide and was always on hand to answer any questions throughout, making things really easy!
