This was Genevieve and Gerard's first sit and they may not fully have been aware of the guidelines of being a Trusted House-sitter. Genevieve clearly loves dogs and was very sweet with Riley. We got two great photos of her upside-down in Genevieve's lap. In many instances, Genevieve and Gerard took care of Riley as they saw fit rather than to follow our requests in the Welcome Guide. They made themselves at home and left it in a condition that was inconsistent with the manner of our other Housesitters. We cut our trip short for two reasons. The primary reason was that we were notified of the death of a dear friend and also we felt Riley's care was significantly below our standards. Until this sit, we have had outstanding experiences with zeewoi. This year we have traveled internationally and domestically. Each time we have come home to a happy, well-exercised and greatly loved Riley. Upon our return, we called Genevieve and Gerard to express our disappointment, to which they were very receptive and not defensive. They are a lovely couple and we are sure they will learn from this first experience.
Laura was a great cat-sitter, very easy to organise things with and very friendly, both beforehand and in person. She also clearly great with cats. She was very flexible and understanding when we ended up needing to pop back, which was really appreciated. She sent us regular photos and updates so we could see that our cat was having a lovely time with her. We came home to a clean and tidy house and a happy cat. Thank you Laura!
This was another lovely sitting experience for us. From our initial contact with Nadia it was clear how hospitable she is and that she wanted us to feel very welcome in her home while we looked after the gorgeous Gary. Her home is in a beautiful, quiet location; we slept well in the peace and quiet and we spent many relaxing hours watching the birds coming to the feeders just outside the doors to the garden. Everything we could have needed for a very comfortable stay was here. Including Gary! Gary is a lovely, chatty boy - while he was clearly put out that his humans had gone away he was happy to let us care for him, and was very receptive to stokes and pets, although he didn't seek them out. It seems very quiet back at home without him calling to us! Thank you Nadia - it was obvious that you hoped we would enjoy our stay, and we very much did. We would be delighted to look after Gary again in the future and hope that our dates might match up again in future.
