The housesit was okay, but Jamie gave me a very rushed handover as he and Ju were dashing out the door. The cat Loki was very distressed to be kept indoors and meowed loudly and often throughout the day and at night and tried to get outside often, scratching at the doors and doorknobs. I understood that he started life as an outdoor cat but would take off for days once outside, so now he’s kept indoors. Jamie said I shouldn’t even take him outside with the harness on him as it was too risky that he would run away. So there was this distressed cat to listen to, distract and play with, which was a bit of a challenge. Also the house was a bit untidy and the fridge, compost and sinks were not clean, so I cleaned them up. I have to give 3 stars so that future sitters understand this is not the most relaxed and happy animal situation and the home was not very clean. Also the hosts were rushing out and didn’t spend time welcoming me and calmly introducing me to their home and showing me where important toys, or modem or çan opener were located, so I just had to look about to find them or not. But the location of their home is very nice and it’s handy to explore all of Courtenay.
Barak and Bat-Hen are wonderful, they are so hospitable and friendly with two sweet daughters who showed me everything I needed to know before the sit. I need a Moomin - he’s beautiful, friendly and wild! Area was great and you should definitely check out Ploussard restaurant if you stay here!
The sit at Jo & Rob’s was a pleasure. Finn was an absolute dream to look after - he’s very cuddly, gentle and brilliant to walk and play with (his bell trick was extra impressive)! The home is lovely and despite living locally, this felt like a real holiday for us too. Jo’s communication was great and they did everything to make this a comfortable experience for us too. We would be delighted to look after Finn and Poppy again and were sad to say goodbye when the week came to an end!
I had a lovely time in Lincolnshire looking after Bean and Sky. They are both very well behaved and sweet-natured girls and it was a pleasure to spend time with them. Tim and Kerry have a beautiful home surrounded by green countryside where I enjoyed walking. They were very welcoming and helpful with excellent communication prior to and during the sit. I’d be very happy to sit for them again
