Judith was great! She fed and played with kitties and sent me daily photos of them. She left the house clean and tidy. I would have her house-sit and cat-sit again!
The first thing to say is that Fiona and Gareth are the perfect hosts: warm, kind, thoughtful, understanding, communicative and great company! The sit itself was a delight, not least for the space (the cottage we stayed in was really comfortable and lacked for nothing) and for the wonderful setting: this part of the world (SW of France) is an area of extraordinary beauty and soaked in history. The chickens are chickens: unproblematical and giving more eggs than one could possibly use. Daisy and Samy – two very different but equally loveable characters – are gorgeous, and clearly appreciate their human pack. Fiona and Gareth left us a welcome package with clear instructions: the jobs were few and easy, and the dogwalking was something to be enjoyed by both canines and humans. Our hosts were always ready to field any small queries from afar, and maintained contact throughout our stay (as much or as little as was necessary). We had a wonderful time in Dolmayrac. Thank you, Fiona and Gareth, for allowing us to sit Daisy and Samy and stay on your beautiful property.
It was such a joy to stay in Julia's home and with the world's most affectionate cat, little Pip! This was my first time in Richmond, and the apartment was the perfect location to get out and explore by foot and bike. On the days it rained, I was just as happy to stay in Julia's cozy living room and chat with Pip. If you're heading to Richmond, don't pass this sit up!
Jane and Clive have been the masters of ceremonies for our baptism into the mysterious cycles of nature in Derby. With great generosity they allowed us to learn the secrets of silence, the beauty of the countryside, the friendly fierceness of the horses and the care and attention that every living being needs to expand and grow. A week later, the ritual of waking up with the sun, feeding the horses, watering the plants in the garden, cleaning the stable and picking some fresh strawberries, spinach and onions from the ground became part of us, like breathing, laughing and love. Special mention to the culinary qualities of Clive in chef mode who delighted us when we arrived with Italian pizza, while Jane treated us to one of her Australian wines. Some words of that dinner will remain in our memory forever. Like this endless scale in this continuous journey through life that will meet us sooner rather than later again. Wonderful people with a great wisdom of life who gave us their home for more than a week. Our gratitude is eternal.
I had a really great time pet-sitting and house-sitting for Goober and Biscuit over Christmas. They are beautiful cats and have such adorable personalities, it's so easy to love them. Goober is such a funny cat and warmed up to me right away, and Biscuit got more comfortable with me the next day. Their neighborhood is close to lots of activities and plenty of great quality restaurants and super easy public transportation, which I made sure to take advantage of and enjoy. Alan and Lori made everything very easy and understandable to take care of their cats and the house, and I really admired how secure their house was and how safe and comfortable I felt there. He quickly answered any questions I had during the pet-sit, and was also able to notify me of any issues that came up that I wasn't aware of, which was very helpful. I really appreciated all the open communication that Alan provided. Both Alan and his family were so kind to invite me over to stay the night before they left, making sure I knew and understood everything, and even were so kind as to allow me to stay with them after they returned from their trip for the remainder of my own stay in Chicago. I felt so comfortable with their whole family that it was like being with my own loving family.
We had a nice week with Lucy and Kimber. They are very sweet and have their own unique personalities. The dogs are very gentle. Lucy loves attention and slept with us most nights. She is so funny with her silent barking and little spins. Kimber is very nervous and afraid of people. We were able to coax her to come for treats, but she usually kept her distance. They let themselves in and out of their doggy door. Laura and Sonny were good hosts! They were responsive and communicative. They made us feel welcome and explained things about their pups and their home. Their home is very nice and well equipped with everything we needed. Sitting in the lanai was wonderful! There were so many unique sounds and many different birds. We enjoyed watching and looking at the barred owls. What a treat! It was a peaceful and enjoyable stay. Thank you both for having us!
I loved staying at Shima and Eric’s with my son. Akira and Gumbo are so affectionate, gentle, and funny. It was my first experience with Great Danes and I fell in love! They’re well trained and calm, and great with people and the kitties too! At one point we had two dogs, two humans, and two cats all snuggled on the couch together! The kitties are great. Koko hung out with us, Kit came and went, Calvin came inside for pets, and Hobbies was happy waiting for me to come to her for cuddles in the garage. All of them were easy to take care of. Shima and Eric’s home is beautiful, relaxing, and comfortable. They had everything well organized for us. Thanks!
