Pete and Wendy welcomed me like an old friend into their home. Pete picked me up from the station, and they also dropped me back when it was time to leave. They also took me shopping and showed me a few spots around town, as well as organise a meeting in a cafe with their local contact. It helped me slip right into life in Thurso! Wendy also made a delicious gluten free bread for me, as I avoid gluten. She was very thoughtful and generous. Communication was also flawless from the start On to "the gang"... Molly is an elderly dog who can hardly see, but don't let it foul you! She will pull on the leash like a frisky teenager. She only takes short walks but really enjoys them. she is very easy going, quiet, and loving. She will just hang out around you when you're home. In fact, the 2 cats, Shackleton and Annie, will also hang out with you! They will make themselves comfortable in whatever room you are... They are also easy going, adorable and great company. It is best to have a car to explore the area, as there is only 1 bus per hour. And you will want to explore! There is so much to see. There are magnificent coastal walks to enjoy, and so much that I would still want to discover! Having said that, I did not have a car and still manage to explore. If you are used to leaving without a car and are quite adventurous, you will love it. Thank you Pete and Wendy for your warm welcome, generosity, and friendliness. I really hope to come back sometime.
