David and I clicked on the Zoom interview, but it was not a great fit, ultimately. The pets are fine, so the most important thing is that. And the house is fine. I guess I've been spoiled by great sitters who left our house impeccably clean and communicated daily with pictures and information that clearly indicated they knew our pets well and were taking really good care of them and our house. This seems to be the zeewoi standard. But I had to contact David every time I wanted information. He never contacted us once, although he did respond within the hour when I contacted him. But not a picture. Nothing. He even jokingly complained that our cat wasn't being warm enough to him and he considered himself a cat whisperer and was a little peeved. I laughed along and shrugged it off because he was such a nice guy. But I think he found my detailed instructions too informative? Over the 25 years I've had pet sitters some have joked about my very thorough instructions, but everyone, until David, told me they very much appreciated too much information rather than not enough. It doesn't appear he paid them much attention. He didn't recycle. He didn't take in our mail, several days worth was left sitting in our mailbox, which he explained was because we hadn't explicitly asked him to bring it in. The same was true about sending pics of the animals or communication. If I'd asked he would have, but I didn't, so he didn't. The same went for a package that was delivered the day we came home. It arrived at noon, 5 hours before he left our house, but he just left it outside. He said he figured it "would be fine" out there until we got home. He also left earlier than we'd agreed to over text. It's clear if you read the instructions what time the dogs eat dinner and I told him to please stay until dinner, walk them as instructed and then feed them before he left. He left an hour and a half earlier than that to meet friends at the beach. He also didn't follow the instructions for feeding one of our cats, about not leaving her food out because the dogs would eat it before she got a chance to. He did this at least twice that I know of. There was a coating of sand in the shower. The bed was made-ish. He didn't bother with the wash cloth on the bathroom counter I asked him to use to wipe it down so the poured cement doesn't stain. It was untouched, perfectly folded and the post-it note was still stuck to it . The floor was not swept, lots of fur tumbleweeds, although I'd left the vacuum out. And when I challenged him his response was that, "he was not a professional." Except that this site is based on a pay-based membership and at least I expect professional behavior from the sitters who I entrust with my pets and my house. He was taken aback by my texts challenging him when we got home and had discovered all the above. He said he's received nothing but good reviews before and I have no reason not to believe him. He also said he "probably won't use the app again." He said he was "feeling a little attacked" by my observations, even explaining that he'd been asked back by other sitters, and one even paid him some $, though he hadn't asked for it and never would. I've never ever had anything but great relationships with the sitters I've had in my home, through this site or before over the years. Some were long-term sitters for over a decade. I liked David very much as a person over the phone. I have to say we were not a good match once I came home and saw the lack of attention to our instructions, and that he hadn't cleaned up after himself thoroughly before leaving. Not all fits are good ones. This one wasn't for me., though I wish David the best, as he did me.

This sit was lovely. Rob and Sasha were so generous, kind and helpful, and their house is super comfy and clean. That pool! Such a treat, and a dream come true in the hot weather. Pups Nelson and Lola, and cat Nacho were like a little fur family, and a delight to be a part of. Lots of cuddles required, but the rewards with all the love were well worth it. This home was also in a lovely leafy area that made walking them really enjoyable. So glad I did this one!

Mehrunissa
I had a great time at Mehrunissa's home. She made it very easy for me to travel from the airport to her home by leaving me a detailed description. The bus stops right in front of her house, that is situated not far from Lake Zurich. I felt at home right away. The two cats, Daisy and Paddington, gave me a warm welcome as well. They are very independent, having their own access to the house, but both wanting lots of fuss.
Shops are within walking distance from the house. Zurich exceeded my expectations. It is interesting from a cultural and historical point of view, a very relaxed city.
All communication with Mehrunissa went smooth. I would definitely recommend sitting for her.

Michele
Great sit! Michele and Daniel were very generous!! They let me arrive several days before their trip and fed me 3 meals a day! Their pets are very sweet and friendly. The home has an UNBELIEVABLE view of Oakland and San Francisco. It’s in a quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors that were available to help with the pets and anything else I needed. I was allowed to use their car for hikes with Buster the dog and for personal use. I had a great time at their home in the Oakland Hills. Highly recommend this sit!

Jim
Sitting for Jim was such a great experience! The neighborhood was safe and so picturesque, and the house was beautiful and clean. Jim left detailed instructions for pet care and the house, which was very helpful. Sydney is an absolute delight and very mellow, and Gabi is very energetic and cuddly. My only negative experience was the rain! I highly recommend sitting for Jim, it was a wonderful experience.

Monique's apartment was very nice and Luna was a darling! Everything you might need for your stay was available and the proximity to Little Italy was great!

Jill
We had a short but sweet last-minute sit for Jill.

Arriving at her house, we were greeted by the sublime sight of three very excited Irish Setters who could not wait to cover us in welcoming kisses.

On this occasion, in addition to her two, Jill also had her daughter's dog for us to look after as they all headed to a family wedding. So ZaZa, Evie and Lyra were back as a mum and two daughters team, and they are so very sweet together, it's a true delight to be around.

After a walk with the dogs along the lane to visit Phil the horse, Jill cooked us a delicious supper, and we were joined by Mark for a fun evening.

For the duration of the weekend, the Setters were super chilled, very cuddly, and if there was an available lap, they were delighted to squeeze onto it. They all ate well, were very gentle, loved their walks, and playing in the garden too. At night, they were happy to head to bed, and slept through quietly down in the kitchen, as per Jill's instructions.

Phill the horse is self-sufficient and so we mainly visited him daily on our rambling walks, a myriad of which are available straight from the front door of the house.

It was lovely to have the opportunity to spend some time in the glorious countryside with the most gorgeous dogs and sweet horse.

Thanks, Jill!
