JEAN
We had a fantastic time at this housesit, Jean and Gerry are such lovely people who gave us a warm welcome and were so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Dobbie is an amazing companion. She is great off of the leash on lovely mountain walks, and otherwise is extremely quiet and no trouble at all. She is very loving and pretty much a perfect dog! We already miss her! Jack the cat comes by when she wants, she is a beautiful white cat who will meow at you for food and milk! We really enjoyed living in Cahir, it’s a perfect base for the area. Cahir castle is a must do, so cheap and great for photography! The people in town were so friendly and we enjoyed the local pubs and trad festival that went on. From Cahir you could go to nearby Cashel, Cork, Blarney castle, etc. We loved our time in Cahir and so appreciate the kindness and hospitality from Jean and Gerry. We’d come back any day!

What a wonderful experience it was to do small holding and housesitting for Claire and Mike. It was fantastic to do a pre-sit visit so we were able to meet them and familiarise ourselves with the set up for the animals and birds. We were given a warm welcome and detailed hand over information which meant we felt immediately at home and confident. The sit itself ran smoothly - feeding the animals was made easy by Mike’s organised layout of feed bins etc. The alpacas and goats are simply charming- sitting with them in the evening as the sun went down was totally relaxing!
We had many wonderful meals using the hen and duck eggs. It was incredible to see how the ducklings grew in the course of the week - and how their food consumption increased. So many great, new experiences! Even Poppy our Jack Russell Terrier mixed happily with the animals, particularly the goats! This is a wonderful area with a huge amount to see and do but we were happy to stay nearby and enjoy the company of the animals. We would love to pet and house sit here again if the opportunity arose.
