We were warmly welcomed by Leanne, Steve and their dogs. Leanne and Steve provided us with easy to follow instructions on how to care for their animals. Their five dogs were friendly and obedient and easy to care for as were the cattle, sheep, chickens and goldfish. Leanne and Steve own a beautiful property with wonderful views and excellent accommodation. Thank you Leanne and Steve and we would happily care for property and animals again.
Sonya left detailed instructions and put the keys for me under the mat because I arrived after she'd left, which was nice. There was an espresso machine which she told me to help myself, and the kitchen had adequate pots/pans/cookware which I like since I cook a lot. Be prepared to text with Sonya, she like to check-in quiet a bit and ask how things are going. So if you like to interact through texting then you're in luck. I prefer fewer interactions through text - I'm more of a caller. Sonya asked me to text her pictures of Ace, so be prepared for that as well. It wasn't a problem. But also she wants you to walk Ace three times per day - so heads up again. It can be a lot if you're trying to go out and do stuff, but if you're staying close by it's not that big of a deal. Sonya was flexible with arrival and depart times, she only wanted to know what time. All in all - it was a good experience.
We had a lovely week looking after Alfie in Forres. Katherine and Gavin are a lovely, friendly couple who instantly made us feel very welcome in their home. Their home is a comfortable, relaxing place to stay and Forres is beautiful. Alfie is an easy dog to care for and there are some nice walks close to home for him. He has his own routine about where and when he has his next nap and is a very contented dog. We loved our time here and became very fond of Alfie. We would definitely recommend this housesit and hope to return ourselves sometime.
An absolute delight to spend the holidays with Ginger in Mitcham. Adelaide is so kind and took time a day before the sitting began to show me around the house, how to feed Ginger, and how important things worked like the water heater for example. Adelaide has an exceptionally clean home and I really enjoyed staying there and keeping it that way. Her house in Mitcham is about three to five minutes walk from the train which will take you directly to central London. Everything you might need is walking distance: Lidl's, ASDA, Tesco Express are all about 15-20 minutes. Or you can take the train one stop up right next to Tesco Extra, a major grocery supermarket. Ginger likes a quiet person around. This sitting is ideal for a solo sitter who understands different natures in cats (maybe a quiet, very easy going couple). The first two days, Ginger preferred to stay in her basket hideaway in the back cupboard, only emerging for her feeding times and to use the litter box at night. She missed Adelaide! Just give her time to warm up to you and be present for her, maybe read downstairs or get some work done on your laptop quietly. A few days into the sitting is when she started coming out to say hello. We had nightly snuggle time at about 7pm before long, she'd run up to the bed and want to be pet and stroked gently after dinner, purring the whole time. Towards the end, she'd even get in the bed when I was in for the night and sleep for a few hours with me, which was very soothing. It's been a very uncertain year but I was so pleased that Adelaide chose me to care for sweet Ginger and her home while I'm in London. She was so helpful in helping me find the house and where to park my car when I had a rental through work. I'd love to be back if I'm ever available and offered!
