We met Lisa and Stephen for the first time the day before our outbound flight, and we immediately liked them. More importantly, our dog Mollie LOVED them. There was an immediate connection as Mollie greeted Lisa and Stephen. I could tell they knew dogs, and knew how to handle and communicate with them. Right off the bat we felt confident Mollie was in good hands. That day and evening we spent time with them answering good questions and watching the bonding between our dog and these new faces. Lisa and Stephen were dog owners, and they have logged in thousands of hours dog-sitting for their family and neighbors. It was clear they were highly conscientious; we could tell that just from the questions they asked. Communication was superb. We got several cute photos every day along with a brief report on how things were going at home. This really put us nervous parents at ease. They knew to call us with any questions or concerns, but that was never necessary due to their “pet competence.” The icing on the cake was when we returned home. The house was neat and immaculate, and Mollie was happy and playing with them both. A fresh tablecloth and flowers were on our kitchen table. How nice to come home to that. We hope we can have these folks back again. Our experience was excellent, and we recommend them to anyone looking for responsible sitters.

Amy
A very lovely spot in a great location. Amy provided excellent instructions. The dogs will definitely keep you entertained; we really enjoyed our time with them. Sydney is very friendly and approaches you right away. Breezy is a bit reserved at first. Addie takes the longest to warm up, but it's rewarding when she does. They all have different personalities and are very well-behaved and they love to snuggle! We would highly recommend this sit

Mary
Mary was not a nice person but malicious and is manipulative if she does not het her way.

I usually always use Facetime to speak to pet parents before committing to sits. She said she wanted everything in writing only. This was strange to me as it is not usual. She said she was really busy with her family.

I was to book the 12th through the 13th but she changed the date right before I consented to the 11th-13th. She said dates changed cause she had family plans changed. She told me I could come on the 11th at first then it became the 13th.

I was required to stay the night with her family of 7 and herself before they left so I could be with the dog during transition. I did not have to do this but I agreed.

1 week before arriving, Mary had kept texting me to talk to her and I was very busy. She would not talk to me on phone or FaceTime before this but only when she needed a favour from me.
.
Mary had asked if I could take her family to the airport and why she had kept texting me. I told her I would not be able to do that in my car so she said I could use her car. I felt obligated to agree so I did but said I needed to know she had car insurance. She said she did.

The airport from her house was about 1 hour 20 minutes each way. Out of my work schedule I did this for her without complaining and came the night before. The van had a broken gear shift but she never told me this before.

The house was left a mess and dishes in the sink for me to pick up after she and her family left

The yard was full of dog poop. I spent 2 hours one day picking as much up as I could. Most of it was broken down from weeks before.

During the next 2 weeks, Ella had jumped on the counters twice. The first time she tore opened a plastic bag full of oats. The second time, she tore open a $8 bag of blue corn tortilla flour. She had eaten some. I never complained or told Mary.

Mary never told me once in person or in the Welcome guide that Ella surfed counters. Mary never offered me any cupboard space. Only two small shelves in fridge. I told her I would keep food in boxes or in bags.

Ella had barked three times during the night for no apparent reason when outside. She was removed from the house by Mary's sister after tearing apart my food. $30 worth and this third time. I had never told Mary about the first two times. I let it go.

The next night Ella tore open a new bag of oats in a plastic bag and ate all of them. I left it for her sister to see when she came to get her. They were next to the stove range back far. I was only blamed by Mary for her dogs behavior for not giving her enough attention when I was with her dog 95 % of the time.

Just before this issue, about 1 week before the sit, Mary text me the following message:

Mary wrote me this:

"Hi Cara... We are trying to figure out transportation to the airport on Tuesday. Would you be able to drive some of us down? My daughter and her boys have a 2:30 flight... If you can drive them, we won't have to pay for a month of parking."

They could have taken a shuttle.

Halfway through my sit on Dec 27, 2022 Mary wrote me this:

"On another topic, Maggie and Matt and the two babies are going to be coming back to Seattle on January 5th. I'm sorry for confusing schedule, but we have had changes to our plans and they really just want to go back there and visit friends. We have a couple options, but the easiest would be if they can stay at the house. Is that workable for you? You are more than welcome to stay up to the 14th or whatever it was we said, though I know having babies in the house might be kind of disruptive. Maggie said she may also be able to stay with a friend if necessary, but honestly I think that would not be as good for them. Please let me know what you think. We can be really flexible here, so we want to work it out for the best for all concerned."

On Dec 27, 2019, I had been there almost 2 weeks and there were no issues.

I lost part of a tooth about Dec 25th:

Hi Cara, I got you a message about your dental emergency. What a drag, I hope you can get it taken care of. I did get a message from FedEx that the trees were delivered, I don't know if you've seen them yet with everything else going on. But my gardener will be there tomorrow, and he should be putting them in dirt, either in pots or right into the ground depending on conditions. When you have a minute, please just put the trees into the garage if it's supposed to be super cold, to protect the roots from freezing. Since the delivery was delayed so many days due to bad weather, I'm very unclear what condition they will be in, and I want to give them every chance to survive.

On December 28, 2022:

"Good morning Cara, I have a small favor to ask. On January 4th, my mechanic is going to come pick up the minivan to take a look at it and see what is causing the oil leak. I believe the van has been parked out in the driveway, right? The favor would be for you to grab the keys out of the key box in the laundry room, and leave them somewhere in the van for him. He's planning on calling me that morning to find out where they are."

On January 4, 2023 the day after the dog ate my food- all was fine till that point:

Mary's sister came on 6th of January to get Ella from me after the third food incident. Before this all was okay:

"Hi Cara, this is Kim, Mary's sister. I'm going to come get the van and Ella today. I'm not sure exactly when, but it will be before 6."

Mary has malicious intent to paint a bad black picture of me to make herself look better and there were many small favor she asked of me.

I finished my contract but gave her the option to allow me to leave on the 5th which I was happy to do if she paid my accommodation through the 13th but she refused to do that which was at $48 per night.

This is most likely why the retaliation because I gave her the option to end the contract so that I could go stay someplace else and then she said no you can stay on and through the 14th or 15th at that and this was at the end of December.

I never complained to her about the first two times her dog got into my food I just allow that to be the third time there was a huge mess and disaster I was only gone 30 minutes at the church down the street and I had come back with my car and the dog had torn up everything Mary never offered to reimburse me for this loss.

On the fifth when her sister came to get the dog I was compliant. Mary didn't ask me to leave so I was just housesitting there is no violence or anger or anything like that the dog didn't want to leave the dog actually pulled away from the sister and didn't want to go with her and wanted to stay in the house with me but the sister insisted on taking her and the dog went because it had no choice. I actually had spent two weeks with the dog and I was attached the dog as a pet sitter normally would be after spending a reasonable amount of time with any pet.
Mary doesn't care about your feelings she only cares about her own.

I actually was not going to leave Mary review I was just going to go on as an unpleasant experience dealing with her but she left me a bad review so I had no choice but to say the truth about what I experienced and she's trying to me malicious to me out of being spiteful.

Ella has some problems because she suffers from pruritus and itching disorder due to the food that she's put on and I told this to Mary Ella loses a significant amount of hair she has more hair loss than any dog I've ever seen or dealt with except dogs that have mange spots from losing hair from a skin disease but Ella has a lot of hair loss and there's hair all over the house on everything. Mary doesn't seem to think this is abnormal when it is she is neglecting her own dog to get better health.

Mary should acknowledge people who try to help her and give her free suggestions to have her dog better the dog has nutritional deficiencies and it has learning disabilities it will not be able to learn tricks very well or easy it's a nice dog. The dog is going on 5 years old. Mary will say the dog is young but its not.

Good luck with Mary I hope everything goes well for other people and she's not abusive to them as she was with me.

Lauren
Lauren's pups are incredibly sweet and full of love. Her apartment is extremely comfortable and accommodating for human and dog life. Her location was fantastic for amazing walks discovering the neighborhoods and she had all the backup supplies you could ever need for the pups. She left great instructions that were very clear and helpful.

Cate
Our 4 days became in 8 days with Cate and her family, we're really thankful to receive this big help before to go to the other house.
The two cats are just spoiled. Zinnia prefers to be more time outside and Olive just spends time sleeping. Bean and Gracie the two dogs are really active, they love walk and run, also get anxious when meet new people, but you have to give them time. The temptation treats are a good way to play with them!
At the end they get confidence and started to follow me everywhere around the house :)
It was a great experience.

Once again, thanks so much Cate.

Nat
Nat and Tom's home is clean and well organized. It's located in an area of downtown Savannah that is vibrantly eclectic. It's a short walk to Forsyth Park which offers a great Farmer's Market on Saturdays. After visiting the park you can continue walking to the center of town through many historic squares all the way to the river. There is a free trolley that circles around the historic district with a stop very close to Nat and Tom's if walking isn't an option.

Maia is very sweet and full of character. She is interested in everything you do especially if it involves food :). Walks with her were relatively brief given her stamina but they were always filled with adventure as she is an inquisitive dog. She is very loving and fun to be with.

Milo is very shy and other than making sure he was ok we didn't have a lot of interaction with him. This sit was only two days so he didn't have quite enough time to warm up to us.

We feel confident in recommending this sit.

Basha was such a sweet, easy pup! He was a great work from home companion. It was so easy to take him across the street for his bathroom breaks and longer walks with him were enjoyable. Lindsay was easy to communicate with, both before and during the sit.
