Lauren and Brandon were fantastic pet sitters! They left our house neat and tidy, and even helped our older pup feel comfortable going up and down stairs again. Would have them back in a heartbeat!
I had a great time sitting for Ozzy. He's a sweet kitty, and loves his playtime. And he'll be happy to show you his various yoga poses! Caring for him was easy, and lots of fun. Tracy and Matt are awesome hosts. Super kind, gracious, and quick to respond through texts. They have a lovely home, with a ton of natural light and genuinely sweeping views of the surrounding neighborhood(s). Bernal Heights itself has lots of character, and a few great coffee shops to boot. I very much enjoyed my stay, and highly recommend this sit!
This was our first house sit and one can only hope that all future sits are this enjoyable! The first night was spent in front of the fireplace watching a snowstorm roar through, with Leo curled between us. Jim and Deborah’s home is wonderful. It has a large, luxurious great room that is so warm and inviting. Floor to ceiling windows afford amazing mountain views and the voice activated surround sound adds to the entertainment experience. If you’re a foodie like me you will love the modern chef’s kitchen. We also had access to the amenities of their resort community, including indoor tennis courts and a state of the art fitness center. Leo their young Whippet, is smart, quick, very affectionate and just melts you with his big black eyes. He is quiet (I don’t remember him barking once) and reserved but has a wonderfully playful side as well. This breed is the fastest dog of their weight and they are sighthounds, meaning they need plenty of exercise as well as a strong hand on lead when outdoors for their protection. When they a deer, squirrel or another dog they will bolt if allowed. Leo loves to play inside as well and has plenty of toys from which to choose. (Piggy is his favorite) Lisa, Leo and I settled into a comfortable routine of two mile walks (steep climbs in those Carolina mountains) before lunch and afternoon visits to the dog park. Did I say Leo is quick? It is a thing you must see to believe. It’s as if he was fired from a rifle when he chases his ball. When he’s ready to leave the park he begins to drop the ball where he catches it, rather than bringing it back to your feet. Providing these activities kept him cleaning his bowl at mealtimes and sleeping like a baby. He loves to nap between meals and playtimes and slept solid from whenever we went to bed until between six and seven-thirty the next morning. The Tenneys were very gracious and generous, insisting we use whatever we needed from fridge and pantry. They provided easy to follow instructions for Leo’s care, maps to the dog park, waste disposal transfer station, local grocer, as well as recommendations for good local eateries and pubs. Caring for a Whippet is work. You must put in the time and care the breed demands. We went to the sit with this in mind and as Trusted House-sitters that’s what we do, right? But there was more than ample time to relax. We enjoyed the large screen television, read from the Tenney’s extensive library, listened to music, and enjoyed morning coffee and evening cocktails on the huge covered, wrap-around deck with those amazing views. We would definitely recommend this sit for any active person or couple who loves dogs, mountains and good clean air!
