Maggie and family were amazing housesitters. The sit was easily arranged with Maggie beforehand, she is very proactive, organised and reliable. Although the sit wasn't too long, we received pupdates by WhatsApp, and it was clear that our huskies were receiving all the walks and attention they needed. Ella Kate and Bree were also great with the huskies, and even wanted to hold the snakes when we got back! Very curious and intelligent girls, and it was a pleasure to have them. When we got back, the family were flexible with our timings and stayed so we could have a hand back, which was great. The house was spotlessly clean, and even our regular cleaner was impressed! Overall I would definitely recommend Maggie, Drew and their family, as amazing house and pet sitters. Good luck on your future adventures!
Daniel and Rhonda definitely walk the extra mile. They thought thoroughly about each detail to make our stay at their apartment as comfortable as possible. They were the first pet parents who emptied for us all drawers and shelves in their master bedroom. They provided us with even more than what we discussed or asked for. Their home was clean and cozy. They generously took us for dinner when we arrived and allowed to eat their food from the freezer and cabinets. They stayed at the hotel before departure to have enough time to show us around and to answer all questions about Luigi. Communication with them was always clear and helpful. Their cat Luigi is the sweetest. He is easy to take care of. We were feeding him breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rhonda showed us how to hold Luigi to help him eat and how to brush him after every meal. We also spent some additional time with Luigi just giving him attention and providing him with our tender care. He showed his gratitude by purring, it was a sweet reward for us. Luigi was great with our baby. He never showed his teeth or claws even when our baby wanted to touch or grab Luigi’s tail or ear. Luigi doesshow his boundaries by hissing loudly which we appreciated. We also were bringing Luigi to his litter box if he didn’t go by himself. Although sometimes Luigi would fall over and throw litter all over the bathroom floor, it was mostly easy to clean after him. We appreciated access to the pool. It is just a few minutes from the apartment. It was very convenient to walk there in the swimming suits and towels. Once the season started, we went swimming with our baby almost every day. Shirlington park in just a few minutes walking distance is gorgeous. We went running there. There are usually plenty of birds and squirrels there. I also saw a turtle. It’s beautiful to sit near the creek and read the Bible. It was my way to recharge. Shirlington downtown with the library, coffee shops, theater and grocery store is 15 minutes walking or a few minutes driving. It is a vibrant place to go out. Check events in the library - sometimes they have something truly unique. DC is just 10-15 minutes driving. It was very convenient to go visit Pentagon (you need to sign up for a tour long in advance, so come prepared) or to go to a DC church every Sunday. We also went to the ocean. Colonial beach was the closest (~2h drive), and we loved it the most. Virginia Beach and Ocean City were a bit further (~3-4h drive) and more crowded, but all this driving was so worth it. We were grateful to get guest passes for the parking lot near the apartment. Dan and Rhonda also found a spot at their friends’ to park our trailer. It was more than we expected. Daniel and Rhonda introduced us to some of their friends and we used those contacts a lot. They were so lovely that we hope to keep friendship with them even after the sit. If you get a chance to make a sit for Dan and Rhonda’s Luigi - don’t hesitate to go for it, it will be a very memorable time.
