Doggy Adventures is top-notch! We adopted a 3-month-old mixed-breed (German shepherd, lab, and husky) puppy from rural Alaska through a rescue group based out of the MSB. She is a brilliant and energetic dog that requires a lot of physical and mental exercise. The professional dog trainer we met with in November 2022 referred us to Doggy Adventures. The trainer explained that our dog needed to run free in addition to her other training (swimming lessons, obedience classes, leash walking) and socialization. We have been using Doggy Adventures’ services since December 2022. Doggy Adventures offers many forms of training and activities. Our dog goes on group off-leash runs/walks twice a week. She also has one-on-one training sessions with owner Melanie Carey for leash walking, running attached to a bicycle, pet-friendly store inside socialization, and appropriate behavior in those environments. Their pricing is up-front and well worth the fees. After every adventure, we feel like we're part of a team. Doggy Adventures sends us an email with photos, videos, and a recap of the day’s activities. We discuss what behaviors need training and how we can reinforce each other. We also celebrate the good and improving behaviors. It's a collaborative approach that we love. Doggy Adventures has covered a wide range of training areas, from respect for wildlife like moose and birds to recall, settling, and redirection. We've also worked on proper play behavior, stopping jumping up on us and others, demanding barking, and greeting us properly when we get home, especially if we have packages in our arms. At the same time, we’ve had no issues with Resource Guarding (food/toys). The owner, Melanie, is even trained to work with reactive dogs. The comprehensive training program has reassured us about our dog's development. We are never concerned about our dog’s safety when she is out with Doggy Adventures, and we reap the benefits when she returns home!! They are top-notch and a big part of our dog’s life, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We could go on and on, but we obviously think they are great and an extension of our dog’s family!!
Melanie and team did an awesome job taking care of our dogs while we were out of town! Everyone at Doggy Adventures truly loves dogs and they were so good with ours! They provided several reports throughout the day letting us know how the dogs were doing which made us feel very comfortable! Highly recommend!
I recently started using Doggy Adventures after shoulder surgery for my active 11-month old Golden Retriever, Ollie. He needed exercise and reinforcement of good leash manners and basic obedience, as well as time to play. Melanie's personnel have supported these goals and their scheduling software makes doing business with her easy and stress free. She is responsive to scheduling requests and provides feedback, photos, and videos after every walk. This has been a life-saver during my recovery and I plan to continue to use her company as needed to fill in. I do recommend her business.
A pet owner always has reservations about leaving their animal with someone else for an extended stay. Let your stress, worries and fears disappear when you use Doggie Adventures! Melanie is fantastic and kept us updated with photos and conversations the entire stay. When I travel over the rainbow, I want to come back to Melanie’s care and love!❤️ We could not have found a better person to trust.
We are thrilled to enjoy Melanie’s biweekly visits ! The email updates make me smile knowing my Maddie is having a wonderful time. We lost Maddie’s brother recently and this has been a perfect distraction for her while im at work!
My super sweet but timid pup was anxious at normal boarding facilities so we put her with Melanie and she absolutely LOVED it. She got daily walks, socialization in small groups, yummy food, and even got to volunteer. Melanie totally spoiled her and I was actually able to enjoy my trip knowing she was having a fabulous vacation of her own.
My experience with Doggie Adventures has been amazing! Communication is great and she made my pups comfortable from the start. My favorite part is the email update that tells me all about their walk and makes it sound like a real adventure. The accompanying pics are always precious. They offer a wide range of services so there are lots of options to keep your fur babies happy and entertained. This is a professional outfit and everyone is trained not just “good with dogs”. This is impirtant to me for my dogs’ safety and care. I highly recommend Melanie and her team!
I am beyond grateful and ecstatic that I found Doggy Adventures. Melanie has been absolutely fantastic. She has taken my pup in as one of her own. We recently relocated to Alaska from Tennessee and have been dealing with lots of anxiety and allergies. The military has kept me extremely busy and without a solid routine since our move. Melanie has gone above and beyond to take care of my girl while I am working long hours and unable to give my gal the attention and exercise she needs during the day. Melanie took the time to meet my pup and really learn her mannerisms. Ariel, my 9 year old German Shepherd, could not be in better hands away from me. I get pictures, videos and continuous updates on how she is doing through her day with Doggy Adventures. If you’re looking for the best place for your pup to spend time away from home, this is the right one for you. I highly recommend Doggy Adventures!
Melanie has been the absolute best! Our dogs love her and she's excellent at updating and communicating throughout her visits. When we had a difficult experience with one of our pups she was compassionate and showed so much empathy, I'm so thankful she's on our team and feel comfortable leaving my picky girl in her hands when we aren't home.
We love Doggy Adventures! Our pup loves going out weekly to spend time outdoors while we’re at work. The staff is caring and extremely knowledgeable. We trust that every time our dog goes out with them that she’ll return home safe and sound. They also work to reinforce her obedience training, which is so helpful! We’re so happy with our experience with them.
If you need an awesome dog walker, I highly recommend Paul. I adopted a dog with very bad manners, high energy and wasn’t even potty trained at 8 months. After working on some basics for a few months I started looked for help with walking and leash training. Roxie is a lab mix with high energy and because of her lack of training as a puppy she was very difficult to walk. She pulled, lunges, barks and in general was just crazy in her excitement. Paul came and did a meet and greet with Roxie and took on the job of helping me walk her twice a week. He is helping give her the exercise she needs but has also been helping with leash training and not pulling. After just two months I notice such a difference in her leash manners and it’s much more enjoyable to walk her. He also sends updates and pictures which I love seeing after her walks.
My pup Bobby loves exploring and the excersise he gets on his walks when I'm away at work on the slope! Pictures of his trail adventures I receive while I am gone really make my day! Thanks Happy Hearts 🧡 …
They take wonderful care of my pets! I truly feel like my cat is cared for by family when I have to be away and I try to seek out their services over others. Very detailed and excellent communication.
Paul and Cheryl are awesome! They are very accommodating to my crazy military work schedule and make sure to keep me informed on everything that goes on with my dog Ellie while she's in their care. Ellie loves her daily walks with Happy Hearts. Reliable, great people.
Paul took great care of our cat while we were traveling ! Also really appreciated the daily updates and pictures. It’s hard moving to a new place but we are happy to have found their services and will be using them in the future :)
If you want to rest easy while your pet is taken care of at your home, this is your pet service. Paul took care of my rabbit and although JUST a rabbit, he spent time with her, let her hop around, gave her loving pets and sent videos and pics at each visit that let me see how well she was doing. Absolute piece of mind while on was on vacation. Highly highly recommend.
I am so thankful for Happy Hearts Pet Care (Paul & Cheryl)! They are professional and they love the work the do. They treat your animal/pet as their own. Paul comes and walks our boy, Zeke, when we are not able. What a blessing to come home to a happy and tired husky! I get pictures of the dog walk which delights me to no end. You are in good hands with Paul and Cheryl!
A medical emergency and Paul saved the day! Traveling in an RV can be a challenge sometimes when you need help taking care of a pet. Paul was quick to respond, reliable, kept me informed and my dog was so much happier sleeping in her own bed rather than at a kennel. Definitely consider Happy Hearts Pet Care for your peace of mind and your pet’s happiness. Thanks Paul!!
Paul and Cheryl with Happy Hearts Pet Care are everything I was looking for in a doggy daycare. My work days can be 13+ hours and they put my mind at ease knowing my pup is taken care of. I love the pictures and videos I get throughout the day of the pups playing! My pup looks forward to daycare and is excited every time we pull into the driveway. I’m lucky to have found such wonderful people to care for my pup the same way I do!
Paul is so helpful with my elderly dog. He needs to be picked up while going downstairs and Paul is very gentle with him. He takes a lot of of time with my dog and I always know he’s well taken care of when Paul comes over! The pictures are nice too during each visit!
I have fostered many dogs, but highly recommend The Hound Lounge to volunteer your time too. They provide daycare and plenty of supplies to assist your foster pup, it's a team work setting and has been a good experience.
We were fostering to adopt a puppy from The Hound Lounge. The puppy attacked our other dog and I tried stopping the fight and the puppy attacked me giving me several lacerations in both arms and hand. It required a call to 911 due to the excessive bleeding and a visit to the emergency room resulting in stitches in both arms. When we reached out to the owner, she showed no concern AT ALL. We returned the puppy the next day and The Hound Lounge immediately posted the puppy for foster again knowing the dog was required to be in quarantine due to what had happened. The owner also called me a liar on Facebook and again, showed zero concern. Don't deal with these people if you wanted to be treated with respect.
I love the hound lounge! We take our pup here once a month and he loves it. He leaves exhausted and happy.
Can't say enough good things about the Hound Lounge! Our rescue poodle Archie has been going for over 3 months now and he is so excited to get in the door he tries to jump out the car window when we arrive. (he can't because he is buckled in). The Dog Handlers are so wonderful with him! Highly recommend!!
Loved our experience. We called and were able to schedule a same day temperament test so our pup could have a doggie play date instead of having to stay in the hotel in his kennel. They were super sweet, helpful and he had a great time. They even had Frontline on hand for him to ensure that he wouldn't come home with any "extra" friends. This place is fantastic and we'll definitely be using them again on our next visit down from Fairbanks!
Best first time grooming experience with the Hound lounge they made my German shepherd Zeus look amazing . My pup can be sometimes sketchy but he did great with the staff they made him feel comfortable. Great customer service. Will be coming back for my other two pups!! Thank you!
Great place to take your pet for daycare or some socialization periodically. Our pup loves going even if she is an introvert and this is one of the only places I know that takes pittopotamus. On the plus side your pup might become a star and make it on the daily post on their page.
I have been taking my two dogs here for going on 11 years now (Boogie and Bennie). We travel frequently and Hound Lounge is one of the only places I trust to leave them. Any issue that has ever arisen was taken care of by Beth (owner). If there was a mistake made by the staff, it was taken care of. I've interacted with some of the staff outside of the business over the years and have heard nothing negative about the Hound Lounge as an employer, so take the negative employee reviews with a grain of sale. Running a small business isn't easy and employees can be your best asset until they turn sour. I'm super thankful for how accommodating Beth and the staff have been over the years and appreciate the open line of communication. Would recommend to anyone who is crazy about their dogs like we are.
Zero stars is not an option but I would never support or endorse this organization. They take no accountability for their failed foster situations, they don't properly vet the adopters, and they charge exorbitant fees for services. They don't care about the dogs or the families they go to. They use public sympathy to garner support and donations, but obtain their "rescues" under dubious circumstances.
I cannot tell you how impressed I am with this place. From the first time I walked in there I knew the staff loved my baby the way I do. The place is spotless. I don't know how my puppy smells better when I pick him up then when I drop him off! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an awesome daycare, with an amazing staff and beautiful facility. Oakley gives it 5 stars also!!!
We found A Happy Dog after trying a different boarding place first when trying to find one that worked for our super social lab. The first one was alright, but there wasn't any dog interaction. A Happy Dog has been MILES better in every way, and our first visit immediately put us all at ease. Everyone we've interacted with has been super helpful, accommodating, and shown true love and excitement for our boy. He gets SO excited when we drop him off, and he comes back so happy and worn out 😂 it's so reassuring when I call to see about boarding space and the second I mention my dogs name, I hear the girl on the line go "oh Argos!!! Yes!!! We love him!!". Edited to add a photo of him being so tired and calm after playing all day that he won't even touch the new toy I bought him!
My dog has been coming here for the last few months and I cannot say enough good things about the staff here. They do such a good job taking care of her. She is so excited to go hang out with her friends whenever I drop her off, and I know she is safe and supervised playing with dogs her own size. She gets loads of outside time and absolutely adores the staff. Again, I can't say enough good things about this place
My dog is a sweet, gentle soul, but Happy Dog Day Camp wouldn't even allow us to schedule a behavior test (which my dog has always passed) because he's a Staffy. It's one of the most misunderstood breeds that faces widespread misjudgment, and this institution upholds and supports those stereotypes. For a dog daycare business, behavior/temperament should be the primary consideration, not breed. Focusing on behavior, rather than breed, creates a safer, more enjoyable daycare environment. This approach also helps reduce breed discrimination, which this business is actively supporting. It makes me question their knowledge and expertise in this field.
This is my dog waiting patiently to go to daycare. She loves it there, and I enjoy dropping her off because I can see how excited she gets as we pull into the parking lot. I have been going there for several years and I am pleased with the services I have received. My dog also does overnight boarding and this allows me peace of mind because I know she is well taken care of and I don't have to worry about her while I'm away!
I recommend this place to everyone. My dogs are so well taken care of here. Even when I pull up in the parking lot, my dogs know where we are and they start jumping up and down with excitement. They don't even want to come home when I pick them up. The staff is fantastic and keeps all the dogs safe and entertained. Thank you Happy Dog!
Our dog absolutely loves boarding with A Happy Dog Day Camp and Boarding. Flexible hours for drop off and pickup and reliable communication makes it an easy process.
All the staff is amazing! My dog loves going here to play. Their rates are great. The place is very clean and homey feeling, and everyone treats my dog as if she were their own💚 …
They offer unbelievable rates and service. The staff has worked so patiently with our Sadie every weekday for nearly two years now and we count ourselves very lucky to be customers. Can't say enough about the care and attention they provide even on the busiest of days. Great place, great employees
So far so great. I have an activity tracker on my dog and it shows he gets tons of active hours during the day. He gets home tired out. When I take him to dog park, he knows a lot better of how to play with other dogs after going to the day care. So far, my goals of letting him get good exercise, learn better social skill has all been achieved. The price is very reasonable as well. I plan to let him spend couple days a week regularly.
We've been taking our pup here for a little less than a year and she loves it! She gets super excited in the morning when we drop her off and pick her up in the evening. We love the friendly staff, reasonable prices, and convenient location. We also love the cute paw print artwork :) 10/10 would recommend!
I met The Dog Mama through serendipity at Connors Bog. I was new in Anchorage and had a young dog. I was looking for doggie daycare with walks to keep my pup fully exercised during the week when I was super busy with a major project. Was I ever lucky to run into The Dog Mama! She started watching my dog very soon after. He already had experience with doggie daycare and been socialized to play with other dogs so he fit right in with her pack. She keeps her dogs in her control which was a huge reassurance to me. I wanted someone who wouldn't let this big puppy play on their sympathy! That is, I didn't want his training to go out the window while he horsed around all day. The Dog Mama has a wonderful, peaceful demeanor that sets the tone for the pups. I always felt like my dog had a good day of play and rest when I picked him up. He wasn't overstimulated by constant barking (like may happen in a bigger daycare facilities). I just loved bringing him to The Dog Mama. She's a great dog mom.
The Dog Mama is great! Alysha does an amazing job taking care of Agnes the chocolate Lab while we are on vacation. It’s so good to know our pup is in safe hands while we’re away. Plus, Alysha sends fantastic updates with photos of dog walks and other adventures. Highly recommended!!
We have used Alysha’s dog sitting services a few times, and we are so happy we found her! Our dog Jack loves having some pals to hang out with and of course the awesome adventures he gets to go on while he’s at Alysha’s house! Alysha will keep you updated with pictures of your dog having the best time! She is a great communicator. Drop off and pick up have always been easy to schedule. We recommend her 100%!
Alysha is probably the only person capable of turning my crazy boy into a puddle. Both of my dogs love her but my boy Bob would probably vote to live with her instead of coming home. She takes them on daily adventures, sends the most beautiful pictures and updates, and really makes them a part of her family. Seeing them play with her family and pack gives me the peace of mind that even when I’m not there, they’re having the best time. Plus, when they come home, they sleep for pretty much 24hrs which is exactly what I need after a vacation or business trip.
We love The Dog Mama! Our pets are well cared for, instructions are followed, they get great walks and they enjoy playtime / socialization with a small group. Our two Schnauzers get excited when we pull into the driveway....and that’s their 5-star review summary!
Alysha was absolutely amazing with our two dogs Lilly and Bridger. She made sure we were kept up to date on their activities and sent plenty of photos during their stay. We are so lucky to have found her and plan on using her services again in the future!
Alysha opened up her home and gave the best quality time, attention and care to our blue heeler for 10 days. Knowing Alysha's active lifestyle and kind spirit - this gave us such peace of mind while we were out of town. Our dog was exercised every, single, day and slept next to them every night. Please highly consider having her watch your lil loved one, she'll treat them like family and ease your heart while you're away! Thanks for everything A!
When we bring our dog to stay with Alysha and her husband we know he will be loved, kept safe, and have an active and fun time while we are gone. They are very responsible, kind and caring. As a matter of fact, when we come home you can tell he misses his pack. They are the only people we trust enough to leave our dog with when we take a trip.
I have been so fortunate to have found such a great family to watch my Romeo!! Every day I get picture updates from the long walks, and I know he is always being taken care of like he is one of their own. I Highly recommend Alysha and family if you are looking for someone trustworthy to watch your pup!
Unlike traditional doggie daycare/boarding, my dog has been genuinely happy here! My favorite part is that the owner sends me picture updates and I can clearly see that my dog gets individualized attention, lots of exercise, and monitored play time with a small group of very friendly dogs. I'd give more stars if I could!
We have a Samoyed who is equal parts rambunctious and anxious, so we did a lot of research before taking her anywhere. Lake Otis VCA actually recommended this place to us. We took Kuma to the temperment test, and even though we were nervous, she was perfectly happy to leave us and meet new friends. When we got her back a few hours later, she was tired out! She's got long, fluffy, white fur, and her coat wasn't any worse for the wear! We took her back a few weeks later for her first full day away, and she did great. She was asleep in the back seat before we left the parking lot. The owner definitely puts her best foot forward and runs a clean shop. The play rooms are bigger than some of the other places in town we checked out. Every time we drive by there, someone is outside with the dogs, just playing with and cuddling the dogs. I'm really glad this place was recommended, and it's a great way to get all the puppy energy out!
They take such good care of my little Doxie. They are the kindest and nicest group of people! Our dog loves going there. We really appreciate them! Clean and nice area for the doggies. Plus, you get an adorable daily report card!
Our dogs love going to Barking Lot Doggie Daycare! One of our boys, Flash, has been trained to respond to leash pressure (no pulling, yay!) but BOY does that training go out the window once he realizes where he’s at! He absolutely loves doggie daycare and my old man Max really enjoys the company as well as basking in the sunshine. Max is very attached to me (I’ve had him since he was 10 months old and he does not like being away from me for long), but he doesn’t even acknowledge my existence once we get to the front counter LOLOL if that doesn’t say something then idk what will 😆 I was also told that Max nose boops dogs he wants to play with? That’s attention to detail right there ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I didn’t even know Max did that ❤️ I also absolutely love getting the “report card” complete with pictures and who they played with during their time there.
Katie and her team are sooo lovely! We were very lucky to find this place for boarding and daycare while we were visiting the anchorage area for a few weeks. Our pup loved his time here and the team. They were great communicators and I so love the "bark report" they send you with pictures of your dog and a summary of their day. Wish we lived closer so he could come here all the time :) Thank you so much for loving my pup like your own guys!
I am very protective and specific on who cares for my dog and I’m so happy I found the barking lot! I’ve had great interactions with every worker, they’re always happy to see my pup, who is always happy to see them. Typically a separation anxiety, clingy dog, just trots right in tail wagging happy as can be. They are a bit pricey, but I think you get what you pay for. They do a report card at the end of each day with pictures, videos and description of what your pup did.
Katie and her team are life savers and excellent caretakers. My pup is usually very shy but they make him feel comfortable even with other dogs (he is usually a bit fearful). They always send me updates on how my baby boy is doing and a daily photo showing his goofy antics! Katie’s team even helped me out when my pup ran out of food due to a missed flight by grabbing his specific food brand! My dog usually suffers from separation anxiety but I can tell he enjoys his stays here! You can’t go wrong with this doggie daycare and I can’t say enough good things!!
Incredible!! Great facility and super friendly staff. Doggy fun for all breeds. Full disclosure: I am a Canine Hospitality Professional here at The Barking Lot every Saturday and Sunday since about June of this year. I love working here because the owners focus on the dog's well being before anything else! Positive reinforcement and absolutely the best treatment and loving care for all our wonderful dogs. I'm always proud to say that I work here. The Barking Lot team truly strives to be the best at providing a safe, healthy and fun place for dog daycare and boarding, and I'd bring my little girl (timid Husky) here any time. Like a lot of you, I won't leave my girl with just anybody! I hope to meet you and the 'kids' soon.
My fur baby absolutely loves going to the Barking Lot which is the most important to me. The facilities are always clean and staff are always super friendly.
Excellent care and activities for my pup. He gets so excited as we walk up to the front door. The facility is always spotless and I love that they have multiple rooms and play areas for different energy levels and sizes of dogs. Robin is super friendly as is the entire staff. I won't take my dog anywhere else! He always comes home exhausted from play and they are receptive to our training needs when I tell them any problems we are working through. We sure will miss them when we move away!
These are the most thoughtful, considerate, and allover wonderful people. My dog absolutely loves going here! She is always happy to go in and is practically levitating to come meet me when I pick her up. 15 minutes later she sleeps for hours. Easy and fast drop offs, equally easy pickups. Happy pup, happy me. I only wish they had more days available for her!
The absolute best dog daycare and boarding around! My pups always have the best time here. They are sound asleep as soon as we get to the car from all their playtime and activities. Love to have the peace of mind that when I leave my pups here they are very well taken care of. Love what Howling Peaks offers, they really care here ❤️
Our Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy Sierra has met her BFF Bruno at Fireweed Howling Peaks puppy resort! Sierra gets mental and physical stimulating experiences under the watchful eyes of Holly and her crew. Thank you Panna Lynch Jarussi
I wanted to send my new pup to daycare. Called staff and shared vaccine records and was assured that he would be ok to proceed with temperament test. When my husband arrived they said they wouldn’t see him due to him not having bordatella which I completely understand and we were happy to reschedule; however, they decided to charge my card without authorization and said we forfeit the deposit for not being prepared after I was told it would be ok by staff. When called and asked about the charge and if we’d be charged at the time of reschedule, they said yes we forfeit the deposit for taking up a slot even though we showed up on time and the had even staff said “oh we missed that, this is our fault.” My husband contacted Holly whom just wanted to lecture him about vaccines and not take any accountability. Judging by other reviews on here, I can tell she has poor customer service skills and instead of addressing an issue she puts blame on the customer. I’m actually happy this happened and we won’t be sending our pup here. A day care that is more worried about collecting charges than the care of your pup! We have since found a much better daycare that has strong communication skills. *EDIT to response* Staff said they would re-schedule the DAY of free of charge if we could get the one vaccine that day when his appointment was in the afternoon and no vets were available to get him in. Which shows their knowledge base because even if the vaccine was completed that day, the full affect would not take place for 10-14 days, so realistically it would be unsafe for him to attend even if the vaccine was received day of. Manager must also have a name Holly that claims she is the owner because he asked to speak to the owner or maybe the staff are just gaslighting us. I understand the policy and I am not upset about him needing to be re-scheduled. The point of the review is to show how money hungry this company is. Holly, just wants to continue to lecture us about vaccines while the problem at stake here was not addressed. I even gave them a week before posting the review to give the business time to make the problem right.
We initially signed up for private training at Howling Peaks for our 1 year old pup who had developed strong reactivity toward strangers for no apparent reason. We had never experienced a dog with stranger danger before. He is not dog-reactive and has never shown any aggression toward us or our two young kids, even when they're rambunctious. On his first vet visit he bit the vet who approached him too quickly and he then bit a family member who does not live in our home. We have been training with Justin Macias, who has been a huge help to us. He's patient, incredibly informative and has a positive non-judgmental approach to training. He has given us the skills to manage our dogs reactivity and after a lot of hard work in class, at home and outside the home, we have seen so much improvement. At the end of our 4th class, Justin actually knelt down and ruffled our dog's fur in a long pet! A huge milestone for us as it was the first time in the 9 months we've had him that anyone outside of our immediate family has been able to pet him. We had a temperament test with Holly as well as the other staff who are all equally as great with dogs. He passed his temperament test and is able to join in daycare fun that will help with his socialization and stranger exposure too. I highly recommend getting in touch with Howling Peaks and committing to spend the extra time and effort at home if you're struggling with behavior issues with your dog. We are so grateful we found them.
We have boarded our dog here for the last few years and they still are trying to bilk us for "3 half days" to acclimate our dog to the facility. For new customers, ok I can see why it's necessary. For repeat loyal customers, it's a scam! We did the temperament test the first time. Did the 3 half days the year after that. I think they are trying to make every cent they can off us, when it already costs quite a bit to use their services. Not to mention our dog came home with Kennel Cough last year. It's a shame and we will seek other boarding. Place was better under the previous owner. *Edit: Their policy says: "New boarding clients are required to complete 3 half days of daycare prior to boarding". Not "ALL", but "NEW". No after 1 year exception listed. It's an easy way for them to collect additional funds. Conveniently no mention of the Kennel Cough in their email reply or review reply either. She did make sure to detail for the world my business history, which is completely unprofessional and shows her maturity level. *Edit: Go ahead and read the above again. There was no name calling, which again speaks to the maturity of the owner "Holly". If you can't handle an honest review, you should not run a business.
Howling Peaks dog training is a one person operation, with an excellent dog trainer. She uses positive techniques to help dogs and people understand each other, and to help dogs become contributing members of the family. Our dog is a rather difficult breed- intelligent and wily; but also funny and loving. Holly was able to help us teach her to behave properly in the house, respond to most commands, and now we can take walks with our canine friend. I highly recommend Howling Peaks for personalized dog training!
Our dog just finished a two week boarding stay at Howling Peaks. Every aspect of her care was done with thought, care and professionalism. Communication was constant and precise with our dog’s wellbeing continually monitored. She loves going here and is always greeted by familiar, friendly people who love dogs. Detailed care was given to her food, exercise, down time, hygiene, socialization and health. Highly recommended!
My dog, Katie, regularly attends daycare and boards at Howling Peaks and I couldn’t be more pleased with the facility and the level of services they provide! The owner, Holly, is truly knowledgeable about dog behavior and reward-based training; and the staff reflect this positive philosophy when interacting with the dogs (Owners can watch their dogs from screens in the lobby!)! Everyone greets Katie by name and are attentive and supportive of Katie’s individual needs. I highly recommend Howling Peaks Dog Daycare and Boarding if you’re looking for an enriching environment for your best friend!
Couldn't recommend a better dog daycare! We have friends who use their training and have had great success, and know if we get another pup they will do all of their training and daycare here as well. Daycare is our dogs favorite activity that tires him out while keeping him trained and polite. The staff couldn't be more amazing! Photo of how happy our dog is and the fun activities they do.
I absolutely love Howling Peaks! They have an amazing staff and owner who are very attentive to the dogs in their care. I always feel comfortable leaving my doggies there for boarding when I have to travel and they are just the best! The day care service is also top touch. I can not recommend them enough!!! They are professional and create a fun and safe environment for my dogs. I can't say enough amazing things about Howling Peaks!
I never have to worry about leaving my dog with the folks of Howling Peaks! My dog always leaves so happy and exhausted. One thing I appreciate is that they don’t let my dog walk all over them and instill some obedience and boundaries. This makes it easier to bring my dog home knowing he’s not learning any bad habits while at daycare.
My dog loves this place. Always a happy camper when I drop her off and pick her up. Clean and friendly place.
2023 Q4: still haven't used boarding, so can't comment there, but review remains accurate. If anything i think the reliability of staff is without comparison. 2023:Staff and services are very well put together. Staff basically will know you even if you don't come in super often. Great attention to detail, clean, and honestly I'd recommend it. Not open on weekends which can be a damper for when you might really need daycare. Seems to be mostly for the COVID dogs and RTO.
I bring my girls in for daycare once a week. They do pup art and it was the cutest! I love hanging my girls art work at home. I have a whole puppy art wall at home and I love it.
Great staff, my puppy loves going and is super excited every time we walk through the door
The best in the business.
Thank you Morgan!
Brandon was awesome with my dog! He genuinely cares for dogs and I was very comfortable with dropping my dog off. I have an Akita mix that can be very mischievous and sometimes aggressive and now he is trained up very well. Excellent service I cannot recommend enough!
I can't say enough good things about this dog training program! Brandon was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about helping our dog Apollo succeed. The curriculum is well-structured, covering everything from basic commands to advanced behaviors, and it's tailored to fit each dog's unique personality and needs. Brandon was always available for questions and sent daily updates to include videos which was the highlight of our day! The primary goal was to get Apollo trained to fly comfortably on a plane. He was previously very reactive on a leash when seeing other people or dogs. We took him on the plane the day after completion of training, and Apollo was complimented many times for how well-behaved he was. We can't thank Brandon enough! If you're looking for a dog training program that truly delivers results while strengthening the bond between you and your furry friend, look no further! Highly recommended! 🐾✨
Update 12/14: It has been six months since Link’s 2-week board and train and his behavior continues to be stellar both on and off leash! I have gotten so many compliments on his behavior from other dog owners when they see us out and about. I traveled to Wisconsin with him to visit family, and during the visit I brought him into a memory care facility to visit my grandmother and he was perfect. My mom said he was a calming presence- he didn’t pace, he laid down and even slept. This training program continues to be worth the money. I am so impressed by him that I’m looking into getting him trained to be a therapy dog for my clients in a mental health practice. First post: It has been about two months since we got Link back from Brandon M., and let me say that it was worth every penny we spent for the two-week boarding program. We take him on hikes now, into pet-friendly stores and he’s a total delight to bring along. He heels on command, ignores other dogs and it feels amazing having a dog you can trust outside with others.
After two weeks of training with Brandon, our German Shepherd showed great improvement in commands and discipline. We were initially apprehensive about leaving our dog for two weeks, but it turned out to be such a great experience for, “Hunter”. Brandon put our minds at ease by sending videos every other day of Hunter and his training sessions. It was so fun for us to get to watch the improvements he was making. (We were like kids in a candy store waiting for the videos to come in). 😅 We are DELIGHTED to award Brandon with a well deserved five star review! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Brandon was great when we picked Hunter up. He spent over two hours showing us how to successfully work with Hunter. He answered all of our questions and we never felt rushed. Thank you, K9 Off Leash, for pairing Hunter with Brandon. They were the perfect match! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We are so pleased with our decision to spend the money and give our GSD the best possible opportunity to be the best dog he can be!! 🐾 Bravo K9 Off Leash for making good on your advertisements… in closing… We don’t know what you pay your trainers, but we’re pretty sure Brandon deserves a raise! 😉 #gowithbrandon #simplythenest #huntermissesbrandon ❤️
I had my two standard poodles Wags 1 yr and Ranger 4 yrs train with Brandon at the same time. Brandon was excellent with daily update, the communication and video shots on the daily were excellent. My husband picked up the dogs and went through the training. I unfortunately was out of town. Brandon took the time to take me through the training when I was back in town. He was very thorough and answered all my questions. Even after the training was complete he took the time to answer a text I had sent regarding training! We were very pleased with this training process and our trainer Brandon! Thanks 🐾🐾🐕🦺🐕🦺
I had a great experience! Brenna Newman really cared about my little dude and did a great job. You can tell she cares about the dogs and she is very knowledgeable. She is personable and honest. I highly recommend her! Before doing the 2 weeks board and train, Charlie was your average puppy that's been home trained. Better trained than most, but definitely had a LOT of room for improvement! He's still learning and growing, and this training was perfect for him. I'm very excited about the lifetime refreshers and plan on using them for future tricks as Charlie and I continue his obedience. Brenna will also be my first choice if I ever go out of town and need boarding. The price might seem overwhelming to some, but a properly trained dog is priceless, and the lifetime refreshers are an exceptional bonus! It's definitely worth it. Pets are an investment and training is a necessary part of that investment. This training is well worth it!
Hello my dogs Teddy(Malinoi)and Honey(Husky/Lab) were in the 2 week boarding and training. They were with Jeremiah Shultz. He was very responsive, clear in what what he would be doing with training, and very open to any questions. On a daily basis we would be in contact with pictures and videos of the dogs training and the progress of training was very obvious. My dogs came back to me better than they left, everything that they learned from Jeremiah stuck with them. He has also made it clear that post training he will be available to give advice and tips when he has time. I’m happy I sent my dogs to get trained with Off Leash k9 Training. I’ve attached some pictures and you can see how happy my dogs were. :)
My husband & I are now proud parents to two Off Leash graduates. To say I was skeptical that my stubborn 8 yo pibble, Rocky, would change his ways much is an understatement. And even worse he was teaching his bad habits to our 1 yo puppy Moxie. Astounded, astonished, baffled, ecstatic, overjoyed are only a few of the superlatives to describe my amazement in both Rocky & Moxie’s behavior improvements just after their 2 week sessions. Rocky, who with no distractions pulled my arm out of the socket regularly & is very leash aggressive when encountering other dogs, now walks like a dream. He can still be reactive when we come across other dogs but Jeremiah has armed us with the tools to redirect & deescalate him with ease. Moxie still has much of the puppy energy so still pulls on leash but only when she has to get a sniff of something or wants to meet a new friend but nothing like before & just like her brother is responsive to us when we properly use our tools to distract & redirect. Jeremiah also curbed her jumping up behavior, now we’re working on a command so she knows when she’s allowed to jump up & give us kisses versus her previous behavior of demanding to all the time. Finally we have found the “place” command to be so useful to keep our pups out of the kitchen when we’re cooking & out of our laps when we’re trying to eat. Literal night & day!!! While the sticker price for the board & train program can be jolting I’m here to tell you it’s worth every penny! Thank you both to Justin & especially Jeremiah for taking such great care of our crazy babies!!
I cannot recommend the 2 week board and train program more! Our dog Juneau was a village rescue who came with her own unique set of quirks and was lacking a lot of confidence. She’s smart and always responded well to training with us, but it was clear that she wasn’t reaching her full potential without the help of a professional. Her trainer, Brandon, did wonderfully with her. We received daily updates with pictures and videos, and he made it so easy to learn all of the techniques when we picked her up. Not only has her confidence improved, but ours as well. We love the new freedom we have with her. Seriously, you won’t believe it the first time you see your crazy dog do a perfect heel!
We were so excited when Off Leash K9 came to Alaska! We had previously used Off Leash K9 in Georgia when we began training our puppy Maverick in 2019, and were thrilled with not only the results, but the experience we had with the company and trainers. This past summer we got another puppy, Goose, and training him came to be pretty difficult. Being in nursing school, the 2 week board & train was the best option for us. I was a little apprehensive because I do not trust many people to take our pups, but I knew a focused and immersive environment was exactly what Goose needed. Jeremiah went above and beyond, surpassing our expectations! He cared for Goose and treated him like part of the family - as well as provided and maintained a safe environment that was conducive to his training. Jeremiah would send us daily pictures, videos, and updates of Goose - which I looked forward to everyday! When we went to pick up Goose, we could tell how happy and comfortable he was during his stay with Jeremiah. The progress/change we saw in Goose, just in a short two weeks, was astonishing! It was as if we were taking home a whole new dog! He not only focused on Goose's progress and training, but made sure he was having fun along with lots of play time. With our continued, amazing experience with Off Leash K9, I will forever continue to take my dogs to them and no one else! They focus on safety, building positive relationships, providing positive experiences, all while treating your pup as part of the family - which that is so important to me. I cannot recommend Jeremiah enough! His training with Goose provided the best foundation that will benefit him for a lifetime. We love this company and love our trainer, Jeremiah! I can't thank y'all enough!
Love this place—Arfie’s deserves a 5 star google rating! My adopted malamute mix Ollie has separation anxiety and he loves going to Arfie’s, and they love having him. I often pick him up close to closing and never get any pushback. The business is ran by very professional and kind gentlemen in a cute and convenient location, and their pricing is amazing. (The 1 star reviews doesn’t even make sense…its pride month and they do have pride gear on their property, they’re located next to a bar that also flies a pride flag. I’m almost positive the people giving Arfie’s a one star review had the wrong business). Happy pride month guys!
We love Arfie's! They are so awesome with our rescue dog. We adopted him over a year ago and he was two years old. We were told he may not get along with other dogs but he wasn't doing well in his crate at home alone. In fact, he went through 5 crates in a few short months. Friends recommended Arfie's and they have been more than awesome. First of all, they have socialized our pup in ways I think it would have taken me and my husband months and months to do. We can now go for long walks with much of them off leash and we can have doggie play dates with friends. We owe a lot of our dog's progress (and our progress too!) to the gentlemen who run Arfie's. Secondly, they will board him when we are out of town and he's always supervised so it's ideal for pup who doesn't like to be left alone at all. I wholeheartedly recommend Arfie's!
The owners are awful... my friend was parked in the parking lot across the alley and these people came out cussing at him that he was parked too close to the alley - and even called the police (who ignored the call I am sure). They then got their patron fired up and she came out and cussed at my friend and I and actually called my friend a ‘fa%%ot’ yet they fly the gay pride flag. Do not do business with these bad owners and neighbors. If they treat your dogs like they treat humans, your dog will be abused and yelled at all day.
While my experiance was not as a customer. It was as a patron next door over. They were yelling at people over a few inches of parking space near an allyway. They used foul language, and made threats to myself and others outside. They fly a gay pride flag and yet called people F*ggots in this situatuon. I would avoid this place at all costs. They clearly are not good people.
Great place to have your dog cared for with love!
My golden retriever stayed with southpaw for 10 days and it was his first time being away from us and we were so stressed, but southpaw spoiled him and took care of him and made sure he was comfortable. They even moved him closer to the heater because he can't have any blankets or beds due to his love of chewing things up. I will definitely be using them for any boarding needs in the future!
My fur-niece Rosé (XXL Pitt) stayed here recently while my sister flew out of state and Rosé was very shy and timid when she first got here (only used to being around family) & the staff here was very friendly, took great care of her and allowed me & my other sister to visit her during visiting hrs to walk her and check on her. Over time, Rosé grew so close to H (one of their staff) & Kris ! Both were very awesome & made us feel welcomed whenever we came to see Rosé, we appreciate all the love and care you guys gave her ! Definitely recommending to everyone we know 💙
BEWARE: I never boarded my animals before, so don't leave your companion here for a long period if they have separation anxiety. I work seasonally for the tourist industry, and I was never home to care for my girl Zoe for the summer. I informed them about Zoe's behavior and eating habits, and they said they could handle it. Zoe had separation anxiety, and required human interaction. She also was very picky with what she ate consistently. I also took her to the vet because I could see that she was losing weight after 2 weeks of her being there. I changed her feeding arrangement, and they said they were feeding her and that she was eating but I was concerned that she might have gotten something from another dog. She was in the facility for 2 months by the time i took her to the vet. They tested her and they didn't find anything. Two days later she died of dehydration and starvation. I think for a business who's been open for 8 years they would know how to handle pets who refuse to eat. The doctor who saw her at emergency said she was emaciated and that this wasn't the first time she saw this but that it was the worst. The owner said she hasn't been eating for days but didn't let me know that till she was in the emergency. I found that they didn't communicate with me appropriately or as often as I would have liked. They didn't allow dogs to play or interact with each other especially if they were large dogs, so they were crated the whole time. They allowed my dog to sit in her urine, so when I visited she smelled of urine. In the end, she starved to death. She also took no accountability, the first thing she said was "I hope you're not mad at me, this wasn't my fault" but she was under their care. Animal control was called on her, and because they had 1 video of them feeding her, and because of Zoe's history with anxiety they aren't going to charge her. So, if you have a pet with issues, find another location.
Very thankful & appreciative towards the staff at SouthPaw Kennels. A special thank you to H for working closely with her & going above and beyond so my furbaby Rosé could feel comfortable during her first stay in a boarding kennel.. Thank you to Kris for helping & caring for her as well.. Thank you all so much!!!
Our dog loves Southpaw, the staff have taken the time to get to know him and pamper him. The large kennels with outdoor runs are wonderful!!
First of all Elise/Southpaw was so accommodating with drop off and pick up times and well as allowing my older guy have his favorite pillow for his two week stay. It's always tough on humans as well as K9s when your disrupting your normal living situation, and Elise did all she could. I appreciated all she and her staff did to make it the best stay possible.
The best part of having our dogs at Southpaw were the video updates. Our kids loved ❤️ seeing their dogs happy while we were away. One of our dogs was very shy, and we worried she would have a hard time without us. Not at Southpaw! 🐶🐾 She warmed up quite quickly with Holly and her daughter. Elise, the owner, was awesome and a pleasure to work with. Thank you so much Elise and Holly! Our dogs will definitely see you again for our next vacation.✈️
Southpaw is our new go to for leaving our pups when we have to travel. Doggies have and indoor/outdoor kennel so they can relieve themselves when the urge hits rather than waiting to be let out. Very clean facility, some kennels leave your dogs smelling like they've been in a barn, at Southpaw they came back clean and ready to romp with us. Elise and Kris show an obvious love for doggos... Five Stars, we'll be back!
I was impressed with South Paw kennels on Old Seward in south Anchorage. I’d recommend them for birding for a few reasons. I started taking them there a couple years ago. My dogs receive good care from the staff there, and now the dogs get very excited when we drive up to drop them off. What I like about it is the way their facility is set up to benefit the dogs- they house them in these indoor/outdoor long, secured runs so they can get outside and enjoy the sunshine, or come in and stay warm if it gets cold out. I requested that our dogs board together because they are social that way, and it was no problem. Plenty of space and fun for them. The secured runs are about 25ft long so it’s better than other places where they are confined. The staff take them out from time to time to give them a little extra attention. In all, great place and reasonably priced. Easy to check them in and out and very responsive and responsible owner. Highly recommended!
I have had the pleasure of using Southpaw twice now and will not go anywhere else. The care and treatment that our goldendoodle received was top notch, including periodic text updates with pictures!! Elise is just wonderful to work with and our dog just loves her! We hate leaving our pet but love traveling so it is such a blessing to have the piece of mind that our cherished pup gets the highest quality treatment. Highly recommend!! Until next time!
