This was our first time having house sitters and we were very apprehensive about it. We made plans for Richard and Maricella to arrive at our house the day before we were leaving and to spend the night with us. We felt a little bit awkward having people spend the night with us that we had never met before. However, after meeting Richard and Maricella and chatting with them for a while, we felt very comfortable with them and it felt like we were with friends. We had them house sit and take care of Marley for two months this winter. One reason we were so concerned is because we have hydronic wood heat, and if it isn't properly maintained it could cause us huge problems. During the winter someone has to go out in the cold every day and throw logs into the heater. Richard understood the system very quickly and did a great job with the heater. While we were gone for those two months, we never worried about anything. They regularly sent us pictures of Marley, sent pictures of things happening around the neighborhood, and even offered to do odd jobs around the house for us. They offered to drive us to the airport, pick us up on our return, and even to make dinner for us when we returned. Although we had already made arrangements for a ride to and from the airport and had plans for dinner, when we got home we had homemade apple pie and ice cream waiting for us. It just doesn't get any better than that does it? We are kind of clean freaks and we didn't really expect to come home to a house as clean as we keep it, but it was. It was so nice to get home after a long tiring day of travelling and not have to do anything. For a couple of days after Richard and Maricella left, Marley kept looking for them. He missed them. If you are fortunate enough to get Richard and Maricella to apply for your house sit, I suggest you jump at the chance. We are already trying to reserve them for next winter. Not only did we have a great first house sitting experience, we have made some new friends. Thanks guys for a job well done!
Terri is fantastic. She arrived the day before and it was great to have her around to introduce her to the animals and show her how things work. The dogs were so happy with her and when we returned our home was immaculate. We can’t recommend Terri too highly and we’d love it if she could house sit for us again, or even just come to stay. We feel we made a friend.
Staying with Zephie was a real treat! She is a sweet and affectionate furry companion. Susan made the sit even better by being very clear with her instructions, as well as checking in regularly to make sure I had what I needed. I would definitely stay with Zephie on another sit!
