I enjoyed this sit very much. Ginny is a gracious host and always responsive to my questions and messages. Dazie and Billie are absolutely precious. Dazie is a little shadow and follows you around closely. She's very smart and does a good job of manipulating you to get what she wants. Billie was one of the sweetest and most purrfect cats I've ever met. He loves belly rubs, and overall , it's absolutely the cutest. The location, East York, is one of Toronto's many neighborhoods. There is public transportation close by, and it's not terribly far from downtown. The neighborhood is quiet, and I felt very safe there. I would definitely recommend this sit, I'd love one day to return, yet not in the winter. It was pretty cold and gloomy a majority of the time.
The house is spacious and comfortable and the dogs great company. They’ll follow you everywhere, but always discreetly and don’t get under your feet. Indoors they are very chilled and relaxed dogs and really well behaved. For this sit you will need to be content with walks around the small urban streets because the nearest park is 20 minutes walk away. If you are a solo sitter you’ll need to do this up to 5 times a day because the dogs can’t be walked together. The homeowner did warn me that it is a busy (cobbled) road so can be noisy at night. You will need to sleep with the windows closed (which are good double glazed widows) because this is the case. If you like an urban setting close to town and would like to take short trips into the centre of Porto this will be ideal for you.
I had a great time at Natalya’s place! Her apartment is clean, in a secure building, and well located. Bonnie is sweet, loving, and low-maintenance. I was nervous about watching a dog in Europe since the sidewalks and streets are so small. But Bonnie is great on leash, aware of her surroundings, and friendly with all dogs. It was easy and relaxing to walk her. She’s also great on the metro/in a purse. I really enjoyed spending time with her.
I had a great stay at Claudia and Brian’s house, and their sweet kitties, Moco and Moflete were great companions. Unfortunately moflete got an eye infection within a few days of me arriving, but Claudia had a good network of help so we were able to get her on the road to recovery, Poor kitty. Claudia and Brian are very gracious hosts, and I would definitely sit for them again.
Oliver and Ida are a dream to house sit for. They are very clear on everything that is needed and it is a very fair amount of expectations. They are very hospitable with their home and honestly you couldn't ask for better people to work with. We fell in love with Strudles. He is shy at first but when he comes out of his shell he is such a cuddle muffin. He is also hilarious and loves to greet you with meows. When he is playful he loves the laser but also likes you to mix it up with his toys. The appartment is brand new with a beautiful view of a park and some trees. It was a dream come true watching the snow outside. It's under a 10 min walk through the park to the train and only 2 stops to central. We would house sit here again in a heart beat. David and Martha are the sweetest and their animal kids take after them! Jack is a sweetheart, who is very well behaved, with bursts of exciting puppy energy, and lots of licking love to give! Once you win Calli over, she is a very affectionate, sweet cat. They are both very easy and a joy to care for!
