I felt so lucky to do this sit, because it was one of the loveliest I've done. Christina and Francis were very friendly and welcoming, and all the communication and information was superb. The South Downs national park is one of the most beautiful parts of the country and the house has amazing views of it, and it's just a short drive to gorgeous walks on Chanctonbury Ring. The house is large and comfortable, and in a very quiet, peaceful location, with amazing books everywhere, and even a piano. The animals were all incredibly sweet and easy to look after. Badger, the old lab, and Sidney, the old cat, are so chill and undemanding, and radiate serenity. Plimsoll, the 1 year old cat is a different story, and is all about lively, kittenish charm, but is just as undemanding. There are also the friendly chickens, who would run up to me whenever I came to feed them. Badger only needed a couple of short walks a day, which left me to spend most of my time working on my laptop, looking out across the beautiful view, watching the sheep and pheasants in the field, with Sidney every now and then coming in for a cuddle on the sofa. If that's your idea of bliss then this sit will be perfect for you!
What a wonderful housesit! Shuki is a really sweet and mellow dog, who likes to nap, but summons his puppy energy to play in the backyard or celebrate meal or treat time. I worked much of the day, and during Zoom calls, he either napped in another room or lay on the floor near my feet… I couldn’t have asked for a better work-from-home “colleague.” In the evenings, he’ll happily cuddle with you on the couch. I miss him already! The house itself is spacious and homey, located near great coffeeshops and restaurants, and a perfect home base from which to explore Oakland or Berkeley. BART is about 15 minutes away by foot, so even downtown San Francisco – a 15-20 minute ride from there - is easy to access without a car. Finally, Marjorie was kind, thoughtful, and communicative at every stage… I felt like I was a guest of her family. Her guidance seemed designed not only to ensure Shuki was properly cared for, but also that I fully enjoyed my stay. I would housesit for Marjorie and Shuki again in a heartbeat!
We had a lovely time at Deborah Jills home with her menagerie of dogs and cats. She has rescued these dear fur babies and given them the best home and lots of love. Two of her 3, houndies need a daily walk and all need encouragement to have a play in the afternoon. The cats need love and attention and the kitty litter changing out. Camano Island is a lovely Island with lots of walks to do. The State park is great. We bought a yearly state Park pass so we could come and go as we pleased. The animals can be left for 3 hours at a time so it's easy to do a hike in the morning and another after lunch. We had a great time.
I really enjoyed my stay at Muireann’s! Meatball is an absolute angel. Such a sweet, smart, lovely cat. Easy to care for and a great cuddler! Muireann was a friendly, welcoming host and gave me a run down of everything when I arrived. Helpful and communicative, she has great recommendations for places to go and restaurants to try! Thanks for a great stay, Muireann and Meatball!
Ares was a great companion for exploring the surroundings! Altendorf was a peaceful village, where one's mind turns off almost instantly. Ares is a sweetheart, who loves walks, pets, and treats. He is very well-behaved. He was a lovely company. Simply, it's been an amazing sit! Degus were adorable. In the beginning, they were a little shy, but we got along quickly. Luke was a great host. He was very throughout in explaining everything to me. During the sit, he was great at communicating. I felt welcome at his home. I would highly recommend Luke's for a sit. I would love to sit for Ares and Degus again!
Great farm life experience. Sherryl's animals are well loved and we could tell how much she cared for them. We enjoyed our time on the ranch, gathering fresh eggs, snuggling with Daphne and Daisy and laughing at the antics of Festus, the donkey. We loved our visit to Calaveras State park to see the Giant Sequoias and spent an enjoyable morning in Murphy's. Lovely stay!
