We have only used zeewoi twice, the first sitter and experience was pretty good, but the second, which will be our last, with house sitter Jane, was not. Our pet was, we believe, well cared for, but our house was a different story. Before the sit, we were taken aback by Jane’s request to have her visiting brother stay with her at our house. We told Jane that we did not want any third parties in our house while we were gone. Even after being told this, Jane proceeded to make an additional request to have her brother over to our home. We aren’t sure what part of ‘NO’ she didn’t understand, but we stated again, that no one else is allowed in our home. We hope that she was respectful of our wishes, but we will never know for sure. What we do know for sure is the damage she caused; Jane’s questionable behavior and treatment of some of our belongings; as well as the trash she left behind. The damage Jane caused was to our cooktop. For reasons unclear to us, she used a highly abrasive scrub brush, sponge, cleaner and/or a combination of said items in such a way as to remove the temperature dial numbering and scratched the stainless steel surface of the cooktop. Although the cooktop still works, it doesn’t look nice and it is a guessing game as to what the temperature is for the different gas burners! Jane’s questionable behavior involved a coverlet and pillow shams that were folded nicely on the top shelf of the guest room closet prior to the sit. The questionable behavior wasn’t for her using the items, but rather the way she waded the coverlet and shams up in a ball and shoved them back up on the closet shelf. And if that wasn’t enough, we found one of my wife’s dresses wadded up in the coverlet/sham ball! This makes us question what other inappropriate behavior went on. Other frustrating items to note, Jane helped herself to some of our food/beverages without asking or without us offering the items. And at the end of the sit, Jane left personal belongings and leftover food behind. These may be isolated incidences, but we cannot with a clear conscience recommend Jane.
Margeret & Katharine did a great job taking care of my 3 fur babies (2 cats and a dog). They were totally on top of it - probably took better care of them then I did myself. Communication was easy and my house was clean and tidy when I came home. I'd be happy to have the house/pet sit for me any time.
Is it better to board cats or leave at home?
