We had a fabulous weekend of pet-sitting Louis, Ducky, and Bambo in Lucy’s lovely home. Louis is full of energy and loves a game of fetch, after our walks he would have (what I called) his funny 5 minutes of zoomies in the garden. Always with puppy eyes and a ball in his mouth, Louis became my shadow! Ducky is a precious girl - a real lady who loves to laze in the sun. Ducky is super affectionate and will curl up next to you, and will branch out for the occasional hug. Bambo is a delight, she’s a confident ball of energy. You only have to look at her and she’s away purring. When she’s not playing with Ducky’s tail, she can be found bouncing around in the garden, running after the ball with Louis. And to our delight - Bambo sometimes crept up for a snuggle on the bed! As for the older cats, they come and go as they please. One is slightly more timid than the other, but we managed to introduce ourselves and stroke Sassy (I think?) Lucy was welcoming and informative, and her communication was excellent before arriving and during a small issue with the door. The house was beautifully decorated and clean, and Lucy was kind enough to leave the basics in the fridge! I particularly enjoyed being outside in the garden (of course, accompanied by the trio) which was bursting with life, colour, and character. There are a few public footpaths which we discovered but it might be helpful to provide a few suggested routes as some paths lead to dead-ends. All in all, this was a thoroughly enjoyable sit and we’d happily return again!
We had a fabulous 8 days with Ruby and Marbles in a gorgeous, spacious house in Plymton. We met Margaret and Clive the week before as we were local, to introduce the dogs and they were absolutely fine together, so we had absolutely no issues when it came to the sit. Margaret and Clive are lovely, lovely people, kind, helpful and thoughtful. Marbles is a gorgeous cat, accepted us as her roommates/feeders for the week without question, didn't even blink at Jabba. We all still miss Ruby! She is so playful and loving, the perfect combination. She has amazing energy and stamina and was great off the lead on long walks (take a ball with you and she will love you forever). We really hope to have the opportunity to return, the area was great, lots going on, the house was clean and roomy and well suited for the kids, the garden was out of a magazine - stunning, the hosts as mentioned were brilliant.. but we will mostly return to see Ruby!!
It was a pleasure to stay the weekend with Teddy and Mika. They were very affectionate and easy going dogs. They enjoyed their walks, were good on or off lead, and in the evening loved cuddling on the sofa. Anne was an excellent host providing a thorough list of information and instructions about the house and the dogs' routine. She also left us to use what we wanted from the fridge and larder which was very kind. I would be happy to sit for Anne again and would recommend a house sit to any future sitters.
Amazing experience! Kristi and her human and pet family are wonderful! I loved their furry ones and will miss them truly! Fenno is always up for a walk and has the sweetest disposition. He is so happy and easy going. He loves being brushed and smiling! Tobias and Pippin are curious, sweet and friendly cat brothers who wanted to hang out in my company and even slept on the bed! Not all cats are so inviting with a new person but they were! Their home is lovely, super comfortable, in a great location and easy to enjoy! I walked all over Gràcia/Putxet and Fenno was a fun tour guide! Also the Metro and buses are incredibly close and easy to use. Kristi was amazing with fast, clear communication with any question or need I had. In less than a heartbeat I would happily sit here again!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Augusta's place for five days. All the necessary instructions for caring for the various animals in her menagerie were clear. We were given a comprehensive 'walk through' of arrangements for the outside animals and taken around the grounds to get a feel for the dog walking opportunities. The dogs were a delightful bunch of characters and very obedient. The other animals were well-cared-for and well-housed and gave us no trouble at all. The house was lovely and easy to manage. It was a great bonus to be left with a delicious chicken pie for our first evening meal. All in all, staying at Augusta's place was a delight and we would be very happy to go back any time.
This was a cool sit. Not for the faint of heart, but we loved it. The pets: Macha and Reza are awesome companions. Reza is kinda shy at first, but she warmed up to us after about 3 days. Macha is the top dog and makes sure everyone knows it! She's gutsy and will go after small critters. Reza does the cutest little happy dance right before meal times. It was a heatwave and monsoon season while we were there, which meant they lounged inside a lot but they weren't disruptive. We hope we can see them again sometime. The human: Julia was a very thoughtful host, clever conversationalist, and we really enjoyed her company. We came the day before she left and had a lovely meal she prepared and chatted. It's obvious how much she loves her dogs; it felt like I was visiting a close relative. She gave us a detailed run-through of the neighborhood, pet-care, plant care, and emergency protocols. She responded right away to any questions we had. We stayed a day after she came back (she brought us a sweet gift from her travels!) and also ate and socialized together again. She's a gem <3 The house: WOW! There are so many wonderful items from a wide array of cultures. Julia is very well-traveled, and has decorated her house as such. There's also a lot of Southwestern flare with pottery and the designs on the water cisterns. It was a real treat to look around her space. Her home is located in the desert, but is only about a 10-15 minute drive away from town. During our stay, we visited Saguaro National Park (also only about 10 minutes away) the Tucson Desert Museum, and poked around old town Tucson. We were working remotely during this sit, which the house was well set up for. Even though it's in a rural setting, we had reliable wifi and uninterrupted service for all our many video calls. We'd happily return, this was a great mix of getting away from it all while still being within a short driving distance of lots of fun things; Julia gave us lots of recommendations and I wish we'd had enough time to do them all!
