This was Ali & Taylor's 3rd stay with Phaedra, my dear blind (and partly deaf and newly arthritic) cat. As before, all went smoothly. I was sent daily updates & photos of a happy, relaxed kitty and the house was left in very clean & tidy shape. Ali is proactive to ask questions ahead of time or as they come up, but thanks to her being here on previous stays, it just gets easier to leave and return home and to feel assured that Phaedra's well-being, safety and happiness are a priority.
Everything about this stay was lovely! Paolo was such a sweet cat to have around. He kept to himself as he roamed the garden but was very affectionate in the morning and at night. The home was comfy and had everything you’d need to feel at home. Dasha and her family were quite friendly and accommodating. Overall, I’d definitely recommend and I’d love to come back!
It was great meeting Nik and her family and staying at their beautiful cosy cottage with their gorgeous pets. As there were five dogs (four of theirs and one mine) and I was the only human, I found it easier to load them in the car and take to the nearby river bank, probably 10 minute walk, 2-3 minutes by car, where you can let them off. It is very easy to lose track of time once there as you can just walk on and on – very calm and relaxing. As it was January and a wet winter, wellies are a must and the dogs get mucky, so it is worth taking couple of dog towels with you for the car. This was my first time looking after cavaliers and I was surprised how easy they were to pick up and down from the car, clean etc. You can also fit all three to cuddle with on your lap. Bundles of character, very charming. Panda is a young collie, very alert and smart and will pick up on your energy, so important to establish yourself quickly. He loves praise and attention so responds well to treats and affection so he very quickly picked up what works and what gets him ignored. Easy to love and would make a brilliant working dog, so clever. Watch your food on the worktops and table as he will try and reach for it - I nearly lost my dinner. He is still learning his place in the pack and Nik has a range of strategies that they showed me to use to keep him in line. Rabbits and poultry were very easy to feed and look in on. I felt most welcome and comfortable within seconds of arriving there as I was taken around to meet the poultry and rabbits, Nik talked me through and showed me everything. It felt like visiting friends even though we just met, and Prince felt right at home too, claiming some of Panda's toys and a cushy spot for himself. I was only there for a short stay but felt very settled very quickly. Beautiful home oozing with positivity and a great location in the countryside. Would love to meet them again, totally recommend the housesit :)
Tracey and the three dogs were all lovely. So was the cottage. One minute walk to the marina and with lovely coastal walks in each direction, it is beautifully located. Pearl made me laugh so much when she buried herself under my jumper as I wore it.
We had a great sit at Marla's! Starting with her letting us arrive a few hours earlier, even if she wasn't at home, so we could rest from the trip and leave our bags there, which was great. We chatted into the evening and she even offered us drinks and tips on destinations from her many trips. The apartment is great and super well located, in 10 minutes of walking + 20 minutes by subway you are in the center of Singapore, and it is also very close to other tourist places like the Orchard and Little India/Arab Quarter. We love the peace that is the apartment day and night. Well, the cats also contributed to having an amazing experience here. Raksha is laid back and loves a cuddle, not to mention the fact that she was always at the window waiting for us when we left the house. She got a little excited overnight a few days but nothing major. What about Mowgli? We were completely in love with Mowgli. An amazing cat, beautiful, super calm, fluffy, loves to be cuddled and was always close to us in bed (or under it haha). The funniest thing is that Mowgli knows more or less the times to eat and he was already waiting by the food machine or started talking to us asking for food. In short, a great experience and we cannot forget to thank Marla again for letting us stay an extra night, even after she returned, which has been great for us to be better organized. We will miss the kittens! Thanks
Excellent communication before and during my stay. Oscar became my good buddy and I looked forward to his guided tours. Dorothee provided excellent guidance in writing, with a video and in person so the details were very clear before they left. If I had any questions, I received timely responses. The location is convenient to some great hiking/biking trails. The house was very. comfortable and well supplied.
Loved housesitting for Marcee!
