My 1 year old Shichon puppy has boarded at Home Pet Services Nassau several times this past year. The care she receives is excellent, extraordinary, wonderful! I can’t say enough about the care she receives there. It is a home environment in which the dog caregivers shower the dogs with attention and love. I never worry for a moment about my beautiful dog when she is there. When I drop her off she is excited and joyful to go into the home. It is amazing! We were in a real jam. Our arrangements for our five month old bernedoodle fell through before a one week vacation. Not only were Zach and Dana gracious enough to help us and our dog Wilco, they cared for him as if he was their own dog. We received daily updates, photos and videos. Wilco was happy and safe and we were able to enjoy our vacation. Do not hesitate to hire Zach and Dana should the need arise. We will always turn to them first when we need a safe, reliable and comfortable home in which to board our dog. This family is reliable loving and kind.

I went on vacation and this was the first time I had to leave my pup Zoe with someone I did not know very well. I set up a meet and greet with Heather and it went very well. Heather was absolutely fantastic with my Zoe girl!! She took care of Zoe like she was her own. Zoe got a lot of attention, play time and was taken on walks too. Heather made me feel very comfortable and sent me info, pictures and videos every day on Zoe while I was away. I felt so relieved! 😌 Zoe needs assistance with stairs and Heather was very accommodating - she carried Zoe up and down the steps to her huge back yard and she gated her inside staircase too. Zoe had a blast on her vacation with Heather and got along well with her dog Herbie - what a cutie pie he is! I highly recommend Heather and I cannot thank her enough for making my vacation even more enjoyable knowing my pup was in good hands!!

When you leave your puppy and go to pick him up and you get that look like “wait I’m having too much fun” you know that you’ve made the right choice. The Davidson’s who own this location treated our puppy as if he was theirs. Our dog is only 7 months old and this was his first “sleep over.” A welcome relief to know we now have a family run business to trust when we need a place to care for our 4 legged child. Highly recommend you give these folks a chance to earn your trust.

Our pup Lenox has the best time with IHPS!!! All summer long, we were able to drop him there and enjoy the day at the beach. They constantly sent pics and videos. It was evident that he loved his time there. It’s so nice to know that he was being treated like family. I would not hesitate to recommend them to all dog owners!

Heather and her staff have been taking care of my lab in Manhasset for 5 years. I trust them 100% with my dog and my home. We have been through a lot together! Dana and her family take amazing care of our puppy Milo every day. He was lucky enough to stay there for several days when we went to visit our son at college and Milo had the best time! Tamara Meyer and her team at Shape Up Your Pup cannot be beat. The level of care and attention they give to dogs and owners is professional, thoughtful, and goes above and beyond any dog walking or training service we've used in NYC. My dog has hiked with them for the last 3 years, and we have referred many of our friends to hike as well. My dog has learned better off-leash manners and commands, and I know I have the trainers at Shape Up Your Pup to thank for it. He has also made countless friends and stayed fit in the process. Don't worry about your dog getting dirty - the Shape Up Your Pup team does a tremendous job washing off the dirt from hikes before delivering the dogs back home. Finally, I'll say I have the outmost trust in Tamara and her crew that my dog is safe at all times on his hikes. I cannot recommend them enough.

Our hound still has energy to burn after running and playing for 1-2 hours during Central Park's off-leash hours each morning, so we were thrilled to discover Shape Up Your Pup. Tamara and her team clearly love dogs, and know how to train them and keep them safe. After just a few months of being picked up by Lindsey for Wednesday hikes, Rocky now knows when it's Wednesday and could not be more excited to see Lindsey for his weekly adventure. After hiking with these amazing dog trainers, he returns happy, tired, and better behaved.

I've lived in the city for 6.5 years and never found someone I trust to take good care of my chocolate lab, Bizzy. Fast forward to randomly meeting Tamara, energetically greeting dogs to take on a hike, and my life immediately changed for the better. My dog actually wanted to jump into this 'stranger's' car herself. I found the person I could trust. My biggest concern has always been my dog's safety. There is truly no detail spared when it comes to the safety of these dogs. Tamara starts with a meet and greet in order to assess the dog's response to recall as well as their fitness level. Once they're approved and start hiking they are secured into the car while traveling to and from the hike. GPS tracking devices are provided for their collars. And there is additional staff depending on the amount of dogs per walk. These dogs have an absolute BLAST. They come home happy, tired, and CLEAN! Tamara does a thorough tick check on each dog as well. She's comprehensive in her communication and makes herself available for any questions or concerns. The best part? She does it all because she genuinely cares about these animals. Tamara brought me to tears the first time I met her; I knew I had found someone who loves dogs to her core and would do anything to keep Bizzy safe while also allowing her to have FUN! We love our Shape Up Your Pup family so much!

They care deeply about the dogs they work with, customizing their approach and providing recommendations to us to promote our puppy’s growth and wellbeing. Tamara and her team take a considerate approach to the dogs they bring on their hiking program, including through an initial meet and greet to get a sense of your pup’s personality, play style, and recall, and when actually coordinating the hikes. The hikes themselves are not only a great way for our pup to get some much needed running around time, but also a training opportunity. Tamara and team have gone out of their way to pair our pup with dogs with a various mix of temperaments that will help her learn and grow. Tamara and Lindsey have helped us to better understand and communicate with our puppy, which no doubt will help her grow into a better behaved adult dog. And, perhaps most importantly, our puppy loves this crew, the other dogs, and the hikes. She comes home exhausted from running around like a dognado, and we get to enjoy the pictures and videos afterward. I haven’t hesitated to recommend SUYP to others in the NYC area with dogs that should join the pack.

Shape Up Your Pup is an absolutely Gold Star service provider. Tamara and her crew are extremely prepared and professional. They have a lot of experience with dogs: they know how to train them, how to behave with them, how to make them social with other dogs and people and, most importantly, they truly love them! They always plan all the details well in advance of each hike to ensure that the pups stay well, safe and healthy, both during transportation and during the walk in the woods. Tamara and her crew are trained to react to any type of emergency for the best of the pups. They also make use of any available technology like gps trackers, anti-tick methodologies, apps to check the weather in advance exactly in the area where they are heading, information tools about the general conditions of the places they are going to (including exceptional presence of insects that may bother the doggies) etc. In addition they use apps to make dogs’ owners locate their presence and make estimates about pick up and drop times. Last but not least, Tamara regularly sends beautiful pictures of the dogs hikes as well as tremendous videos! By direct experience, we can tell that doggies health and shape improves thanks to Tamara’s hikes. Tamara and her crew definitely show a real passion about dogs and have the required professional expertise. And let us mention this detail: “Tamara” became a special word in our family… whenever we mention that word, we catch the immediate attention of our two doggies: they start looking around for her and wagging their tails! Same when we go downstairs on the street: the first thing they do is looking for Tamara’s car! And as soon as they see the car they immediately hop into the SUV equipped trunk!!! We had other experiences in the field but nothing compares to Shape Up Your Pup.

There's no one we trust more with our little furball than Tamara. Not only is she the MOST awesome trainer but she's also the most awesome person there is. We've been hiking Sputnik weekly with Shape Up Your Pup for 3+ years, and are constantly blown away by the team's attention to care and detail. They look after all the pups like their own, they care about their wellbeing and put the safety and security of the dogs before everything else. We're lucky to have found Tamara and her team! And luckier that our city pooch gets his share of swims and romps in the wild :)

If I could give 10 stars, I would! Tamara and her group are so amazing with my pup, Boba. Communication regarding the weekly schedules and pickups are top notch. Tamara also puts so much thought into grouping dogs with compatible temperaments together - you can tell she truly cares about each and every dog. She's also been so helpful and supportive with my pup's reactivity and really helped him gain more confidence. She also suggested agility to help with his confidence and he absolutely LOVES it. Don't even think twice about signing your pup up for Shape Up Your Pup. I can't stop telling every dog parent I meet about them!

Have been sending our dog on weekly hikes w Tamara and crew for almost two years now. The pup is exhausted every time we come home and can tell from the countless videos and pictures she sends that he has an absolute blast out there every week!!! The hikes also help immensely with off leash training and whenever we’re hiking or outdoors, we never have to worry about him wandering off or not listening when called. The whole team treats all the dogs as if they’re their own and take a ton of pride in the quality of their hikes and training.
