Julie
Julie & Scooby were awesome! They took me all around the house and gave me a tour of the neighborhood and amenities. Scooby was precious and such a little ball of energy! We took many walks and had a joy of a time. Julie and her husband were super hospitable and the home was absolutely beautiful. Absolutely wonderful time in Seabrook!

We had a wonderful time sitting for Kevin and Jenny. We got to spend some time with them before they left the next day. They are super easy to communicate with and will answers any questions you may have. The are truly a fun and generous couple ! They left a great guide, which was very detailed and helpful. Their home is absolutely amazing. It’s beautiful and comfortable with everything you would need. The location is amazing, and within walking distance of tons of shopping, restaurants , museums etc. Max and Minnie were very easy to care for. Max is a gentle old man, but he’s not a fan of any other dogs besides Minnie. He pretty much keeps to himself throughout the day , but comes around every now and then for some hugs and scratches. Minnie is a sweetie and was our snuggle bug. If we were sitting down , she would be right there with us. Max and Minnie are so much fun and we all enjoyed our long walks. We will truly miss them. This is a 10 star sit, so if you get a chance don’t hesitate. We absolutely hope to return in the future.

Julieanne and Christophe couldn't be more easy-going. It was a pleasure to share a delicious dinner and some interesting conversations with them and their daughters.
The pets are all very lovable, each one with his own character. Mia, very independent, looks for some cuddles when she comes back home. Moon prefers you respect her until she decides to approach you; then she loves cuddles. O'Malley and Bonnie would always be receiving cuddles and they love human contact. It's a gift to see Bruce and Boss happines explosions when you take them for a walk.
The house is nice and comfortable, located in a quiet area and close to interesting places to visit.
I higly recomment this housesit.

Mr Purrfect and Jacko graciously accepted me into their home. They were very respectful, generally keeping to their perches in their mistress’s bedroom but responding happily to some stroking. Although they have the run of the garden, they tended to stay indoors most of the time. My hostess had timed feeders which I could use for the mid-day meal so I was able to spend the day out exploring. The house is in a quiet location within easy walking distance of the town centre and there is a Sainsbury’s nearby. Altogether a pleasurable sit!

This experience was an excellent lesson in how unprofessional, unpredictable and contradictory people can be.

When the sit was agreed to it was known I had an in-person Caregiver job, that human lives depended on, and could need shifts covered. Despite being in contact with (only) the wife the entire time since the interview and while at the residence, I was woke suddenly early Sunday morning, by a (first) text from the husband, informing me I was replaced and to vacate the house immediately. No prior conversation or warning, and no willingness to communicate about the circumstances, only determined anxiety.

I was gone one long day because a patient incident kept me, and the second day was there during a break, driven by a colleague on the way to lunch. I had been walking the dogs threw only the back door, away from the busy street, to work safer training around the extreme lack of discipline and door aggression these large dogs had. Dogs that were also not the age in the listing, but years older, with intense dominant behavior over the humans in their presence.

After reflection on statements the wife had made regarding the husband’s already triggered nervousness, the fact that they had never had someone sit as long as mine was meant to be, the anxiety level of every animal in the house and the overwhelming number of pages written (six, front and back, by the husband) for me to follow regarding dogs only (no regard for the cats) brought better understanding to why this concluded in an unfortunate and unnecessary manner.

As a result of this experience, I will no longer accept sits without meeting the humans face-to-face, at the least on video call, and having agreements stated in more detailed writing.

THis was a nice sit for lovely people. The communication with Louise was always quick and reliable; one of the best experiences I have had dealing with a HO in 78 sits. The Welcome Guide gave me all the information I needed. Adam picked me up at Corby train station and that was appreciated as I found out later that buses to and from the station are not that frequent and a 10 minute walk up to the town to get a bus to the house with a bag would have been a struggle. Having said that, there is a regular bus from the town centre that drops you at Morrisons and the house is very close from there and so supermarket shopping is very easy. For a sitter without a car and not wanting to use the bus, a taxi to the train costs about £6.
Louise had arranged back-up from next door neighbours Janet and Andrew and they were really helpful as I had to go down to London on a couple of occassions. Janet even made me a apple pie! Louise and Andy have two lovely dogs Merlin a rough-coated Collie and Poppy a Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) puppy. The dogs are very friendly and I really enjoyed being with them. There are some nice walks from the door down across fields and around a country estate and both dogs walk well on the lead. As with most dogs, they need long walks with the chance to sniff and explore and responded well to walks with variety and not to a fixed pattern. Andy left me with an OS map and we tried most of the walks within a 6 miles radius. The dogs settle well after a decent walk and would sleep at my feet for ages on our return. For a sitter without a car you would start repeating the walks after about a week but with a car (and looking at the map) there are interesting walks further afield around Kettering and Bedford so a longer sit for somebody with a car would be enjoyable. The dogs shed alot of hair so you need to brush them frequently especially after walks where they tend to pick up burrs etc, and they both love the attention. I also found that little games in the garden hiding treats for them to find, really helped to burn off energy and reduce barking. At night both dogs settled quite quickly and if they have had a decent walk the day before they do not stirr before about 7.30-8am. Thanks for inviting me folks and give those lovely dogs a cuddle from me.
