Mike and Harriet were extremely welcoming and we found that with the comprehensive information that they left for us it was easy for us to settle into the routines of their home, the Estate and of course, Speed! After having had a really bad start in life Speed has grown into a beautiful, healthy, lively dog with eyes that stare into your soul and definitely steal your heart. We really do miss having her wonderful spirit around us!! Speed is very easy to take care of and is happy and content as long as she gets her requisite walks, as is generally the case with all dogs! We were able to walk her in the citrus orchards or on the neighbouring farm which does not have predators, and also in the dog park at Bosveld Village. She is very responsive, well socialised and travels well to dog friendly restaurants etc. Leadwood Big Game Estate is a magnificent place to be and is truly food for the soul. We did not find the need to go off to other game reserves as we really enjoyed just being home while we worked, and seeing the game that by to the drinking hole situated just the other side of the pool. We saw all the usual suspects, Impala, Nyala, Zebra, Giraffe, Duiker, Monkeys and Warthog, and even had an early morning sighting of a beautiful Caracal! The Birdlife was also fantastic, and in the Summer months would be even better. At night the sounds of the lions was such a treat, but reminded us to be very aware when walking about outside or relaxing on the deck!! Mike and Harriet's home was so comfortable to be in with everything one could need for a great stay. We did not get to try the wood burner fireplace as the weather was really mild, but hopefully we will get to do that another time! We really loved our few weeks there and look forward to going back again in the future! Thank you Mike and Harriet for entrusting your home and very special dog to our care!
