Dog Sitters in Sand City, CA

I've been a loyal customer of Dawg Gone It Kennel in Monterey for the past three years, regularly boarding our Labrador, Gracie, there when we travel. Until now, we've always had positive experiences, and Gracie has come back happy. However, this past Wednesday, I left her there for just one night due to an out-of-town event, and the situation was alarming upon her return. When we picked her up, Gracie could hardly walk. Her right thigh seemed uninjured, yet she struggled to use it. She couldn't stand on her own, even to get out of the truck at home, so my husband had to help her up the stairs. Disturbingly, Gracie has eaten only twice since we brought her back on Thursday. We've reached out to Dawg Gone It to find out what happened, but no one seems to have any answers. We requested a review of the surveillance footage and were assured it would happen, but so far, nothing has been done. Despite promises that the manager would call us, she hasn't. When we called again on Friday, we were told that the owner was dealing with personal issues and couldn't review the video. Now it's Saturday, three days since Gracie came home, and neither a manager nor the owner has reached out or explained what occurred. Although her leg is improving slightly, she still refuses to eat. I'm extremely disappointed and disheartened that the staff at Dawg Gone It is prioritizing personal matters over addressing the concerns of their customers, especially when a beloved pet was returned in such distress. Sadly, we will not be using their services again

We've had our dogs there multiple times, for multiple nights stay. Always happy to walk in. Nobody ever comes home acting traumatized. You can walk in there and ask to be shown the place at random. I've done this. The staff that work there are nice. I've never had any issues. A++

Thank you for taking such good care of Augustus. I really appreciated the peace of mind I got knowing how well cared for he was. I especially appreciated the playtime with the other dogs, your working his medication in with his food, the attentive staff, and lastly, the wonderful grooming before pick up. This is our go to home away from home for our pups. While we hate to leave them, we always know they will be safe and well cared for here. It gets expensive if you load up walks, play time and cuddles. Have a plan when going in or you will add everything at check in and get surprised when you pay. Be sure to book your reservation a free weeks ahead of time in the summer.

Casey has been coming here when we come to Pebble Beach to volunteer. Stephanie does great work every visit! 2025 will be our 3rd year!

Our Aussie, Gus, seemed to have enjoyed his stay at Dawg Gone It more than our previous arrangements via Rover. He stayed for a day and a half. I think it was $35-40 for one night and then an additional $10 per hour of group play time. Although I wish these types of services we're included in the stay, they did provide a long list of a variety of services at different price points and packages. The staff also shared a couple of stories about Gus' stay when we came in to pick him up, which was nice and personal.

I found myself in a situation where I had to board my service dog over night. this was not something I was comfortable doing and was very stressed. Dawg Gone It was absolutely wonderful. they allowed me to tour their facility even tho it was a last minute need and they where closing. it was clean and very nice by the time I left I felt comfortable leaving such an important dog in their care. They where respectful and obeyed my request that her Fi tracking collar be left on at all times. I feel confident knowing that if I ever travel in that area again and run into the need to board Snow that she will be safe and well cared for.

My doggie Lucy has always been treated with kindness and gentleness. I would never leave her anywhere else! Stephanie and Rob are doing a great job! Every one of their workers are A+ wonderful!

Wish I could give zero stars. Said my dog wasn’t interested in socializing with other dogs and kept my medium sized dog in a small kennel the entire week. Pretty suspicious that there are 3 reviews written but 101 total “reviews”. Just wanted to give others better expectation on what you are getting for the price. Will not use again.

I have boarded my two beagles here several times over the years. I took a tour of the place before I left them for the first time and was impressed by the overall cleanliness, security and bright and happy atmosphere of this facility. I feel 100% confident that my dogs are safe when they are staying at Doggone It in Monterey. The staff is polite and friendly, follow my feeding instructions carefully (one of my dogs was older and had some special needs) and my dogs are so happy when I pick them up. I highly recommend Doggone It to anyone looking for a great place for their dogs to stay for daycare or overnight boarding.

I left my puppy Bruno for one week, I missed him so much. When I picked him up, he was as if I never left. I am so happy he can stay here for daycare and boarding, he loves it. Thank you wonderful staff!❤️❤️🐶🐶 …

We took our 'inherited' older blind/deaf dog there after his previous groomer had passed. We were hesitant as he is special needs and tends to be a shy boy. They were absolutely fantastic starting from the booking down to the groom. They updated me throughout the day on how he was doing, and kept me reassured the whole time. When it was time to pick up Joe, he was like a brand new pup! He was such a handsome boy and he was so excited to be feeling so fresh and clean. We will definitely be taking our old boy there again. Staff was amazing! Thank you!

We’ve brought our dogs here for years. Around 4 years ago Home Away From Home suffered a major fire in the building, and since, they have rebuilt and come such a long way. Our Aussie Shepherd Haku loves it here, and the staff know and love him. He always comes back to us clean and happy with a fresh grooming when we pick him up. It’s just a very personal experience with Home Away From Home. Joel obviously loves dogs, and has made his passion his career. Five stars from a loyal customer.

I am absolutely so disappointed that I brought my beautiful little rabbit Bambi to this establishment.The front desk was very rude and told me that our rabbit was stressed out and started biting her fur because we were late picking her up. She has never done that ever. When they brought her out she was missing a chunk of hair and stress shedding her hair was falling out please see picture. The front desk person also charged my card without asking. She was also very unprofessional saying that she will sue me because we told her that we were going to give them a bad review. Absolutely a horrible person. I can’t tell you how distressing this experience was.

After adopting my dog from the SPCA I was hesitant to take my pup to any groomer. After doing some research and asking friends/family I decided to make an appointment and bring him in. Joi was helpful with setting up an appointment and all the staff including the groomer were fantastic. The whole experience was easy and hassle free, not to mention the groomer did a great job. I am so glad I found this place and will continue to bring him in!

Nothing but good things to say! We have been taking our dogs here for about a year now, based on a neighbor’s recommendation and are very pleased with each visit! HAFH’s boarding, daycare, and grooming are great services. Our dogs come home well socialized and tired from play in daycare. The boarding is wonderful when we can’t take them with us, and they even have a big van that they can come pick up your pets if needed! The onsite grooming is also great, especially when combined at the end of a boarding or daycare. The dogs come back very well cared for! The staff have always been polite and professional, in person and on the phone, and are great people who care about the pets they’re watching. Couldn’t recommend them more!

Wonderful staff, I felt very comfortable my baby here for the weekend. They assured me that she would be well taken care of, and she was. They were quick to respond when I asked how she was doing, and even sent me videos of her playing outside. I was nervous to take her because sometimes my Doberman gets snappy with other dogs. But they kept her alone, and still let her outside to play. I didn’t have to worry about a thing the whole time she was here and I thank you for that.

HAFH has been so amazing with my pup, Opal! Opal is a rescue and tends to be shy/skiddish in new places, with new people, and with new pups. But the HAFH staff have been SO helpful, welcoming, and supportive of Opal! She has been so taken care of and loved there. I know she’s safe and having fun during daycare and boarding stays! Truly a wonderful facility with amazing staff! Opal & I will miss you!!

Absolutely fantastic customer service, and even better service for my dog. I use their services often for when I am out of town or need a daycare, and they are fantastic every single time. They really show they care about the animals they work with and will even take time to give my dog a quick bath if she's played too much throughout the day! My dog also always comes home happy and ready for a looong nap after playing all day. Highly recommend their services for any of your pets needs.

Absolutely the best dog sitting experience I have ever had. I truly wish more places were as easy and as quality as Signature Paw Spa. We were very lucky for a last minute puppy sitters Josh and Sheadon that took great care of our little girl. They asked all important questions and were very professional. I can tell our little one was well cared for. I also really love that they give you the option for the pet to be dropped off to you! Thanks so much guys!

So my friends and I rarely get days off together. When we did we decided to go to Monterey. We brought our 2 dogs and unfortunately we cant bring them to Aquarium. Last minute I called Signature Paw Spa and luckily they have availability. I dropped my dogs just 15-20 mins after I called them and we all were able to go to the aquarium. They are really nice people and had kept me updated about my babies from time to time and My babies seemed to have enjoyed their time at Tonya's. I definitely recommend them

It was my first time leaving my 5 month old puppy with a pet sitter, and Signature Pet Spa/Tonya was awesome to put both me and my pup at ease. Tonya managed to work me in even though I called the day before I needed a pet sitter. She sent updates and pictures of my puppy enjoying her day, and my pup came back to me happy and well exercised when I picked her up. I definitely will be using Signature Pet Spa again!

Hands down the best dog experience!!!! I’ve used many dog services while traveling and I have to say ginger loved this place the moment she arrived. The owner came out to greet her and I when we arrived, which is a wonderful added bonus compared to some other place I have been to. The property offers a big grassy area for her to run and play, I was thrilled to see Tanya bonded perfectly from the moment ginger arrived. The pick up process was smooth and efficient since I was rushing to get back out of town. I would recommend this place to everyone with a beloved dog.

We called to get last minute day care for our dog, Gunner, during the US Open. The owner was so accommodating and made our pup feel right at home. If you are traveling to the area from out of town I would highly recommend this place if you are in need of doggie day care!

Signature Paw Spa is a life saver. My dog sitter canceled last minute on me and I was able to get my dog Charlie in at Signature Paw Spa. They sent me lots of pictures and videos of him playing with all his other little friends. Charlie was in their care for 3 days and he had a fabulous time! Tonya was so nice and accommodating - we asked for overnight boarding on the weekend with no notice and she was able to take our dog no problem. We got a few updates during his stay and felt very confident that he was getting great care in a wonderful setting. We would absolutely go to signature paw spa again!

Signature Paw Spa is the absolute best pet sitting service in the area.. I know my dog is in wonderful company when I leave him with Signature Paw Spa.. I love how the owner will take pictures and send them to me throughout his time with them.. He always looks so happy and like he is hanging such a blast.. i highly recommend SPS. Tonya the owner is VERY VERY organized and was very easy to communicate with. The dog sitting part of her business is at a large lovely home in Carmel. Convenient location for Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur. Tonya coordinated everything and was so nice to be flexible to our travel plans.. Decker was given lots attention and came back to us very happy

Melissa was absolutely amazing with our pup Sage. She was able to take her on such short notice for our wedding. She was very thorough and knew lots about Frenchies which made me feel at ease. It was our first time having Sage be puppy sat and have an overnight stay so I had lots of questions and Melissa was so kind and reassuring with all of them. I just knew Sage would be in good hands and love miss Melissa. She sent me cute pics and videos throughout her stay and was very accommodating with her additional pickups/drop offs for Sage’s part in our wedding. I highly recommend Melissa for over night stays and any other services you’d need for your pups, she’s a kind, sweet, caring, and trustworthy Soul.

I can’t say how much Melissa at Pets by the Sea meant to our family to help watch our dog Deiter. He was a very sweet boy but couldn’t be around other dogs - she made sure to take extra care of him and he acted like we were never gone when we got back from our trip. We know he must have been happy and we couldn’t have been happier. She sent us texts and pictures to show how good he was! We highly recommend Melissa and when we get another dog one day, we will ask her for her services again. Top notch!!

What a great experience!! My husband and I wanted to have a nice dinner for our Anniversary and Pets by the sea took wonderful care of our pug while we did so. I felt relaxed and at ease knowing she was in good hands. We were given an update via photo and text and my Mabel came back to us happy as ever!! I’m so grateful for Pets by the Sea. Pets By The Sea provides a wonderful pet care service with convenient pick up and delivery. Bandit and Raider, our 1 year old West Highland Terriers, are FULL of energy. We were so thankful to find Melissa and Jaden and have used them several times on our trips to Carmel. They are professional, reliable, so friendly ... and they give our boys a GREAT workout! Bandit and Raider are big fans, and so are we!

Melissa was awesome!!! I was coming from out of town and needed a pet sitter while I was at a wedding. When I reached out to her she was very quick to respond and very flexible to my needs. She made me feel super comfortable leaving my fur baby with her. I loved that she sent me updates every few hours. I cannot recommend Melissa enough!!! The experience was flawless!!!

Dropped my pup off for half a day so my family could go to the Aquarium. It was 2 blocks from the Aquarium and reasonable to keep her there for the day. It was raining out, so they washed her paws when I came to pick her up to get the mud off. She seemed in great spirits when she came out! Would recommend for travelers needing to board the dog!

Gus has the best time at the day care! Definitely well use again when we visit Monterey

My husband, checked our dog who Is a cockapoo into “Casa de Amigos Animal Hotel” on October 20th , 2024, in Monterey California. At or around 4:30PM that evening, my husband and myself arrived at the facility to retrieve our dog at which point the hotel staff informed us that our dog had went missing from the facility. The staff had failed to properly secure their facility and supervise our dog as per the agreement. The police was contacted on behalf of my family and matters were taken into our own hands as the facility informed us that they did not have protocol for this type of incident. I was able to track my dog based off information received from a good Samaritan who located my missing dog and had submitted information to the police department. The staff and entire facility failed to show any sort of sympathy towards this situation and didn't seem to care that our dog was missing. We have not yet received a call from the manager or owner of the business regarding this matter. I am extremely unsatisfied with the service we were provided with. The lack of professionalism that was demonstrated in this facility needs to change immediately.

The staff at Casa de Amigos is always courteous and profession. They always remember my dog and are enthusiastic to see her when we walk in. My dog gets so excited when we pull into the parking lot! I love that they send pictures daily when we board her overnight.They have reasonable pricing and are kind enough to offer a military discount.

My little guy absolutely LOVED going to Casa de Amigos! The staff here are wonderful, and treat your dog like family. They always text me photos, which I appreciate. Your pup is in good hands here. I cannot recommend them enough! Also, their grooming services are AMAZING!

Used the daycare while visiting the aquarium. I had emailed earlier in the week with someone there. But they did not have our reservation when we arrived but everything went fine checking our little guy in they still accepted him. Picked him up 7 hours later and he is pooped and happy. Smooth process and the folks there were very nice. Next time we are in Monterey I would come back and recommend.

They are so great and take good care of your pets. We have a 9 month old we've been bringing for daycare for socialization and they've been really great with her and have really made gains with her. Would recommend. We trust them with her when we have to board over night as well.

Leah is AMAZING! I recently hired Leah to drop-in to my house and take care of my pup in the afternoons while I had to travel to the office for a period and I couldn't be more impressed with the care and attention she provided. Not only did she take my dog on a fantastic walks, but she stayed with him until he was completely settled and comfortable. My dog can sometimes be anxious when I'm away but Leah made sure he was at ease before she left. You can really tell she loves animals and genuinely cares for the well-being of the pups she works with. I highly recommend Leah for anyone looking for a responsible and compassionate caretaker!

We came up to Monterey CA for car week. I’ve been so stressed to find a sitter for my fur baby. Actually my husband found Lucinda. He called her and she said I have to interview you first to make sure we are a fit. Long story short , the best thing that ever happened to us. I did really like Lucinda’s personality. She is very caring, she knows her animals, especially dogs. She’s also a trainer, very knowledgeable, kind, friendly, loving to my fur baby Bentley. Anytime I went out of town I took my dog to Lucinda and she took great care of her! We went through a thorough interview process first to make sure my dog Indy was a good fit too. Lucinda is very knowledgeable about dogs and was great about sending pictures/updates whenever Indy stayed for boarding. You can tell lucinda really loves the dogs and I always felt good about leaving my dog in her care. She also has a great backyard that my dog loved!!

Lucinda is such a gift! I wholeheartedly recommend her for any pet sitting needs. She is also a lovely human being and very easy to work with. We had to leave our rescue pup for 4 days and 3 nights for his first overnight ever, and not only did Lucinda take excellent care of him, she provided so much nourishment, socialization, and enrichment for him that he wanted to stay when I picked him up four days later! She put my mind at ease by sending adorable pictures, videos, and updates daily and when requested. I included some of her photos in this review. She is knowledgeable about canine nutrition, training with positive rewards, and loves what she does. She provided a free meet-and-greet, answered all of my questions, and got to know our pet. Her prices are reasonable, and she has been able to accommodate unexpected schedule changes on little notice for us. I can’t say enough about Lucinda. Our dog’s new favorite place is Happy Pets, the perfect name. We will be returning for years to come.

My dog Gertie has stayed at Happy Pets on two occasions. Both times for a week at a time. I received pictures of Gertie and updates on a regular basis. She has fun playing with the other dogs and having the run of the house and yard. Lucinda is definitely a dog person and treats the dogs like her babies. I am so happy I found her. I will be using Happy pets every time I travel.

Lucinda has been lovingly taking care of Quincy for a few years now. He has been taking chemo/immunotherapy for almost a year and I can always leave with confidence knowing he is in good caring hands. How lucky are we to have her in our area!!

I can’t say enough good things about working with Wendy and highly recommend using her services. Wendy is amazing to work with and was very attentive to our high energy pup. We were desperate to find someone to care for our dog while we got married in Monterey and Wendy was so helpful! She was very flexible in scheduling and it was a huge relief to not be worried about our pup during wedding festivities. My pup Cali joined Cypress Coast Canine Care several months ago when our other dog walker moved away. Wendy has been a lifesaver in taking Cali on daily walks and adventures while I'm at work. My dog yanks and pulls and i have been turned down by many walkers but Wendy has been able to teach my dog to walk property and support me with walks whenever i need them! I am so lucky i found her, she is always there for a quick 30 minute walk for the full hour walk whenever my dog needs it and i feel so safe and comfortable with her with my pup! Thank you so much !

Wendy is hands down the best dog nanny we have ever had , she is the only person I trust fully with my fur babies. Wendy is loving, compassionate, punctual and extremely flexible, she always works around our schedule and needs, my pups arrive happy and tired from their adventures. But the true test is when I see my dogs waiting for her by the door each morning and how excited they get when they see her and to me that speaks volumes.

We organized a wedding package with the walker Maurie and we could not be happier with the service we received. Her and Dan were overly communicative about how to organize a wedding package as they had not already established one, and they were so flexible. Maurie was great about keeping our dog near the party, but never in the way. Our dog was so happy to be a part of the day and he really got along so well with Maurie. We are convinced he would have played with her all day. He seemed to be so in love with her when she picked him up and dropped him off. They truly cared about making it a special day for us, as well as keeping our dog in great spirits, and we cannot recommend them enough!!!

My husband Steve and I have been clients of Monterey Pet Care since January 2012. It is an excellent company with quality staff - reliable, trustworthy, and accommodating. Initially, we arranged for daily walks for our two labrador retrievers when I was working full-time and my husband was recovering from hip surgery. But due to our busy lives and the excellent experience we had in the beginning, we have continued with a regular daily walk for our dogs since then. We trust them, and they really ease our load! We are concerned "parents". We center our lives around the dogs, because not only are they wonderful and loving family dogs, they are active, energetic dogs who need a lot of exercise. And because we have had dogs of all ages since January 2012 - young adult dogs, elderly dogs, and puppies - one dog with knee problems, and even one who had chemotherapy, we can attest that the walkers are good with all ages and conditions. We feel fortunate to have found Monterey Pet Care with its very dependable, friendly, and professional walkers. They arrive on time and treat our dogs and everyone they meet with respect. If owners have preferences, they will do their best to follow them - for us, this means they lock the doors when they leave even if we are home.

Monterey Pet Spa is absolutely wonderful! They took care of all 4 of my cats! First, I took my 3 cats in person on 01/05/24 and waited for about 2 1/2 hours since they did the bathing service (shampoo, conditioner, ear cleaning, and nail trimming). I was going to do the ear plunking services as well but the groomer said it wasn’t necessary so they took off the service! Overall, at that time, they did a fantastic job! For my last cat today at 01/09/24 (this was the only available/soonest date they have cause their groomer(s) come in specific dates/times so be sure to ask them about their availability), I had my cat picked up and dropped off with their shuttle services (also ask due to availability). They came at a timely matter (around 10:38am) and the driver was super gentle and kind with my cat during the whole process! During this time, Monterey Pet Spa was really good with replying to me whenever I was checking in on my cat. They replied in less than 5 minutes! They gave me peace of mind that my cat was taken cared of! Overall, the experience was really nice! I recommend them for sure! I’m going to bring all 4 of my cats back in the reoccurring months! I plan to do this every 3-4 months!

I was there to drop off my client's 2 cats after a cross country transport and got there early. The manager was on site, even though very specific dropoff times were listed, she took them in early. I and my client were very appreciative.

The owner is super positive and very professional. We were traveling through and had our two standard poodles in the daycare for just the day, as well as bathed and brushed out. The shot records were carefully checked before our dogs were accepted, and when we came back they were clean and happy.

Please don’t go there. They cut my dogs mail so short that she bled and our entire carpet had to shampooed. Also super unorganized as well with a ton of paperwork and requirements.

this place is great!! they always make room for our pup and he comes back happy, clean, and nice-smelling as ever. truly an amazing place to take your pet for grooming or boarding if you’re in the area! 🤍

Staff was a bit condescending....not exactly a pleasant experience to say the least.

Great grooming place, you drop off your dog and they are fast and efficient.

Love the staff and you can tell they really care about the dogs

Solid service we weren't totally happy with the cuts they got but they did try and fix it.
