Storm was wonderful to look after - super friendly and cuddly, and always keen for a warm lap to sit on. I'll miss his furry face! The house was lovely and spacious, and very comfortable to stay in. I enjoyed walking to the local Westfield for great food and an extensive selection of shops. The bus stop for an express bus to the city was in walking distance, which made it easy enough to get by without a car.
If you like peace and quiet in the countryside then this is a perfect sit for you. Jasmine and Lily are extremely sociable cats and full of love. They will follow you around when you go for a walk around the grounds of the property and love to hang out with you in the living room during the evening. They’re also very easy to look after - they get fed once a day and go out into the forest a lot of the time to play and hunt. They only use their litter tray if there is a storm outside so most of the time this is also not an issue. The house itself and surrounding scenery is absolutely awesome and a great place to work from remotely. The wifi is via a dongle but was sufficient for the regular video calls that we had to make for work. The signal from the office is much better than from the lounge so I did most of my calls from there. The living room has a cosy fireplace and a spectacular view over the grounds of the Quinta and the sprawling forest outside. You can also see the sunset from here which is great. The vegetable garden gives a lot of fresh veggies to look after and enjoy - tomatoes, chard, basil, mint, amazing red chillis, beetroot, lettuce, lemongrass etc. We loved harvesting the various veggies to mix into our nightly meals so this was a bonus. The gym room is also a really cool area for a workout and another nice touch. It’s definitely better if you have a car but not 100% necessary - we didn’t have one and we were able to do most things with taxis and a bit of walking over the course of a 2 month stay. There is a small shop in the village about a 20 min walk away for basic bits and pieces but a taxi is required for a proper grocery shopping trip a little further away. I’d highly recommend this sit for people who want to get away from the hustle and bustle. It’s even nicer in person than the photos which is saying something, and the cats are adorable!
Peggy is a truly wonderful host, welcoming, kind, considerate. I had the pleasure to spend a whole day with her and Leon before my sit started. She showed me around their neighbourhood, including Leon’s favourite walks, explained everything in detail about the house and treated me to delicious lunch and dinner. Her house is even more beautiful than it looks in pictures, it’s located in a very leafy and quiet area, only 30 mins away from Brussels, there are parks, cafes and a cinema theatre in the area, Peggy will share best recommendations with you if you come 😊 finally, Léon, he’s the sweetest and easiest dog I met in my life. Not so much of a long walker, but super playful at home. He will shower you in attention and cuddles from the very moment you meet him. He’s very calm, loves meeting other dogs and almost never barks. The two weeks I spent with him, we were inseparable and I’ll miss him very much! Thank you so much for your hospitality, Peggy, I hope I’ll be back soon!
Even though it was a short stay, Maddy warmed up to us right away and was a joy to be with. She is so smart and makes it easy to understand what she needs and wants! Sam and Laura welcomed us very warmly into their comfortable, clean home and were excellent about communication. We really enjoyed this stay and would love to go back!
I loved my stay in St. Kilda, it is a very beautiful neighborhood and the location of Kym's apartment is very convenient. Gucci is the most lovely and adorable dog! You are going to fall in love with her, she will accompany you day and night and is very obedient. I am very happy to have met Kym and Gucci, it was really a pleasure. I am very grateful to Kym for her kindness and flexibility when agreeing the dates of the sit. I recommend taking care of Gucci ♡ I spend some beautiful days with her!
Looking after Poppy was a joy. We got a great welcome from Dave and Lefki. They are really a relaxed couple and very easy to get on with. Everything we needed to know was provided. A We arrived a day before Dave and Lefki went away, and that allowed Lefki to take us on some of Poppy’s favourite walks and show us around. Miramar is a stunning peninsula, but be warned, there are some really steep hills, and your thigh and calf muscles will get well exercised. That being said, we are 70 and managed with out to much difficulty. Poppy is one of the most expressive dogs we have looked after – a real character. She has a wonderful nature and behaves well off the lead. If you want to explore Wellington, there is a regular bus service across the road from the house. Coming from Scotland, we are not going to be in the Wellington area very often. But we would not hesitate to look after Poppy again if the situation presented itself. All in all, a really enjoyable sit, looking after a super dog for lovely people.
