I had a great experience on this sit in the Andalusian countryside. Nick’s house is surrounded by olive trees - well, to be honest, so is all pretty much all the land for miles around! Olive harvest was in full swing when I was there which was interesting to see. From the house you can just walk out through the trees - Molí has a tracker on her collar so she can run free if you’re happy with that - mostly I had her on an extender lead. Luckily for me, this time Nick was able to lend me a car (he can’t always so check if you don’t have your own as you do need one) so I could explore further afield - I’d particularly recommend checking out Torcal de Antequera which is a stunning karst landscape about an hour away. He also gave me tips for walks by the reservoir, and toured me around the local area before he left so I knew where everything was. We had really good communication before and during the sit - if I had any questions he always got back to me quickly which was great. 

Molí is a sweetheart - pretty calm considering she’s still a young dog, but she loves to walk and run, to jump in the reservoir, and to play catch or tug with her toys on the terrace. Mario would turn up for mealtimes but also liked to bask in the sunshine on the chairs on the terrace. She’d (yes, she’s a girl, despite the name!) also join me and Molí on our final walk before bed when she’d tease Moli by running past her to get her to chase then escape up a tree - so funny to watch! Rafa was more shy but became friendlier as time went on. Goldie was very easy - just needed feeding in the mornings. 

At this time of year with the sun out it was warm enough to relax on the terrace in the daytime, but as soon as the sun went down or on the odd cloudy day the temperature would really plummet as you’re up quite high in the hills. There’s a nice big woodburning stove in the kitchen which also has a sofa area so you basically need to get that fire going and stay cosy in there. There’s a/c for the summer heat and in the winter those can be used as heaters so I’d put the one in my bedroom on for a bit before I went to bed so it warmed up. If you’re happy to put some layers on and get a fire going then you’ll be totally fine - but if you’re someone who thinks you should be able to walk around in a t-shirt indoors in the winter this probably isn’t the sit for you - try the summer instead! Nick is very kind and generous and in any season will want to make sure you’re comfortable in his house. 

I’m really glad I got this opportunity to travel to this area, to meet Nick and his lovely pets, and would absolutely recommend this sit to others looking for a peaceful rural getaway.
