I had the pleasure of meeting Niki and fam before they went on their trip, and they couldn't be nicer folks. KitKat is charming and such a cutie, too! I definitely enjoyed her company. They have a beautiful home with great amenities, not to mention an excellent Portland location. I highly recommend!
Tom greeted us with Kiki the evening before he and Alice departed and gave us a tour of the house. Alice joined us later and we had chatted over a bowl of soup before they readied themselves for an early departure the next morning. We enjoyed our walks with Kiki in the countryside accessed straight from the property, although she appeared to have no recall and quite often disappeared, sometimes chasing deer. As this obviously needed to be avoided, especially at a time of year when they could well be pregnant, we resorted to walking her on an extended lead and she was fine with this. She does wear a tracker. Alice and Tom's home is very comfortable and the original part of the cottage which houses the snug is easily kept warm with a very effective log burner where we enjoyed cosy evenings watching TV with Kiki. It is easy to while away the daylight hours in the lovely light and warm kitchen/dining/living space with beautiful countryside views. Our ensuite bedroom was very comfortable and afforded a peaceful night's sleep with just the odd owl disturbing the silence. There was no information in the welcome guide with regard to shops but we did check this out for ourselves prior to our visit and fortunately had purchased almost everything we needed on the way. All in all a lovely and peaceful countryside sit.
This was my second time using TrustedHousesitters, and I can't imagine a better experience! First off, Chilli the cat is absolutely adorable and will capture your heart from day one. She's incredibly affectionate, friendly, and easy to care for. I already miss her so much! Communication with Renato, the host, was fantastic. He made it super easy and always responded quickly to my questions. You can definitely expect prompt, friendly and clear communication from him. The apartment is amazing—super comfortable and located in a great neighborhood with easy transport connections to the city center and business district. And, of course, the view of the river is simply stunning. The place is cozy and convenient, making it a delightful stay. Overall, I can't recommend this experience enough!
We were received very warmly when we arrived in Ringmer by Belinda, as if we had been coming there for years. She explained everything clearly how everything worked and the dogs are really sweethearts and have stolen our hearts forever. Belinda had made a list with a "what to do" list in the area and we gratefully made use of that. She can even draw maps very nicely :) Sisters, Eastbourne, Seaford, Brighton and Abbots Wood. Well worth it all and Lola and Ruby found it super cozy everywhere and very easy going. This was an adventure we wouldn't have wanted to miss! Belinda, thank you for everything Marc and Nadia
Don't let 6 dogs scare you away from this sit! We had never taken care of 6 of dogs at one time but we had a great week with these sweet pups. Paul was easy to communicate with & get a hold of and we felt comfortable right away. We arrived a day early to go over the dogs routine and Paul showed us around the property and the never ending things to do! The dogs are well trained and are very good with their commands. Paul has a great setup for feeding them all very easily and they know FOOD when they hear it. There are multiple kennels available depending on the weather which makes it easy to leave them after they eat and go potty so you can go about your day. Being able to use the quad to exercise them was fantastic and made it fun! Five of them took to us right away and they just want head scratches and bread snacks.The dogs have their own personalities and will keep you laughing at their antics and just make you want to smooch their cute little faces. Emma (the 3 yr old) took a little bit more time to warm up to us but with patience she came around and is such a sweetheart too. We ended up having all 6 in the house a couple of times. Mia, the 1 yr old took a little more handling but it was fun to have them all together. If that isn't your thing, no worries. Paul was clear that the dogs only need to be fed and run and you don't have to have them by your side 24/7. If you want to hang out without the dogs in the house, bark collars are available for each dog that help tremendously when they are in the outside kennels. The dogs sleep in a separate heated garage and all went to bed easily each night. Paul & Kathy's home is comfy & has everything you need. It is quiet & peaceful with so much to explore. We enjoyed riding quads by the river and hanging out by the pond. Having a fire in the woodstove every morning was one of our favorite things! If you enjoy being around super sweet well trained dogs, hanging out in a comfy home and being outside on a beautiful tree filled property with lots to do, then this sit is for you. We will definitely come back if it works out in the future!
