If I could give 10/5 I would! Karen was amazing from the get go. Easy to communicate with and always up to answer any questions we had. Karen welcomed us into her home with a huge smile and hug which immediately made us feel at ease. Paul showed Robbie the house and Karen showed me Rusty’s routine. Karen also took us on Rusty’s usual walk, so that we could get ourselves familiar with his usual spots. We spent 9 days with Rusty and by the end we wanted our own Rusty! He is such a loving, playful and enthusiastic dog. He LOVES a walk and is obsessed with playing ball in the garden. If you want a cuddle, get down to his level and let him come to you. You’ll end up getting the best cuddle ever! Make sure he doesn’t sneak up stairs as when given the accidental chance, he’ll be next to your bed before you know it haha. Thanks to Karen and her family for allowing us into their home. It’s a stunning house in a fantastic location, especially if you want to hop onto the ferry and head over to the Isle Of Wight. We loved looking after Rusty and hope to do it again in the near future!
We were warmly welcomed by Janette to her home in the outskirts of Aultbea, which is a stunning area in the NW. We enjoyed a lovely time looking after her pets. Wilbur and Storm are two lovely whippets, very easy to look after. Happy to be fed and walked with the occasional game of chase in the garden. Haggis the cat enjoys his pats and will let you know when his breakfast is due. As for the chickens, feed and water topped up. Letting them out in the garden in the morning and then shutting the coup at night when they’ve returned. Though locating their eggs in the garden was more like an easter egg hunt, not always easy to find. We found Janette a warm and generous woman who gave us lots of information regarding the area. It wa a comfortable stay and would definitely recommend this sit.
We had the best time looking after Jim, he is the most chilled out dog! Absolutely gorgeous. Flat was perfect, it felt like a holiday :)
My first impression of Viola was very positive and continued throughout the entire experience. From the moment we had our first call, we stayed in touch in case there were any updates or changes. She was also genuinely interested in my life and travel adventures, so it was nice to share my journey with her. She was kind enough to pick me up and drop me off at the train station despite her busy schedule. She also took me to more affordable grocery stores to offset the costs from being in a more expensive village (common in Switzerland). I'm not sure this is something she can always offer, but it was definitely a great gesture during my stay. Sabinka and Largo were wonderful pets to hang out with. First thing in the morning (7am), I'd take them outside and then give them breakfast. Afterward, I would walk them separately as they have different walking styles. Sabinka likes faster pace and long walks (not too long as she is getting older) and Largo likes to stroll and sniff on much shorter walks. If it was a hotter day, I'd make sure to go early before it gets above 18C or they wouldn't like it 😅 they usually went out 1-2 times mid day and Largo enjoyed being on the patio with the front door open so he could get fresh air. Unfortunately, on my visit there were either rainy days or too hot for the dogs, so we didn't go out in the garden much, but it is a lovely place to rest with the dogs for future sitters. Dinner was around 5pm and both got evening walks by 9pm. Sabinka takes medicine in her food and has no problem consuming it. Other responsibilities included cleaning their eyes (especially Largo) and brushing Sabinka. Sabinka is a great cuddler, too, so I enjoyed snuggling with her on the couch in the evenings. The apartment was comfortable and very clean. The village was very cute and I felt safe being there alone. The only downside was the cost to take transit to get to good hiking spots, but that's expected in Switzerland, and I found a couple of nice hikes near the apartment at least. I'll miss the pups but will stay in touch with Viola and I'm sure our paths will cross again! Thanks again for your hospitality 😊🙏
Sitting for Megan was my first experience with Trusted Housesitters and it was the perfect sit. Mitty, her dog is so cute, I'm really going to miss her after our few days together. Megan's apartment is in a great location, the T in to Boston is right outside or you can go for a walk around Chestnut Hill Reservoir! Communication was great with Megan, I would recommend a sit here. Thanks!
Housesitting for Bri and Ryan was such a pleasure! Not only do they have a lovely home in a beautiful, quiet Santa Barbara neighborhood, they’ve also got the sweetest cat who stole my heart the moment I walked through the door. The aptly named Gucci Maine is a very social, cuddly and easygoing Maine Coon. He loooves his food, purrs like a baby panther, and will happily participate in the occasional conversation. Bri provided a very thorough housesitting guide and was quick to answer any questions I had. I fully recommend this housesit, and would happily do it again in the future!
