we stayed a week at Claire and Laurents home looking after Lulu, Snuggles and all the chooks. the cats were super easy going and so cute. the chooks were super layers and very amusing... It had a welcoming family home feel and we felt right at home from the get go. thank you Claire and Laurent for trusting us with your animal babies and letting us stay in your lovely home. the sea breeze on the front balcony was divine.
We looked after Coco, Hector and Imelda for five days in july, and they are such sweet cats. We are a family of four and we felt so welcome in Gill and Janes lovely house in the countryside. It was lovely meeting Gill and Jane before they left for their trip. Such warm and friendly people. Everything was thought of so we would have a nice stay - a bedroom for each of our two kids, who loved the house and the three cute kittens. It was easy to look after Coco, Hector and Imelda, because we had had such good instructions and they are just easygoing cats. They warmed up more and more to us each day. We made sure to give them space also, because they could be a little nervous - especially Imelda. The last couple of days Coco and Hector loved to be stroked by us and we enjoyed playtime with them with their toys. Hector loved his toy banana :-) We LOVED Gill and Janes garden. Amazing view from the house out the hills and landscape. We are from Denmark, and this landscape with stonefences is really special to us. We were lucky to be there when there was plenty of berries in the garden. And it was so nice to pick some and have the cats follow you through the garden. We loved the area. The little town Rippendon close to the house is a real pearl. We looked through records at the "Coffee and Vinyl" coffee shop and had delicous cakes and coffee. We bought wine and beer from the two special and quite trendy wine and beer shops next to each other. And we had first class pizza from Elliot's - best pizza we have had for ages, and we are quite critical. There is plenty to do close to the house - even though it is in the countryside. Also plenty of nice pubs. We enjoyed walking to Almas Inn a couple of times for food and drinks. It only takes five minutes to walk there. I could really go on because we had such a lovely time there. And we miss the sweet cats. Coco with her big eyes, playful Hector and Imelda sitting outside on the window frame looking at everything from above. We recommend highly to petsit/housesit for Gill and Jane. Delightful people and really cute cats.
I had an amazing time in Lourinhã with Luna. James and Victoria were fun to communicate with and relaxed yet clear about what their wishes and expectations were about Luna. Luna herself is a marvelous dog - probably the best behaved dog I have yet had the pleasure to care for. She is excellent on a slack leash and easy to walk and take on car outings. I had a rental car and I had Luna sit on front seat on blankets they provided, and the car was clean after over a week of daily beach outings because Luna stayed right where I told her to. Luna did not wake me up early, which I was grateful for since I was somewhat on USA-time due to work. Luna was easy going at home and also fun to play tug-of-war and do little training sessions with. Lourinhã is an adorable town to walk around in and convenient to several stunning beaches. Luna and I spent hours every evening wandering in the long sunsets. James + Victoria are very responsive and I felt confident reaching out to them with all questions and shares I had. Their house is full of natural light, uncluttered, and private, in a small building, and I opened windows to allow beautiful sea breezes in. A great experience!
What a delight it was to relax in Mary's adorable home with Otis and Baxter! I loved cuddling them - they were sweet from the first moment I met them - and they made me laugh with their antics. What good boys! Mary's home is a Santa Fe gem - I loved being close to everything and I felt cozy, comfortable, and safe. She gave me a lovely welcome, clear instructions, is a wonderful communicator, and her home and pet care is organized and easy. I'm happy to sit with Mary's delightful boys anytime!
If you are lucky enough to be selected to take care of Freddie, be prepared to fall madly in love with the little handsome guy. He is a mini ball of energy who will put a smile on your face; he loves to play fetch and tug-of-war with his toys, and he will melt your heart when he looks in your eyes as he is cuddling with you on the couch. Freddie commands some attention on the street; everybody knows him and many people will stop to say hi to him. Sean is a great host and communication with him is easy. His apartment is in a beautiful building with great amenities and within a centric and safe location, close to attractions, public transit, Trader Joe's, etc. Great sit!!
What a wonderful house and pets sit we had looking after Polly and Davids beautiful animals, Noah, Nelson and Ned. We spent nine wonderful nights in their beautiful barn and we could not have been more comfortable. Polly and David were fantastic hosts and very attentive and communicative which always makes for an ideal house and pet sit. All three animals were just brilliant to look after. Nelson and Noah were incredibly well-behaved, especially when out walking. Their sense of recall was excellent. The walks around the village were idyllic and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. We highly recommend this house and pets sit. We would jump at the chance to come back.
