Brad did a great job watching our 2 dogs and house for us while we traveled. The dogs seemed happy and the house was picked up and organized. Overall, it was a great experience!

On the first day of their first housesit, Caron & Lance had to prepare for an ensuing hurricane, which they did with total efficiency. They handled the rest of their visit in the same competent manner. As retired farmers, we cannot praise their care of our animals too highly. They deserve more than more than 5 stars. Many thanks & good luck with all your future house sits.

***** 5-star sit!
What a delightful week we spent with Reese and Snickers in August 2024.  Both dogs love to snooze and snuggle - and their sweet temperaments make them easy to love.  Rick & Jon were wonderful about sharing hospitality and doggie tips.

Rick & Jon practice daily dog training during both morning and afternoon feedings.  Both dogs start with a sit/stay.  First Reese (the slower eater) is offered his bowl first while Snickers (the competitive eater) sits/waits and is fed interval kibbles until Reese's bowl is almost gone.  Then Snickers gets his bowl (and doesn't have a chance to steal Reese's.). Works like a charm to prevent any doggie brawls and keeps their sit/stay training in good shape.

The dogs are used to being alone during the day.  When alone in the house, the dogs are confined to the Mudroom and Kitchen area with easy-to-put-up gates.  PeePads are put out for use 24/7 in mudroom; occasional "gifts" are left in other places but easy to pick up and dispose.

Morning & afternoon walks are a short 1/4 mile walk to a dead end street in the neighborhood; no sidewalks but very few cars on the side street.

We enjoyed our snuggly sleeping with the dogs. Reese curls up in a blanket at the head of the bed. Snickers dives under covers to snuggle behind your knees.  Don't let that scamp Snickers mooch into Reese's spot or there will be some hackles to soothe.

We were forewarned not to leave chewable/eatable items on the floor or near counter/table edges; Snickers is a persistent counter-thief and can jump quite high.  Their good advice kept Snickers from using his grab-and-swallow tendencies.

Rick and Jon's home is cozy, comfy, bright, and clean.  When we stayed, the veggie garden had tons of tomatoes and hot peppers which we were encouraged to pick & eat.  Along their fence, they have created amazing espaliered fruit trees - apple and multiple pears.  Their glorious flower garden bordering the driveway and big deck was blooming like crazy - a delight to sit and listen to the birds and buzzing bees.

Kitchen is well equipped.  Rick and Jon graciously opened up a full fridge shelf for our use. Our bed was very comfy - we slept soundly.  Plenty of hangers in the closet.  Bathroom had plenty of hot water and pressure. The driveway does back out onto an often busy hill street but it was easy for one of us to watch for & stop traffic to back out our car.

Their home is near everything - Asheville downtown, River Arts District, Blue Ridge Parkway, NC Arboretum, and much more.

We went to 3 of the restaurants recommended by Rick & Jon - Rendevous, Papas & Beer and Little Pearl.  All were delicious and close by - we easily walked around the corner for Rendevous.  Each eatery has weekly specials worth checking on their websites.

This is a 5star sit.  We hope to return soon for more snuggles with Reese & Snickers!
