This was the most perfect housesit... a beautiful house in a lovely location with friendly hosts. The briefing about the dogs (& Sydney the bird) was perfect... all three such different characters... This ended up being perhaps our favourite sit to-date. We'd return in a heartbeat.
We had a great time sitting for Meg and Paul. They left very clear instructions and gave us plenty of recommendations for our time in the neighborhood. Powder is an absolute sweetie. He is so well-trained and a great hiking companion. Tesla is a cuddly gal who loves a snuggle. Meg and Paul had to come back to Denver a little earlier than expected due to a family emergency and were more than accommodating. They helped us cover the cost of a last minute Airbnb and helped us find a new sit for the remainder of our time in Denver. They are incredibly kind and considerate people with some of the best pets we’ve cared for. Would highly recommend sitting for them!
I had the best time being Bernard's slave! He is adorable, cuddly and such a character!! Wanted to take him home with me. I will miss cuddles on the sofa. Helen and David are very welcoming to their lovely home. The house and all its light coming in, looking out to the garden, watching the birds and all the bird song. Fabulous!it Highly recommend!
Margaret and Peter made me feel very welcome when I arrived to do the sitting, everything was fully explained and a comprehensive set of notes available for reference which was very helpful. Scrabble is a large black cat and quite a character, he enjoys the lovely garden he has for his territory and will always let you know when he’s hungry. I think he is a re-incarnation of Winston Churchill. The house and garden is very comfortable and has everything you could possibly need, it is a lovely home and very quick easy to settle in to with everything being kept in logical places where you would expect them to be! The village is easy to get to and provides for any immediate requirements, Sainsbury’s is a short drive and has a the normal everyday provisions, I particularly enjoyed the fresh fish counter as it had something for me every visit, I only cooked meat once in 8 days. The station and route to London is very quick and easy, I spent a whole day travelling by rail/TFL between home and Greeenwich for less than £20. Plenty of other excellent places to visit within an hour’s drive too. Thanks Margaret and Peter, I’m really looking forward to my next stay to continue exploring!
Very sweet, loving dogs. Felt fairly safe at this location, however, every door is routinely locked after every entrance and exit. Obsessively clean house-- easy to care for. Enjoyed having the home decorated with pretty Christmas lights and lovely exterior winter floral arrangements. Joelle complained about a previous sitter eating some of her eggs, prior to my arrival. I thought odd. So, made sure that I grabbed every possible food item necessary for my short house sit. Joelle suggested a good Mex restaurant in town, so I only did take-out from that place instead of doing any cooking at all. Diapers, twice a day, on each dog--was not too bothersome a task. They are darling. (I even washed all her radiant heated tile floors to make sure that every single thing was left better or as clean and fresh as possible. And sanitized and polished all counters, sinks, toilets, tables, fridge, fridge doors, micro, mirrors, shower doors to a sparkle and placed used sheets/towel in washer as requested.) I was surprised however, and a bit offended, at being down graded to '4 stars' under my 'organized' category???---- although, grateful that she did rate me as '5 thumbs up' over all. This slight down tick of 'admonishment' in my evaluation was done without explanation. Quite strange-- Especially after having been consistently rated 'perfect' in every possible way, around the world, for many sits, for many years. This small evaluation spot IS the only recent eval. platform for the sitter. (I even graciously arrived an afternoon early, to relieve Joelle of any travel stress, that she may encounter prior to her own winter morning flight out of Santa Fe, due to snow storms/my road conditions in driving 6 hrs south from Denver.) Luckily, I am naturally very kind/generous/pensive and never spiteful. And am extremely organized--especially regarding any potential emergency situation, after having been a medic/ambulance/ranger for many years in isolated areas in many national parks.
You should consider yourself very fortunate if you get to sit for Emma and David. Their home is incredible, set in the Cotswold countryside with views looking out across the farmers fields and hills in the distance. The only neighbours you’ll meet are the sheep at the end of the ‘infinity’ garden! Emma and David where very welcoming and made us feel completely at ease right from the beginning. Their communication from start to finish was second to none. The area was fantastic to explore, with so much to do in every direction. Although you didn’t have to go far for a coffee, as the village coffee house soon became our favourite place to have breakfast, lunch or a bit of cake! There are so many walks to enjoy from the doorstep and we would definitely recommend a short walk to the walled garden in the village, which was so peaceful and you wouldn’t even know it was there. Now onto Bertie and Dora…..well lets just say we’re still missing them now! They couldn’t have been any better companions for our holiday, we literally took them everywhere with us and wouldn’t have had it any other way! They were such a joy to look after. They have such different personalities but ones that complimented each other. Bertie being older is all about the sofa cuddles, belly rubs and a loved a leisurely paddle in the stream or any water in fact! Dora being younger is full of energy, she just wants to please and be your best friend. She’ll chase a ball, stick, apple or anything she can find all day long but then fall asleep and snore on your lap in the evening! Thank you so much for having us sit for you, it really was a pleasure and made for a perfect summer family holiday. We hope to return in the future.
