Margaret and her boyfriend stayed at my house while I was out of the country for 3 weeks. It seemed like a good fit but was booked very last minute because the sitters originally scheduled had a medical emergency and had to cancel. My welcome document in zeewoi is very detailed and I have had only phenomenal experiences with past sitters. I let them know my Golden is a food hound and will eat any food left out (we have tried training... he's very sweet but is a counter surfer). I received a text in the middle of the night that he ate an entire pizza they left on the counter and were not sure what to do, so they took him to the ER and incurred a $700 bill (which I paid). I am a veterinarian. He did not need to go to an ER. But moving on about a week or so later - very few updates in 2 weeks until I received another middle of the night text that she would need to leave to meet her boyfriend (who had already left) in FL because his Grandfather was ill. She said she arranged for my mother (whose phone number she had) to take over caring for the dogs. I asked her to let me know when she would be leaving so I could make arrangements for a petsitter because my Mom was not the best choice. Then I came to find out from my Mom that she called her AFTER leaving my pets at home on her way to the airport in an Uber!!!! She literally abandoned my pets and home, called my Mom after leaving hoping she would take over AND THEN texted me in the middle of the night in a foreign country!!!! She failed to respond to any of the messages sent by Zeewoi to explain herself. As if that wasn't bad enough, when my Mom did arrive to walk my dogs my house was a total mess! Dirty linens, the floor hadn't been vacuumed at all and dog hair was everywhere, there were dirty dishes in the sink and dishwasher... I left her a SPOTLESS home and she left my house dirty, my dogs uncared for and cost me a $700 vet bill and another housekeeping visit. I sincerely hope she will never be allowed to accept another sit with this organization or any other.

Carol and Kevin were fantastic house and pet sitters. Carol came to meet the cats and see the house the day before the house sit and was a wonderful communicator throughout the stay. She sent photos and updates daily and the house was immaculate when we returned. We could tell the cats received lots of cuddles and attention. We definitely would love to have Carol and Kevin return again. 5 huge stars!

JoAnna and David were awesome! We came home to happy healthy pets, our house was cleaner than we left it, and after 30 hours of traveling a hot homemade meal waiting. We received daily updates and photos while we were away. It couldn’t have gone any better for us.

I enjoyed my visit to Bend and staying with the Kimberly, Brian, Izzy, and Holland. Holland is probably one of the best well trained dogs I have ever had the pleasure to take care of. He is very smart, a great runner, and a sweetie. I would love to come back and feel like I made some good friends in this stay.

This sit was at the gateway of Sussex history which we so enjoyed, like the long country path walks to ancient churches, a castle, sheep and cattle farms, stone quarries, and vintage festivals. We love the old inns where we sat in their gardens with local folk while enjoying a pint of ale or cider. We found local folks very talkative and friendly and one of our best memories. This includes meeting Andrew our first evening and enjoying the dinner he prepared for us before leaving. Andrew was very kind to receive us warmly. He asked in advance what food items we’d like at the start of our housesit and graciously stocked up for the first days. His emails were full of stories about past travels and his favorite places. He requested infrequent check-ins which was fine with us.

What we missed from the notes and chats prior to our sit was a sketch of Fausto’s personality through actual examples of behavioral traits or habits we might and did face. For example, Fausto can be sweet and gentle and easy to love but also obstinate if he doesn’t want to walk outside. Since he is a dachshund, Fausto is not able to negotiate stairs. He must be carried up and down two flights of stairs in the flat (20 lbs.) several times a day. But when he wants to go on a walk, he will race down the lower flight of stairs to the front door. Fausto has one dog toy to play with (a wind up one). His bed must be near yours and most nights he can go without an accident. His “demanding” side as Andrew referred to it and as we later learned, meant that we had to either sequester him in the kitchen (when out for 2 to 3 hours) or close the door every time we left the room. Fausto must be with you 24/7 when you are home or he will whine, scratch the door, or bark. He will “settle down” in a closed kitchen area (with easy cleanup of accidents as needed).

Accidents do happen as we experienced and saw in carpet stains which we attributed to Fausto. For some reason, he soiled the floor periodically if we didn’t keep a watchful eye on him. Even when we put him out on the balcony (there is no yard) or out for a walk every hour or two, he might have an accident. Things improved once we could anticipate this behavior. This fact, along with some latent cigarette smoke in the house gave off an odor in some locations. (We were not told of apparent smoking in the house prior to our sit.)

Weeks before our sit Andrew talked about seeing some sites in the area and being gone 4-5 hours and he left pamphlets about them. However, in the week before and at arrival, Andrew emphasized not to be away from Fausto more than 2 - 3 hours which, when using the buses, meant only towns within a 10 mile radius. It was unfortunate we couldn’t go further occasionally. Future sitters would do well to have a car to enable lengthier day trips within the time constraint of tending to Fausto. We do see the trouble that a whining or barking dog in the apartment could be to close neighbors when left alone for an extended time. We did our best and learned a lot, but wish we were told more details to know what to expect.
