Overall, Cheryl was great. I only gave four stars for pet care but let me explain. I went away for 3 weeks. There was a heat wave the entire time I was away, and I was so afraid my newly planted back yard would wilt to death. Therfore, I leaned on Cheryl heavily to water my back yard plants and shrubs, which is a time-consuming job. She sent videos of my back yard along the way to show me how things were looking. As well as the outside, she also watered my indoor plants regularly. I returned home to see all my new shrubs and plants thriving despite the high 90 degree temps. I also returned to a wonderfully clean house and a satisfied kitty. The main issue around the pet care was that Cheryl believed my kitty should be fed more than I have been feeding him for the past 11 years (based on vet's recommendation) . Despite our email communication regarding her concerns he was not fed enough, and me clearly stating to keep to the feeding directions I'd left, Cheryl disregarded this and fed him more anyway. Although I'd left more than enough cat food to cover the time I was away, the last week she ran out of cat food and needed to buy more. I felt Cheryl was not tuned in to my cat's behavior. While she interpreted my cat was hungry whenever he meowed, much of the time he simply wants/needs/responds well to some gentle talking to with affectionate touching (massages, hair brushing, rubbing his belly), or just a few minutes of interactive play. Yet if food is offered, he will never turn it down. During Cheryl's housesit, I emphasized the yard watering. Because I felt like this was a big inconvenience and burden to place on anyone, I didn't want to emphasize that my sweet cat also required alot of attention. I knew my kitty could make it through 3 weeks on less than his usual amount of loving, but my yard would not survive a heat wave without watering! Because of my choice, I take some responsibility for the perceived lack of attention in the pet department.

This was a lovely sitting. Sandra and Andy are generous, thoughtful hosts. They welcomed me with a great dinner and provided all the information and everything necessary for me to have a comfortable stay. Communication was great throughout the process and the apartment is nice and clean and walkable distance to Cambridge main attractions.
Steve is a gentle soul. He’s one of the most accommodating cats I’ve ever looked after. He’s quite low maintenance and pretty cuddly too. He warmed up to me very easily.
I highly recommend this sit.

We felt so DELIGHTED TO BE CHOSEN to BE THE VERY FIRST TIME SITTERS FOR STELLA IN HER LIFE! :-) And will remember this opportunity forever - how many times in your life you can be the first to take care of little princess when "hooman" are on vacation?

Eva and Dermott gave us super friendly welcome, honest and open communication prior to the sit, super welcoming home - we felt immediately like at real home. The house is located in beautiful area of Antwerpen with lot of opportunities of walking while enjoying the silence of the family houses around and feeling safe.

Stella was SIMPLY AMAZING. 6,5 months old puppy with the desire to discover the world, walk endless walks and see everything at the same time. While also trying the limits, of course :-) Stella's mentality is amazing - loyal, cheerful, curious - perfect partner for everyday life.

We really sincerely hope this was not our last sit with this lovely family in Belgium. We miss you all already and thank you once again for this opportunity that will stay in our hearts for a long time!

I'm appreciative of the communication that was shared between Kimberly regarding her home, along with sitting Frida & Jubs. Both of them are loving pets that I had been honored to sit! Located in a town north of Austin where there are trails & local eateries that are a stones throw from the house. So, for anyone that may want to skip the drive into the city, they can do so & still enjoy themselves.

I'd love to sit Frida & Jubs again on the behalf of Kimberly when I do have time for to do so!

They were incredible days. A beautiful experience. We were months away from home and our pets. Staying with Skala helped us ease our homesickness. The house is beautiful and cozy. They welcomed us very well and we felt comfortable. thank you for everything 🙏🏽

What a magical house sit!! Both the pets and the home are just lovely! Barbara has done a phenomenal job on decorating her home and the back yard is something special. I loved taking the dogs out there each morning with my coffee. The dogs give the BEST cuddles! They are truly the sweetest! And Barbara herself is a gem of a human! This house sit is a must!
