I cannot thank Alyssa enough for loving on my girl and leaving my house in immaculate condition. She is an amazing communicator, she’s extremely tidy, she sent me pictures every day of my girl and she is most definitely the sweetest person! You can tell she has a way with pets and truly loves what she does. I hope I can have her back for many more future sits. Thank you Alyssa for everything!! 💗
The beautiful 1800s Ingleby Lodge invites you to an exclusively gated home, nestled in privately amongst the greenery of Netheredge - listed as one of Sheffield’s ‘Best Places’ to live in 2024 (we can’t argue with that). The house welcomes you into the open-plan kitchen, where the underfloor heating and variable lighting throughout the abode warms your soul from the inside and instantly makes you feel right at home. We spent most of our evenings and days here as it was a lovely space to hang out, listen to music and eat great food together. Second to this, we would spend a lot of time in the living room, attending to the fireplace, getting cosy and watching a film chosen from the vast choice of entertainment platforms. The rest of the house comprises of a gallery (we called this ‘our office’ as it was such vibe to work from home in there), a library, an assortment of bedrooms and bathrooms - including a separate annex attached to the house itself. We’d only just discovered another en-suite and a draw, which had all the pots and pans we needed two weeks into our stay - but I’ll put that down to OUR lack of observational skills and not because the house is too big! The home is characterised by quirky and wonderful personal statements, which reflects the passion for music, sport and Sheffield pop culture, which glitters throughout the home - if you aren’t from Sheffield, you will be now. Do not be overwhelmed by the vastness of this house, as you’ll undoubtedly be comforted by Nick’s meticulously detailed manual, should you need to know anything about the house - a definite win! Along with this, Sarah and Nick were always a phone call, text message away should you find yourself desperately looking for the wine opener (there are wine openers - don’t fret!). Sarah and Nick are wonderful people and we are so glad to have met them. They were very communicative, consistent and helpful throughout the stay, despite being at the other end of the world. We were given a lot of peace of mind knowing that their neighbourhood community and networks were around for support if we ever became stuck in a sticky situation - thankfully we had no disasters. Sarah and Nick welcome you to their home and it’s a privilege to have been trusted to live there. All they ask is that you take care of the two things they treasure very dearly… Nellie & Geoff (I think the cheese plant comes third??). Nellie and Geoff are two absolutely gorgeous sweethearts whose breeds are ‘Wallies’ (Collies x Whippets) that we grew to love very deeply - an emotional wreck upon our departure of the house was imminent. If you are looking for two wonderfully low-maintenance and well-behaved companions to keep you company, then these guys are for you. Nellie is the perfect example of a dog. She’s loving, she’s funny, she’s young at heart, she’s affectionate, she’s daft but she’s incredibly smart and VERY well-behaved - her collie genetics makes her very obedient to instructions (ahem, a very good assistance pub dog). Geoff is just as perfect but he’s an older boy now. Although a little bit senile and very hard of hearing, he is the grand age of 14 and he’s doing well - his whippet genetics still allow him to get the random ‘zoomies’ in the garden. He’s exceptionally cute (The MASSIVE ears get us every time) and a pleasure to have around - just PLEASE don’t stand on him as he will follow you around like a ghost. It’s been a pleasure and a serotonin boost to have these dogs around us and have made our lives content for the three-week duration of our stay. To reiterate, they are incredibly low maintenance, easy-going and very well-behaved. All they want is to be around you, chill out and go on some lovely walks (possibly a pint at the pub) - it’s a win-win situation. Thank you for an amazing experience ❤️
We absolutely loved our time in Neil's stunning house looking after his two lovely spaniels, Hugo and Ralph. The garden with it's two ponds is enchanting and the dogs loved racing round it or chasing a ball on the lawn. The lounge looks out over the lower pond and we were able to watch the birdlife in comfort. We took them out for some great walks especially along the north coast with the charming towns of Padstow and Wadebridge only 20 minutes away. We had good communications with Neil before and during the sit and we would reccommend it to anyone and would definitely go back.
Kenny and Romey's home is lovely and we had such a great time looking after Zuri and Bagheera! Their home was set in a beautiful forested area, safe and quiet, but still a quick drive to amenities. We loved waking up to the birds every morning. Zuri was an absolute sweetheart with us and loved our walks and ball throwing. Bagheera is super cute, independent, but still affectionate and loves tuna and scratches! Overall, we had an amazing time caring for Romey and Kenny's pets and home. We'd happily return in a heartbeat! Thank you for the opportunity to stay!
It was a great pleasure to meet Helen and Richard and look after Marley and Thomas. Their house is very nice to live in and they made every possible effort to make our stay nice and easy. The countryside is lovely with lots of possible walks and nice places to visit around. We will keep good memories of our stay there but most of it, we feel like we have met very nice people.
What a lovely house sit! Susan and I spent 3 delightful weeks at Alison and Doug's beautiful home with Ellie the standard poodle, and daily visits from a neighbour's happy dog. Alison invited us to arrive the evening before their departure, to get acquainted, and she prepared a delicious vegetarian dinner for us. She also prepared a complete and concise Welcome Guide to refer to while they were away. Ellie was a little shy and aloof at first, but warmed up to us as the days passed and then we had a lot of fun romping around the house and garden. She especially enjoyed our walks in the woodsy neighbourhood and around a nearby lake, sometimes joined by the neighbour dog Maeby, who is Ellie's best friend. The gardens are a pleasant culmination of 40 years of creative activity and we especially enjoyed seeing all the birds that were attracted to the lush landscape. Each day there were flocks of wild turkeys meandering by and owls hooting softly from the treetops. Alison & Doug were easy to reach for any questions we had, and we frequently shared experiences - theirs on their travels and ours from the home front. We'd certainly be happy and honoured to be invited back to sit for Alison, Doug and Ellie again.
Daniel and Catherine are wonderful hosts. Their 4 pets, Bobby, Toby, Leo and Newton are very easy to care for. They are very lovable and sweet. The home is well located close to all the beaches and attractions in Saint Petersburg where you can find great restaurants and museums and of course beautiful beaches. The neighborhood is quiet and great for walking the dogs. You will certainly enjoy this house sit.
