Veronica and Adam exceeded our already high expectations, they are extremely reliable and trustworthy housesitters. We had them referred to us by a neighbor who knew of their outstanding reputation here in Cape Town. Since we found them through referral and weren’t yet zeewoi members, so we asked for references from them and called a handful of people they had sat for in the past. Every single person we spoke to had nothing but glowing things to say about their experience. We were sold. Veronica and Adam looked after our two German Shorthair Pointers, our cat, and our property for three months. They exceeded our high expectations in every way. Here are a few examples. Our younger dog Dakota suffered from a seizure shortly before we left. We asked them to monitor him and he had another seizure shortly after we left on our travels. Adam and Veronica followed our instructions of administering emergency medication during his seizure, and then rearranged their work day to rush him to the vet. They worked with our local vet to have tests and bloodwork done and he’s now on maintenance medication and has been seizure free. Our cat slash was in a cat fight during their stay and came home with a wound. They took him to the vet, gave him his daily antibiotics, isolated him inside and treated his wound until it healed. They also found a tick on our other dog Kaila a couple of days after a long hike. They knew how to remove and treat it, and then after speaking with us, got all our pets up to date with their flea and tick medication. A number of maintenance issues came up with our home that needed repair including our doors, pool, and water heating systems. They were proactive and contacted the appropriate people and sorted out all of these issues. Through all of this they were excellent communicators and kept us in the loop and asked us the right questions. They made our home and pets their #1 priority and completely earned our trust. Aside from that, they were generous with their purchasing of treats, toys, and general household items. You won’t find better, more capable and thoughtful sitters. We trust Veronica and Adam completely and want them to come back and sit for us again.

Emma and Sohiab were fantastic! Five stars all around! They took great care of both our pets and our home as well (it was definitely cleaner when we got back than it was when we left!). We'd love to have them house sit for us again anytime we're gone.

Ian
The sit was a delight. Charlie, Catherine and Daisy were all absolutely adorable...The plunge pool was a relief from the summer heat, and walkies at 6.30 to 7.30am, was enjoyed by the doggies in the cool of the morning...and us...lol.

Ian kindly installed a portable AC in our bedroom, which made a huge difference to our sleep, and also got us insured for his car for shopping trips, as our big Sprinter is a bit different to drive in town... :)

Ian's welcome could not have been better, and can highly recommend this sit. This may seem a bit daft, but Carolyn and I both had tears when we left, as we may never see these beautiful doggies again...

Thank you Ian and THS for giving us a wonderful fix of canine love, especially after losing our own...xx

Very best wishes. Carolyn and Tony.

Jacqui
I met with Jacqui before she departed and everything was perfectly explained to me. I had a fantastic weekend staying and the two cats Tom and Tiggy are the sweetest. They do like to come and visit the bed in the morning which is lovely being woken with a purr and a nudge. Tiggy is very shy but both cats are affectionate and inquisitive.
The area is lovely and quiet and there is so very much to do in the nearby area. Absolutely loved it.

Kat
Kate is lovely. However, this sit presented a few challenges for me that might be helpful for future sitters to know about.

Kate will advise you to never take food away from Bowie. Despite heeding that warning, I unexpectedly experienced his aggression on the very first night, which included loud barking, lunging, and attempting to bite me. It was unsettling, to say the least!

I also learned Bowie has a knack for swiping food off any surface within his reach. Therefore, ensuring all food is out of his reach is important. I'd also suggest promptly clearing away empty dog food cans after feeding them to prevent any mishaps!

So, be aware that it's crucial to exercise EXTRA caution around Bowie especially if there's food, anything even smells like food, or if you find him chewing on something - give him space!

After witnessing his unpredictable nature, I'd also advise not startling him in any way. He's a sweet dog, but "street dog tendencies" are due to trauma, which means he can get triggered and doesn't even realize his reactions are so extreme.

Kate suggests letting Bowie sleep on the bed, but his movements (licking and scratching) shake the whole bed and are quite disruptive. Unfortunately he also aggressively barked at me when I tried to move him to the other side of the bed one night, so I opted to keep him out of the bedroom for a more peaceful sleep.

The open-front-door policy for the pets also means you'll have a mosquito party at night. So, another benefit of sleeping in the bedroom with the door closed is that there are screens on those windows. Along with using some mosquito repellent, it helped me avoid getting bitten and sleep better (unlike the first few disruptive nights with doors open and Bowie on the bed).

Dao is a sweetheart and won't give you any trouble. Though walks with both of them can be intense, especially along the busy street. So, be prepared to maintain a firm hold on their leashes!

Olive, Kate’s cat, is an absolute dream. She's the perfect snuggle buddy – a real highlight of the sit! I fell in love with her.

The house itself is very rustic and while Kate has done her best to give it some charm, it also comes with a number of inconveniences.

Overall, this wasn't the right fit for me, as the challenges ultimately outweighed the joys. But I hope this forewarning will help make your experience smoother and more enjoyable if you're up for the adventure!

We can only warmly recommend this house and petsit. The pets are super laid back and very cuddly, the house is beautiful and has everything you need, the neighborhood is quiet and Kristin and her family were lovely. We felt very welcome and at home right from the start. We would have loved to stay a little longer :)

Edmund
Taking care of Lucy and Binky was such a delight. They were super affectionate and playful and I miss them a lot to be honest. Communication with Edmund was pleasant and went smooth. He was in Africa during the sit, therefore at times not reachable. But luckily he left me the phonenr of a nearby friend in case of emergencies.
