I had confirmed Carolina for three sits a few weeks apart over the course of two months. This review is for the first sit. I found her to be pleasant and Ellie seemed to take to her right away. She was willing to meet up before the sit to meet Ellie and learn more about her quirks and challenges. She asked great questions and my initial impression of Carolina was positive. While she seemed a bit disorganized, she was eager to ensure she followed all my instructions in the Welcome Guide. I felt Ellie would be in good hands while I was gone. During the sit, Carolina was not the most communicative. Admittedly I never said how often I would like an update, but I would reach out every few days if I didn't hear from her. If I texted, her responses were quite delayed and if I called, her phone often went to voicemail. When she did answer her phone, she was never home. I remember one conversation where she said she had been out and all I could think was "who is taking care of my dog?" This concerned me a lot. Fortunately when I returned home, Ellie seemed fine, which is most important.
**House Sitting Review: Honey the Cat in Bukit Panjang, Singapore** I recently had the pleasure of house sitting for 22 days in a lovely, peaceful 3-bedroom condo (with enormous gorgeous pool) in Bukit Panjang, Singapore, and it was an unforgettable experience. Tracey, the homeowner, was a delight to meet during our overlap meeting and in our WhatsApp conversations. She made sure I was well-informed and comfortable, which set the tone for a wonderful stay. The neighborhood itself offered a perfect way to live like a local. I quickly made friends with Jenna at Pretty Face Beauty Salon after receiving one of her amazing facials—truly top-notch! Jenna introduced me to her friends and family, and we even went trekking up Bukit Timah together. It was such a welcoming community. Transportation was incredibly convenient, with the MRT, LRT, and bus services all nearby. There were also two hawker centers close by for delicious and affordable meals, or you could take a quick trip into the city for endless dining options. For anyone needing tips, feel free to ask Tracey for my WhatsApp, and I'd be happy to share more insights! During my stay, I made the most of my time by exploring the area. I went kayaking to Pulau Ubin and visited Sentosa Island, among other activities. There was so much to do, and I felt like I truly experienced the best of Singapore. As for Ms. Honey, the resident cat, she might start off with a bit of hissing, but once she realizes you’re a good person, she’ll become your best friend. I taught her to chase treats, which she seemed to enjoy, and she absolutely loves being rubbed. However, she prefers not to be picked up. Overall, she was super easy to care for and is such a pretty cat. I truly hope to have the opportunity to house sit for Honey again someday. It was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone considering it!
