Pet Sitters in Smith Valley, IN

Adrienne is such a warm, fun, outgoing lady. She took wonderful care of Harley & Rusty, walking them at least twice a day. She definitely bonded with them. She sent pictures & kept us updated while we were gone. Adrienne seemed to enjoy her time here (taking lots of pictures). She met many of our neighbors & their dogs. It was nice she came a full day ahead of time so that we could show her around The Villages, especially getting around in our golf cart to restaurants, grocery stores, an entertainment area & swimming pool. After driving Adrienne around in the golf cart the day she arrived, my husband had her drive the golf cart the next morning before we left so she could get familiar with driving it. She did struggle with finding her way around in the golf cart after we left, even though we left maps of The Villages & told her about The Villages app with GPS. Because she was uncomfortable getting around in the golf cart, she asked a neighbor to help her & he took her to get groceries. We feel bad that she wasn't able to find her way around while she was here. We've labelled the light/fan switches in the house. Some of the switches (indicated with a red dot) control lights that are on a timers and we informed Adrienne about the meaning of the red dot. She must have accidentally manually turned off the living room light that was on a timer and didn't realize it, so it was dark in the living room. We typically leave out extra light bulbs in case one goes out. Well, we forgot this time to leave them out & of course, a bulb in the guest bedroom went out while we were gone. But Adrienne was self sufficient & used the lantern I left. Upon our return, she indicated she didn't contact us to find out where extra bulbs were because the lantern worked fine; so glad she found a solution! The only downside of this sit was the cleanliness of our home upon our return. Our dogs primarily stay in the enclosed lanai & they go outside through the lanai door. When they come in from outside, dried grass comes in on their paws (especially when it's damp outside) so we're totally understanding about grass in the lanai. However, there was a lot of dried grass in the house, especially the kitchen. When I mentioned it to Adrienne, she said it must have come in on her shoes because the dogs had not been in the house. Also, something had run over in the microwave & hadn't been cleaned up so I had to clean the microwave before I could use it the night of our return. Dishes were left in the dishwasher. Adrienne did wash the guest bedroom sheets before we came home, but she stayed the night of our return & slept in the bed again (she said she only sleeps on the very edge of the bed so the other side was clean for the next people using the guest bedroom). We really liked Adrienne & she was excellent with our dogs, which is the most important thing! We would ask her to sit for us again with our expectations of home cleanliness.

Hannah was wonderful with our fur babies! They tend to be very shy around new people but warmed up to Hannah quickly. She was very attentive to Neve during a storm and to Beetle when she stepped on a bee. And sent cute photos which we appreciated! Will happily have her back!

Chloe, our cat, is in great hands with Madeline. Cant say enough good things. Highly recommend.

Laura and Michael and their two sons, Samuel and Sebastian, watched our place while we visited our daughter in Portland OR. They arrived the day before we left to get aquatinted with the house and the animals. Our location was convenient for the family because Michael was participating in a seniors track meet at UVA. While we were gone there was an animal emergency which required a trip to the vet for Abby, one of our dogs. Laura kept us informed regularly on the status of Abby which was comforting. We have one challenging young dog (Rosita) who has enough energy for five dogs. Laura and the boys handled her with grace and firm, consistent love. I think, based on pics sent to me, that Samuel and Sebastian bonded well with her. All of our other animals (cats, fish, chickens) were also well looked after. The house was clean and tidy when we returned home and a bottle of wine awaited us on the kitchen table. Laura and Michael have a lovely family. We enjoyed their company and our home will always be open for them. I neglected to ask Michael about his success at the track meet. It was quite a hot week.

Charlee and Gleb were great home and pet sitters. They worked to become comfortable with all three of our pets, walked Lady our dog, kept the house neat, and communicated with us as to how the sit was working. They both are caring adults with positive attitudes and personalities. I enjoyed meeting both of them and having them sit for us. I would have them again and highly recommend them as sitters.

A+++++. Greg did an amazing job with our fur babies. He kept them spoiled like we do and sent us updates on a regular basis. He also kept the house very neat and clean. Would definitely invite back to our home again!

It was a pleasure to have Julie stay in our home and care for our pets. She was communicative and open throughout. Our pets were well cared for and our home left clean and tidy. We would certainly recommend Julie as a pet and house sitter. (We were just so sorry the weather was unseasonably cold and we did not prepare for the wintery heating schedule - lesson learnt on our part!)

Abbie was phenomenal! This was certainly the most difficult and eventful sit we've ever handed off to anyone and we were lucky to have her for it. She was so communicative, adaptable, reliable, and handled all the unexpected events with understanding and good humor. Our dog Tuna is people-shy, dog-reactive and had a health scare prior to the sit, so Abbie had some extra responsibilities from the start. In addition to the daily medical updates we requested, she also sent extra photos and little snippets of their daily happenings. We could see how comfortable Tuna was getting with her! When Tuna refused to go down our usual off-leash trails for unknown personal canid reasons, Abbie pivoted and explored until she was able to find an alternate route for long walks. Leash walking around a neighborhood is never as fun as off-leash trails, but Abbie was committed to getting Tuna's daily exercise in and safely led her through the local traffic (tricky when your nosy dog likes watch oncoming cars from the middle of the road). When a large loose dog charged at them, Abbie kept Tuna calm and kept both dogs safely separated until the owner was able to wrangle their dog back inside. We came back to a clean house, happy plants, and of course, a happy Tuna. We'd recommend Abbie anywhere!

Leslie was an absolutely wonderful sitter. She obviously truly loves spending time with animals and my cats were relaxed and very happy campers on my return. She sent fun and informative texts and pictures of the kitties at play. The house was spotless on my return and she took excellent care of everything while I was away. I would ask her back in a heartbeat.

Maggie watched our 2 year old golden retriever while we were out of the country for 9 days. She was very self reliant and took great care of Max and our home. She communicated well with us leading up to the trip, was responsive during the trip and left our house clean and with fresh linens. Thanks Maggie!

Hope and Terra were great! They took excellent care of Rae, who was not feeling well when they arrived. They let me know and handled the situation without any concerns on my part. They left the house clean, and I could not even tell they had been here. They communicated with me as needed and shared photos of Rae, which I loved!

Courtney was fantastic. This was my first time using a dog sitter and I was anxious. Buster is 16 years old and requires meds and tons of company to alleviate anxiety. Courtney was great with Buster, took great care with his meds/walks, etc. She is a joy to deal with, extremely communicative and my house was in better order when I got home from my trip than when I left it! I was lucky to get her -- and you will be, too. Fingers crossed she is available the next time I need someone!
