My husband and I had such a wonderful experience looking after the dogs at Washago!!!!! Brenda and Johnny are some of the nicest, most welcoming people we have ever met and we felt completely at home in their house! They communicated with us every step of the way the moment the house sit was booked and made us feel very comfortable asking questions while they were away. They took us an hour away to the train station at the end of our stay and let us stay extra nights while they were home also. It was very nice to get to know them. While four dogs was a lot of work at times the dogs are beautiful and very well behaved. Brenda has over 17 years of dog training experience and it shows with these dogs. They are very calm and eager to please. We learnt a lot from Brenda and Johnny because of this experience! I am from the animal industry and love having an animal related purpose each day and to get up and care for the dogs was a pleasure. Because there was four of them they are a big part of the day so you do need to be prepared to make them so if you come and stay. 2 of the dogs were also fairly new members of the family, recently being rescued (lucky them to join this family!) so there were a few challenges there but we talked this through with Brenda and Johnny and were always very supported through this transition. In general Brenda and Johnny have a pretty simple routine for the dogs in place and you can still go out and enjoy the sights around. George is the easiest dog to look after and has such an entertaining, quirky and snuggly personality. We particularly enjoyed his routine day dreaming out of the window each day. Lulu is beautiful, loving, loyal and desperate to please. We did find the importance of sticking to the strong training regime in place for Lu. Hanna and Ben were the new family members. Hanna is a gorgeous, energetic, intelligent and playful young girl! Being a new member of the family she took some time to adjust to us, a little nervous of our fresh faces, but adjusted quickly under Brenda and Johnnys advice and the training in place. Mr Ben stole my heart and is such a funny, intelligent and, at times bossy, little man who loves a cuddle with his new pack (including the human members) any chance he can. The house was so comfortable- right on the river! We went kayaking several times and enjoyed the wonderful hot tub as well. Washago is a really great area to stay in and we had everything we could ever need at the house. We grew very attached to the beautiful dogs and will miss them!! We would love to house sit or even just pop in for a cup of coffee with the lovely Brenda and Johnny again!
Our experience with Victoria and Giles was truly exceptional, and we would love to housesit for them again anytime! Their house is absolutely beautiful, boasting stunning views of green fields that added to the overall tranquility of our stay. From their warm hospitality to the joy of spending time with Ted, every moment was memorable. We cherished our walks through the fields, Ted's charming company as we worked, and the peace that enveloped us in their lovely home and neighborhood. Victoria and Giles are wonderful hosts, and we highly recommend housesitting for them. We can't wait for the opportunity to return and create more cherished memories in their delightful home.
Sitting Jack for Cyndi and George was truly a treat! For starters, their condo is wonderful. The location is prime with views of Tampa Bay and the Safety Harbor marina. The place is large and bright and very comfortable. Safety Harbor is a gem of a town. There are many small businesses and cute shops and restaurants lining the Main Street, just steps from their building. I also enjoyed the waterfront parks and walking trails. Jack, their 8 year old black cat, is a sweetheart. It only took him a day or so to warm to me and after that we were good friends. He was very relaxed most of the time and in fact spends a good part of the day sleeping. He let me know when he was hungry. He didn’t sleep with me, but he did let me scoop him up for cuddles and pets often. Cyndi and George were perfect hosts as well. The day I arrived, they had everything organized and thoroughly informed me about their home. There was ample closet space for me, which I appreciated. Their home has all the amenities you could want. I was given access to the pool and gym, and allowed to park in their spot in the garage. George was also so helpful over the phone when my car wouldn’t start. Overall, I am so lucky to have gotten to stay here. Thank you so much!
Erin is wonderful she sent me a video so I would feel 100% confident in taking care of Luna and buddy- who are both gems!! Not only are they cute but so mellow and easy going. Walks with buddy we’re fun and also being outside with Luna was lovely. Everything was great I loved staying here with the furballs. 🌟🌟
Paige is easy to communicate with and made us feel right at home - she kindly let us arrive a day early and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Squiggles is such a sweet girl, she loves cuddling and keeping cosy on a warm lap. She’s an older cat so needs some extra TLC and some medicines but nothing too complicated. She can be very vocal when she needs something but is such a sweetheart and often just wants treats or some gentle company. Paige and Kung-Gene’s apartment is wonderful - very comfortable, quiet and in a great location that’s walking distance from many great restaurants and shops. We wouldn’t hesitate to sit for Squiggles again!
I would like to say we had a horrible time to keep this hidden gem to ourselves but I have to tell the truth. House sitting for Jim and Gill was such a wonderful experience: they welcomed us with open arms and had so many thrilling stories to tell. It’s such a shame we didn’t get to spend more time with them, everything they had to say was both funny and inspiring. Their house is incredibly cozy and feels like a real home, you can tell a lot of love and thought has gone into it and you will feel comfortable as soon as you step though the door. Each hen (and Jack) has their own personality. They're very chatty, smart and docile. I got very attached to them during the few days we were there... The many feathery visitors are an incredible sight, they come every morning and are always very grateful when you feed them. Dornoch and its surrounding area felt so authentic and had more than enough things to do to keep us busy. You will see seals, highland cows, deer, hills and mountains, beautiful villages, a lighthouse, and the sea. If you love being surrounded by nature while being within easy reach of all amenities this is the place! The Trawler is not to be missed for the best Fish and Chips you will ever have (really). Overall, if the opportunity to house sit for this awesome couple comes up, jump on it and make the most of your stay and you will have a magical experience!
