They were great. Communicated well before during and as leaving. The house was just as we left it. And the dogs were happy. They reported they played ball and walked the dogs (minding our concerns for heat), fed the dogs in the ways we requested, etc. very pleased!
> This review is from Jonathan. Emily could not join, unfortunately :( This was a truly magical housesit. First, Tessa is the coolest, smartest, sweetest dog you will ever come across. She guided me through the many beautiful trails of River Cloud farm, helped me diligently in the garden, and paid a watchful eye when I tended the chickens. We got into so many fun adventures and were the best of friends early on. She’s super easy to care for and will just tell you when she wants something. I miss her mightily. Second, the farm is amazing, nestled in a gorgeous portion of Vermont. Saint Johnsbury is a small town – cool, quirky, and laid back with great restaurants and live music in the summer. The house itself is so comfortable and rejuvenating. It’s immediately clear how much Dakota and Chris have poured their hearts into everything. Every detail is thoroughly thought out in the most pleasant way possible. Finally, Dakota and Chris are the best. They are truly kind-hearted, inviting, hospitable and down to earth folks. They are gracious hosts and showed me all the ropes of River Cloud farm life before the sit. Communication is excellent, with everything you’d want to know in a handy guidebook they’ve created for sitters. They gave great local recommendations and were immediately available for communications, even when traveling overseas. They are excellent people. I can’t recommend Tessa and the River Cloud experience enough. If you’re lucky enough to get invited for a sit you’re in for a treat.
Roxie and Brady were wonderful dogs to hang out with and the kids adored them. Our kids also enjoyed the table tennis in the games room, climbing the mound of Thetford Castle in the park outside of the house, exploring the grounds of the old priory, finding flint and coming across the memorial to Maharaja Duleep Singh. Thetford was a fun place to spend a few days. Thanks Dennis and Amy for a great base for adventures and the company of two great dogs!
I would highly recommend this house sit - George was a very friendly and affection cat (without being too clingy) and Fiona made was an incredibly welcoming host who made me feel very at home. I had a lovely week working from their beautiful home with George and would definitely do it again.
We had an amazing time looking after the all the animals and even got a few rides in on the horses! The dogs were all so fun and well behaved and loved going on walks with them. The house was clean and Kerry left us with a wee goodie basket of essentials. The shops and cafes are really close and people were super friendly. We were left with clear instructions which made things go smoothly. Kerry was great at communicating throughout when we had questions. Thanks for a lovely housesit!!
I had the most beautiful experience looking after Lupe the pup and Yunus the kitty! Kabir has a charming little home in a sweet, safe, and peaceful neighborhood and I felt so comfortable and at ease there (the abundance of snuggles from Lupe and Yunus certainly contributed to this feeling!) Lupe is super chill and I really enjoyed feeling the warmth of her laying next to me as I read on the couch or worked on my laptop. Yunus is quite playful and sweet, and I always giggled when he'd curl himself into the straw basket on the dining room table while I sat there writing (thinking to myself, ah, that's why there's no fruit in that basket! hehe) Kabir has a gorgeous collection of books to read and the backyard is a little sanctuary with a table and chairs, a happy citrus tree, and raised garden beds. I really appreciated the clarity and thoroughness of Kabir's communication with me too. Sprouts is only a 6-minute drive from the house and it's close enough to the freeway to get around anywhere you might need to go quickly without feeling like you're right smack dab in the middle of all the action. Perfect location if you ask me! It would be my pleasure to look after Lupe and Yunus again if the opportunity presented itself. An overall wonderful experience!
Excellent communication and flexibility from Nick throughout. Very welcoming on arrival with very thorough introduction and tour. Very comfortable home in a quiet location. Buffy & Giles take their time to warm to you, Giles more so but from then they are very friendly and attentive cats. I would recommend & return.
