Highest of recommendations for Frances and Ray! Warmest people you will ever meet, we hung out for an hour before I left and they fell in love with the dog. While I was away they sent pictures of the dog on adventures, this really made me happy. When I arrived home the house was cleaner than I left it amd the sheets and towels were washed and hung out. Amazing people, I hope to see you again.
Ella has a natural bond with cats and dogs. They like her instantly and she is very affectionate towards them. The pets (10 cats and 3 dogs) were complete relaxed when we came home. They even missed her the first few days when she left. Ella is a very sweet kind hearted person and we think she sometimes was a bit overwhelmed with all the work (pay attention to our pets, walk the dogs several times a day, tidy the house) it brings, to have such a big group of pets in the house, but she did well. She is a very reliable person doing the best she can to keep the pets happy, the house tidy and also taking care of your belongings. If she gets visitors in the house she will let you know or if she is not sure if a pet is allowed to do something she will ask to, for us that was very relaxing and gave us confidence. We surely will recommend her as a pet- and house sitter for a longer time. She did marvelous for a two weeks sit in our "zoo". Thank you very much for everything Ella!
Is it better to board cats or leave at home?
Veterinarians advising to leave cats at home with a pet sitter who will stay overnight in your home, boarding is not recommended for cats as they are stressed in a new environment, you can find a sitter who will care for your cats and home overnight at Sittsy.
How much should you pay someone to watch your cat?
At least 29.99 per visit, $25/week per overnight watching in your home, otherwise you can find a free sitter at Sittsy.
What do people do with their cats when they go on vacation?
Inviting a cat sitter to your home, boarding the cat with a local business, asking a friend, family or neighbour to feed and check the well-being. The most efficient way to leave your cat during your vacation is with Sittsy cat sitters overnight, in this way, you will save cat sitting costs and make vacation not only for you but also for your cat sitter!
We used Happy Tails for when we went cross country to California. May 30-June 12 it was under $800 and that included doggy daycare. Our dog was happy and healthy when we got back with no problems at all.
Happy Tails is a warm and friendly place and Rory just absolutely loves going there! They have helped him with his anxiety and often match him with specific dogs that he plays really well with!
So thankful for happy tails! The staff is wonderful and have always been very accommodating to both of my dogs. One of my dogs requires a lot more patience and they have gone above and beyond for him. Plus, they always leave tired and happy! The “report cards” are super cute and fun too.
I have a VERY sensitive dog and this is the only daycare out of the 5 or 6 I have been to that he gets excited to go to in the morning. He is very happy to see each and every member of the staff. Begrudgingly, even the nice lady who does his nails. The owner has a strong presence at the business and he is very passionate about the care of your animals. Keep up the good work guys!
Happy Tails is the best doggy day care we’ve sent our dog to in all of New England!! The staff is friendly and know what they’re doing. Our dog always comes home happy!
I have a 2 year old Siberian husky who attended daycare multiple times. She has been accustomed to daycare since she was 4 months old and had no problems whatsoever. After my dog had spent multiple days a week at Happy Tails, I was told that i needed to have a discussion about my dog’s anxiety during break time. I was not aware that this day care had break time, where they put the dogs in separate kennels that resemble animal shelter cells. I do not kennel my dog, she’s a Siberian husky/malamute mix who is very active. She has attended multiple daycares who do not practice “break time.” She can self regulate, and frankly I am not willing to pay $50 per day for her to be forced to have a break time where she is separated from the other dogs and is locked into a kennel. I am glad that I never brought my older husky to this daycare whom I adopted from the shelter, as I feel these “break” times would have brought back too many traumatic memories. Do not recommend this daycare mainly because they do not know how to handle active dogs and want to discuss “your dog’s anxiety” after they lock them in an individual cell away from all of the other dogs.
I cannot recommend Happy Tails enough. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. They go above and beyond for our two dogs. They conduct pawsonality interviews for new dogs to make sure it’s a good fit for all (I so appreciate that daycare and boarding facilities do this!) and our dog Cleo struggled during hers - she suffers from some anxiety and HT worked through a variety of options - housing her in the larger kennel, housing her with her brother Boots and also trying a crate. I spoke on the phone with the manager multiple times during her first few visits and worked out a plan for her that would ultimately make her the happiest and most successful when staying at HT. The amount of thoughtfulness, professionalism and care that they provide for our dogs is unmatched. Cleo has tried other daycares where she says “nope, not going in.” When we arrive at HT her entire body wiggles from excitement and she cannot wait to go. They know the personalities of our two dogs better than anyone and they have them in the appropriate groups of other dogs they get along with and let them go out to the bathroom together before bed when they board there so they can say goodnight to one another. If only every daycare and boarding facility could be like Happy Tails.
Having just moved to the Portland area, I decided to try Happy Tails out for my two dogs. The moment the owner referred to my Sharpei as a “power breed,” I knew my dogs wouldn’t be treated with the love and kindness they more than deserve. After their two visits, I was told they did well. However, when I tried to schedule them for boarding, the the owner informed me that I would have to bring them at least five times before boarding bc they showed signs of anxiety. Even then, he said they might not be able to board. Thankfully, this is the only place we have ever received this kind of treatment. We now go to a daycare and boarding facility that welcomes my pups with open arms and they have a blast swimming and playing with other dogs.
I've been taking our pup here since she was old enough to go. She LOVES it. We had to stop while she wasn't spayed and life was brutal. I work long shifts, and not many places can accommodate 6:30 AM to 8:00 PM. The staff loves their clients for sure. She's always excited to go, and sleeps like a rock. I drive out of my way to come here. Also have a great walking service with an app to go with to keep you informed! We love Happy Tails
Been to other places and this is by far the absolute best dog day care and boarding around! They are responsible, attentive, kind and dedicated. They get to know each dog and ensure s/he has an excellent experience. My two dogs flip out when we say, "Wanna go to ... Happy Tails?" It's our favorite :)
