This housesit is thoroughly recommended. The pets Kinchie (cat) & Duffy (dog) are adorable though you do need to be capable of restraining Duffy should her hunting instinct kick in while on a walk. The old Maison house is lovely with surrounding area full of charming villages, interesting historical buildings & wineries. The owners are friendly, generous & thoughtful. We loved everything & never wanted the housesit to end!
Dinner at a local restaurant kicked off my sit with Danielle. She was easy to speak with and I enjoyed the chance to have a casual visit before the sit, as it made for a positive start. This type of communication was consistent throughout the sit too. She even made a grocery run for a few provisions before she left--such a kind gesture! Danielle's home is just a few blocks past the high street of her neighborhood, which features a mix of local markets, grab-n-gos, cafes, post office, salons, bakeries—the typical variety that makes it easy to run a few errands. Her home had the conveniences for a comfortable stay, particularly a modern kitchen designed for someone who loves to cook (excellent knives!) and an office with a big desk, solid wifi and walls of windows (sidenote: no shades) that look onto the garden. The bright airiness of the space motivated me to be productive. Serafina and Newton were sweet companions. Both are independent, outdoor explorers who liked to come and go. They clearly have animal friends in the neighborhood and will definitely set boundaries if a fellow feline pushes their buttons. When in the house, Newton would seek out a good sturdy box for a nap and Serafina often found a perch in the living room. The neighborhood was quiet with minimal traffic. When I saw people while walking they readily gave a nod or greeting. Danielle’s home was equidistant to the bus stops near the high street and an overground station (less than 10 min walk). I had a pleasant experience and would definitely recommend a sit with Danielle, Serafina and Newton.
Mandy and Jason were so welcoming to me. Their home is on a beautiful healing property. So quiet and so much nature to admire. The house was extremely easy to take care of. Griffen is an absolute delight to play with and look after!! I miss him already!! There are many beautiful walks around the area to take Griffen and just be in nature. Griffen has extremely good manners and is well behaved. A pleasure to walk with. I would not hesitate to recommend Mandy and Jason House sit, and look forward house sitting for them again. xx
Where do we begin? This sit was a highlight of our sitting career. First off the apartment and location. The place is beautifully decorated and has the best natural sunlight we’ve seen. Full south facing windows make for amazing mornings. Everything was neatly organized and accessible. Some very fancy juicers and coffee machines were a delight. The location is right in the heart of downtown with highway access and highly walkable locations to cafes and public transportation. To the point where after the sit we started looking at apartments for us to live in right in that building! Secondly the cat Gino. What a gentle creature he is. So easy going and relaxed. He’s so happy just watching the city from the window and watching over our cooking. (Huge fan of chicken!). He is discreet and clean with a clear routine that is easy to stick to. For us he was most receptive to being pet and that’s when his purring would begin. He’s very respectful and when you get to play with him his goofy side would come out. All in all a 10/10 cat. And of course our hosts Alejandra and Roberto. They were very clear with us for how to care for the home and Gino. They are extremely responsive at pretty much anytime whenever we had any questions or concerns and were so graceful with us as hosts all the way from another continent! Their entire building missed their presence and welcomed us with open arms which goes to show just how big a part or their community they are. This was an excellent experience for us and we would gladly house sit for them again anytime.
I had a wonderful time looking after Ziggy & Ollie for three weeks in July 2023. This was my first sit through the THS website, and I’m grateful to Phil & Meredith for giving me the opportunity to look after their place, and their beloved cats. Phil & Meredith were really friendly, communicative and helpful in getting me settled in, both at their place, and in the local area, making suggestions for places to check out, and giving me the use of their bike. The property is lovely, somehow managing to stay nice and cool all day long, even when the sun is beating down outside! The area is nice and peaceful, surrounded by trees and birds, a quick ten-minute walk from a couple of strip malls with supermarkets, coffee shops etc., and a 30-minute walk from Stanford University, which offers many more options, including a cinema, Whole Foods and some really cool book stores. The CalTrain from Stanford goes up to San Francisco, and down to San Jose, with connections down to Santa Cruz. There are also plenty of options for hiking in the area. I was quite comfortable without a car for three weeks, and only took an Uber a couple of times. Ziggy and Ollie are adorable cats, full of character, and a delight to be around. As much as I planned to explore the area, I actually spent most of my time relaxing at the house, catching up on reading, and bonding with Z&O. This was a wonderful experience, and I would happily sit again, and definitely recommend to others.
This was a delightful sit! Waynesboro has everything you need while it maintains its small town character. The location is close to everything, including awesome hiking trails (several Appalachian Trails!). The fur babies are so sweet. Abby and Heidi love to be close by and picked a side of my lap when relaxing on the couch. They love their outside time and have a great big backyard to race around in. So much fun to watch them having fun! And then there is Teddy. He is a very sweet boy. All of these fur babies are bursting with personality and welcomed me into their house and helped me learn their routines (treats after outside time!). Highly recommend this sit and would love it if our paths crossed again!
