We thoroughly enjoyed our pet- and house-sit for Susan. She is very friendly, laid back, and communicative, providing us with detailed instructions on how to care for her three wonderful cats and amazing home. We arrived the night before to ensure a smooth turnover, and got a chance to get to know Susan, who has a fascinating career as a historian in 19th century Japan. We especially appreciated her responsiveness, patience, and help during the first few days while we sorted out care for Charlie, a shy but sweet boy who had to get eye drops twice a day, something he really, really didn't like. Susan was able to give us some tips on how to best approach Charlie. Otherwise, all three cats were easy to care for, with minimal fuss and mess. Susan's home is in the historic Hyde Park neighborhood, near the University of Chicago. It's a safe and walkable area, with some beautiful homes, including Susan's house, which was designed by the famous architect I.M. Pei, back in his early days. The house is cozy, with all the amenities you need. It's also only a few blocks to Lake Michigan, where you can walk along the lake shore or bike into downtown. We would love to sit for Susan again.
It was lovely looking after Mitzy and Duke, who are adorable in their very individual ways. The village itself is very sweet, the pub round the corner is great and the dogs loved getting lots of fuss and attention there, enjoying their new-found fame! It also does great food! The shop is also very well stocked. So, after a good walk around the village and the sheep fields, it was great to either relax on the sofa with a good film or take a refreshment at the Snitterfield Arms. Mitzy will be constantly by your side, either for ball throwing or just a cuddle, and Duke will never be far away and also loves a cuddle. Lovely dogs, lovely house, lovely village, lovely sit! This was our first sit on THS and it was a fantastic experience. Julie left clear, detailed instructions for the house and communication was very good throughout our time there. The house, including our bedroom and en suite was clean and comfortable, with good facilities..especially the kitchen. Poppy, Woody and Teddy were a delight, enjoying our company, or not as cats do, but each of them seeking out affection at different times. They are great characters. Our sit was a pleasure on all counts.
Had a simply lovely time with Iggy and Pop, they are super friendly and cuddly which is wonderful to experience with cats as we all know how cats are ;) Alex and Ella are great, I popped over the morning before they left to collect keys as they were leaving before I arrived , the cats are outdoor/have cat flap cats so having had breakfast I arrived at 4pm before dinner time and they walked me up the beautiful white garden pathway . The mews house in the corner tucked away with a substantial sized garden is a rare gem . Beautiful features and everything you need . Iggy and Pop will keep you chuckling with the chats you can have , they talk to you not meow it’s hilarious as is play time with their “ thing on a stick”, Pops let’s Iggy hold center stage but will dash in like a Cheetah every once in a while . Thank you for a great Balham stay , Tooting Common is literally just 1 minute to the end of the road , so plenty of green space to stretch your legs and the weather was on my side :) Thanks again guys and love to all 👍❤️😊
We had the most wonderful stay in Oundle at Elizabeth’s place. The house was clean and in the most perfect position - right in the centre of town! She was so welcoming and helpful, with local tips and recommendations! Her animals Elsa and Tao are not only very easy to look after but also both have beautiful natures and were a joy to live with! Thank you Elizabeth for being so accommodating and welcoming.
