Amanda watched over our home and 2 dogs for 1 week. She took excellent care of our pups, house, and plants. She sent updates/pics of our furry ones while we were away knew they were very well taken care of. We had the pleasure of meeting her prior to the site. She is super friendly and personable. Upon return home, our place was in excellent condition. We were very pleased to have had her take care of everything while we were traveling. Jason communicated clearly and thoroughly with me before and during the sit. Initially he hoped I could visit their home sometime before the sit started, but when that didn't work out, in the end he invited me to arrive at their house the evening before his departure, and he even cooked us dinner! Very thoughtful. Thanks Jason! The house and neighborhood are very quiet, which I loved. The house also stays cool in summer. Jason leaves all the doors and windows open for air flow and cool air, but I personally found that too chilly for me, even in summer. I simply kept them all closed, which created a perfect temp for me. At nights, though, I did leave the patio door open for the dogs so they could choose indoors or outdoors. The house is spacious, comfortable and has a well-equipped kitchen. A good supermarket is less than 10-minute walk or 3 minutes by bike. They let me use Val's wonderful bike! Since there are many long, extensive cycling paths nearby, that's a real bonus for anyone who likes cycling. There are also many great places to walk the dogs - either in the pretty residential neighborhood or around some lakes and forests. Barnaby and Rooger are both wonderful dogs. Rooger was a lot more affectionate with me, often sitting with me in evenings while I watched movies. Barnaby was more aloof, but still liked getting petted. I also brushed him a lot, due to his excess fur. He sometimes liked that, sometimes not and would gallop away. They both have a lot of character, are funny, calm and sweet. Walking them both on leads requires constant vigilance. Like dogs do, they're constantly changing positions, walking at different paces and in different positions, getting the leads tangled up, coming in from different sides, going on the 'wrong' side of poles, etc etc. They're constantly stopping to sniff, pee and/or poo. So it's not a leisurely stroll, nor a walk for personal exercise. It's an attentive walk for the dogs' pleasure. You can't be looking at a cell phone or chatting with someone online! Out in the parks, I did let Rooger off-lead, which made walks much easier, since no tangling lines or getting stretched out in two directions. lol Giving Rooger his twice-daily pills is super easy! The only thing to do is remember to give them out 12-hours apart. I set my phone alarm, just to be sure. All in all, a great dog sit! Thanks so much for choosing me to look after Rooger and Barnaby!
