Our first experience in Salzburg was fantastic. Sylvia came came to pick us up at the train station which was very nice of her. She also drove us around the city and showed us lots of new places in the days we were together before she left. This time was amazing to explore the city and get in touch with her animals. We have fallen in love with all of them. Zora is an adorable dog who has stolen our hearts. We have to say that you need to be very patient with her at the beginning because she will miss her owner but after a few days she will be ready to give you all her love and have fun with you. She really enjoys walks, she accompanies you without the leash and loves to travel, so she is a true companion of adventures. Zoe on her part will make you laugh because she is a naughty cat and very adorable in equal parts. Pablo is one of the most independent cats we have ever met since he lives more on the street than at home. You will see him coming for food and sometimes being near you in the garden since he is a free soul. Also he is quite calm and prefer to be by his own so patience and let him come to you first. The city is absolutely magical. And the location of the house is great, it's not the city center but a quiet area of Salzburg with a thousand places to go for a walk and enjoy nature while having lots of groceries and shops close around. It doesn't take too long to go to the center walking or cycling along a beautiful walk along the river. We were able to use Sylvia's car and bikes, which was very helpful and we really appreciated it! We definitely hope to repeat. Sylvia is an amazing host and her animals are sweethearts, if you can, take the chance to housesit for her!
Stan and Barb are some of the best people and it was an absolute pleasure to get to meet them. Baxter and Daisy were a ton of fun and were great guides to such great trails up the mountain above their house that only local neighbours use. We passed little streams (that Baxter could never pass up without a good soak inside) and views overlooking ridges and valleys. We found ourselves almost to the Blue Ridge Parkway on one of the trails. It is a beautiful home with mountain views, ideal for nature lovers and writers/artists who love inspiration. Their home is also an art gallery with Barb’s beautiful art on the walls (I loved all the color). The in-home theatre means you don’t have to far to go to the movies (perfect for date nights!) You have the choice of three decks to relax in. Popeye is the third musketeer who makes his home in the laundry basket (at least for our stay) and comes out to claim us, get his food, and curl up on one of the chairs in the living room. We loved housesitting here and know you will too!
