Let’s start with Dixie: the star of the show. She’s a fabulous, easy going dog who is a pleasure to be around. Dixie was always happy to see us, up for playing or a walk but never overly demanding or any trouble at all. It’s good if you have some experience as she is strong and can get excited by other dogs but it’s nothing unusual. Most of the time when other dogs barked she ignored them but as with any dog it’s good to stay alert. We enjoyed a lovely lunch and afternoon with Jody and Eric before they left. We were so glad to have the opportunity to get to know them a bit and to get a sense of Dixie on a short walk with Eric. Their house is beautiful, comfortable and spotless. The yard is wonderful. We even “played” a bit of basketball. Everything you might need is there including a really nice house cleaner who came once during our stay. If you enjoy playing with and walking a gorgeous, smart, funny and sweet golden retriever in a lovely area this sit is really quite simple. Walk Dixie, play in the yard, (she can also entertain herself in the yard) feed her twice a day, make sure she has fresh water and share some treats with her. Treats are the only thing she’ll actually retrieve ?. If you enjoy a steak from the correctly recommended butcher Dixie will adorably look from one of you to the other but wait patiently until you “realize” it’s her turn to eat a small (rinsed) piece or two or three ?. (She will also stay away while you eat, if you prefer.) If you take her into town you’ll make local friends in no time! She’s a real friendly people magnet. Communication with Jody and Eric was easy and clear before and during the sit. They were very pleased to have Dixie updates so it was a pleasure to share our adventures with them. They were equally appreciative on their return and even brought us treats from their travels. A very loving human and pet family! We look forward to seeing them all again!
